Not shocking
There are like 3 girls total
Siliconjackets
LMFAO
It was so bad the Apple hiring folks pointed it out to our exec team at a meeting
Is SJ just chip design or do u guys do fab as well
GT
For money
GT job placement is the best
realest thing ive ever read
what r yall writing the waitlist update form
Neuro smart mans
oos have better odds
idk what the hell is going on this year
they never release this earluy
one guy on reddit got off for IE
also in state
anyone but me bro 📿
FUCK
are you IE?
Doesn't seem like that
logically they should
since if ur instate and accepted to gatech
its very cheap
because of the hope and zell miller scholarships
but the thing is there are a lot lot more OOS kids than in state
who got waitlsited
yes but we do know this
this year was extremely weird
because as far as i know waitlist only started to move past may 1 in previous years
the earliest WL offer this year was late march
Yea really weird
honestly i think they will finish up in state offers before may 1 lmao
you know i wish Gtech stopped straight up lying
they literally dodged my question on if submitting the WL form late was a disadvantage
gtech 💀
sybau
guys i submitted my wl form tonight im getting in tomorrow trust
we need to manifest
Gl!
Best of luck!
nah i prob wont hear anything if i hear anything at all until may
but one can dream
mfs be calling it gtech wondering why they aint get in
nah calling the admissions office is crazy desperate 😭
true dedicated people book flights to atlanta and go in person /j
u gotta cry at the adm officers feet trust
or bribery
theyre not gonna risk their job over an 18 yr old man crying
but 20 bucks?
heck thats like 5 gallons of gas
GIT
GaTech
GT
Tech
wait im slow he said "calling it gtech" not calling gtech
Rate the names
i cant read thats why i didnt get in
GIT & Gtech are on the spot executions
gatech and Gatech are ok, GaTech is not, GT is good, tech is fine
Who calls it GIT😭😭
Like do we call caltech CIT?
well you apparently
Tech is fine in state
But like tech in Virginia and Texas aren’t gonna be Georgia tech
what’s wrong w gtech
just don't 💀
georgia tech racing simulator
It js feels wrong😭
it makes sense that theyre already taking in state ppl off the waitlist
Cuz their decision came out 2-3 weeks before oos
But it is a lilll weird that theyre doing it before May 1 🙏
no it doesnt
they never did this before
I think they have a fixed number of seats for in state and chances are they underaccepted and those seats went empty anw
looking at their lite numbers it doesnt seem like they underaccepted
kind of the opposite
specifically for in state
GT doesn't accidentally under accept, not with 60k apps lol
GT has a ratio between in state, OOS, and intl students they are required by law to keep
60:30:10
they just admitting ppl off the wl for fun then
Does that mean oos is cooked 😭 😭 😭
My counsellor called it GIT yesterday and I flinched
not really
i mean they accepted a intl living in state
so i believe they are just accepting the ones who accepted the waitlist form first
like obv they are gonna be other conditions but those in the 27th march round i believe gotta wait
no
both are cooked
in state never gonna decline because of zell miller and hope
and oos theres just way to many
💀
it really is first come first serve
nah fr
💔 yeah intl being happy to go 220k in debt for this college while in state applicants pay dirt money
SOME in staters are doomed to be on the waitlist till may 1
No way
Is this true tho
Like what’s the statute for this
I mean not surprising tho a public school prioritizing in state students
0 chance they under accepted
Yall need to get off Reddit and other BS college admissions forums lmfao
Maybe if we were a super elite private school we’d under accept but this is a public school
Told you
yeah ofc
My friend joined 9am that day and got in
yeah thats insane
yeah ik that but getting accepted like within 24 hours is crazy
ohhh yeah yeah makes sense
my friend didnt even fill out the loci and got in lmfao
true
most colleges tbf
did nayone got off for purdue?
i havent opened that thread after 30th may
the ratio isnt mandated, but georgia tech is required to accept majority instate
realistically am i getting off the waitlist for international and compE
my dad wants me to wait until may before i commit
get excited about another school and submit a deposit there
the deadline for most schools is may 1st
i wouldnt gamble on getting off the waitlist
ece/compe cooked for enrollment anyways
and if you get off the waitlist at gatech it'll be a fun surprise
yeah i'm js tryna go to uiuc but it is a good bit more expensive
i don't wanna miss out on housing stuff and roommates by waiting till the last minute
You won't dw
Housing and stuff isn't until June
If you get off the waitlist insanely late GT will figure out housing for you
Yea you won’t
If ur waitlisted you need to act like it’s a rejection unless you get taken off it
Accept your offer at your other top school
guys do yall know if theres anything else like some sort of update form you would have to fill out for the talent pathways program
no just fulfill the requirements and apply for transfer
GTech (NON-RESIDENT) RD Outcomes?

angelIsob
they'll likely prioritize sm1 with a hook or in state for the wl's
i dont think it's gonna be more than 2-3% this year
i wouldnt really look at last year speaking to people who worked at GT it was more so a lot of people being unable to afford the tuition given the economic climate last year which is why a lot of people opted to not go
i think c/o 2024 would be a better indicator and id also bet that they admitted less international students this year that past years
a bunch of people already got off, not saying the acceptance rate will be super high but its looking to be higher than most of the past years
I’m in state but I think I joined late
I joined late next day
id acc disagree
i think they already had numbers in mind
the years where they took a lot off a lot were notified after may 1st
like i think 5% at most tbh
last year was just an anomaly 2024 is more accurate
If I want to work in clean energy, what do you think is the best dicipline of engineering? I'm in envir right now but I'm thinking about elec or mech
are you in the gt '30 server? someone can probably answer your question better there
@signal gate gt just don’t like us
what idea of clean energy tho
like development, application, implementation, manufacturing
realistically you can do any major and be in but you might need a grad degree to really make a huge impact
oh actually? let me throw it in now
I'd probably want to go into development and applicaiton of clean energy, I don't mind implementation as much
tbh u can do a lot of majors then
nuclear engineering if youre into that
materials, mechanical, and electrical all really get you there too
so i submitted wl stuff but i had my sci oly state comp like 2 days ago would it hurt me if i emailed them saying i placed in my events?
I doubt they'd even read the email tbh
yo what'd you place in
2nd place circuts 3rd electric vehicle
nice
thanks
i was hoping i could milk it for wl info but if not ig its fine
low expectations for wl being ece 😭
yeah i'm gonna be totally honest, ECE is insane rn
GT accepted half as many ECE students because we're running out of campus resources for ECE
acceptance rate OOS is like 4%
yeahhh
i know it sucks for ya'll who didn't get in
GT is preserving resources for current students because ECE is getting overloaded
GIT I love you
Please let me in for transfer
I am the biggest GIT fan
Although I am at uga, my heart is at GIT
ur not getting in if you call it git 😭
if u call it git one more time im gonna make sure the admissions office blacklists you
GTech
I've said this before all the institutes of tech need to decide on a universal naming system
I like the Caltech style
gatech and caltech are already pretty similar
mit needs to fall in line
masstech
gatech vatech catech matech
whos with me
😭
Masstech
Gatech
Vatech
Caltech
MIT is special
Isn't that good for us on the waitlist
no
That means theres still alot of space!
they admitted half as many not because they didn't get enough applicants
no.
they cut the space in half
they admitted 750 ECE last year and it's down to around 400 this year
Stats?
Do they call it Georgia tech school or tech school of Georgia?
I feel like we have so many names lmao
Georgia Tech, Georgia Institute of Technology, GT, Tech, and Gatech are acceptable
North Avenue Trade School is also acceptable for the OGs
like when referring to it out loud mfs just say tech
sometimes they add georgia
but like 90% of times ppl j call it "tech"
where are u getting "school" from lol
wtf 😭
When’s GT waitlist coming out?
I heard waitlist movement should start soon if theres any
I still dont get how they could start moving the waitlist before commitment day
U can commit or decline before commitment day so
There’s still ppl accepting and more importantly declining their offers way before May 1st
already has been
Not for OOS or Intl
There might have been just u don’t know about it lol
Odds are intl or OOS WL movement is so little mfs aren’t on discord broadcasting it
out of curiosity, is there a reason why gtech is a nono way to write georgia tech?
Just call it whatever u want
mainly cuz it sounds dumb and its not called that
excpt for gtech
Wait would they announce wl decisions if I didn’t get off waitlist?
no
they only tell u if u get accepted off the waitlist if you dont hear anything you didnt get it
in
Do they at least have a last day of acceptance after which they say
"Alr we're done, you can stop hoping now"?
Good question
I have a feeling this yr not a single intl will get off the waitlist
And that we had some early waitlist movement because that's all the movement that'll happen
one literally did
p sure they do
thats like mid july tho
or even late
Source?
Huh who
my friend
yes but he's the only intl that got off
rest has been for in state only
If it's ur friend then there must be many more
Which major?
aerospace
No idea
But honestly I doubt it
You’ll get an email when the waitlist is closed but I’m guessing that’ll be like mid June to late July
But tbh if you got waitlisted I was just consider it a rejection unless you do get accepted off it
:( Sad but true
Bro it’s over ngl @signal gate
There was a wave already
btw intl living in state
i dont think they would have time to review oos and intl students rn
cause even for intl living in state they got their decisions with in state kids
so i wouldnt worry
almost everyone i know who got off is in state
Gotchu
I feel like the reason y ppl are getting off this early is because not many people will be getting off at all
And they're just gonna do everything at the start and yk wrap it up
i wouldnt hope so but could be true
i mean not many ppl get off regardless lol
True
The declined portion exponentially increasing is frying me 😭 😭 😭
you all if they took me off the wl bc i didn’t submit my form should i email them
will they give me a 2nd chance
😭🙏
not an expert but ig there's no harm in trying, right? like afaik worst they can say is no
what happened in 2014 bruh 💀
the loci barely matters
kids get accepted without sending one all the time
unless u have something really important to update it will barely matter realistically
abt halfway through GP "bud" peterson's term as president
his big thing was institute expansion
bruh why didn't my parents give birth to me 40 years earlier
i could have gotten in
well the school probably didnt have as much prestige back then
lowk even in the early 2000s the school was gaining pretty good prestige but appears to have abt a 50ish% acceptance rate
but lowk i probably couldnt score as well as i did on this sat on the old sat
like back then almost nobody scored 1500+ and even scoring above 1350-1400 was insane
now i can name multiple people in my school who've scored above 1500
Anyone receive a jmhp decision yet
Someone I know did earlier
I'd just be patient they are rolling
Also honors program only useful for housing anyways tbh
Can someone email GT when intl waitlist movement will begin
Yeah lmfao
also i dont think the waitlist moves specifically like that
Honestly, I would consider your waitlists as rejections and simply move on
Unless they actually do end up accepting you
There’s not much of a point in worrying about it
Oh yeah for sure
i dont expect to get in
all i care about is some sort of transfer pathway like conditional
which you can get off the waitlist apparently??
assume the waitlist is a rejection unless told otherwise
that includes transfer pathways
there is literally nothing you can do at this point to get in
no amount of emails to admissions will increase your chances of getting a pathway or a waitlist spot
Not worrying ab it
It's just extra dopamine
Any georgiatech wanna go highschoolers
Why 😭
I wanna go georgiatech
Even more than harvard/stanford ngl
Georgiatech for me have the greatest undegrad opportunity
Genuinely who is gatech accepting 😭 they rejected a 1570 sat ISEF finalist
How tf they gon accept us peasants then
its ok bro i got in and i have never touched an international competition or science fair or anything at all 🙏
didnt even have a big summer program to my name either
(i have no clue how i got accepted)
It’s not that deep 😭
Gatech cares a lot abt gpa so focus on that and ofc ec
I know low 1400s who have gotten in with mid ec
GT doesn't really care about a lot
Grades and course rigor matter
I got in out of state for computer engineering with no competitions
R u in state
no
Prob unofficial yield protection
Nah
Easier compared to Eng/slightly easier than straight cs
"Just have everything else theory"
nah
give me a bit i'll list what i did
- boy scouts (eagle scout)
- band (4yrs, leadership)
- governor's school (GHP equivalent for ya'll in staters)
i mean your grades/rigor/rank were almost certainly great
even if your ECs werent outstanding its likely ur essays that pushed you
yeah no that was it lol
4.00 UW, ranked 3rd when i applied, highest rigor of any student
yeah...
but i will say this, one thing like isef won't win you a spot
gotta have a strong application in all areas
yes well kids who have isef tend to be strong everywhere else
1290 instate students 🤑 🤑
as a reminder gt has to keep 60% of their students in state
GT is a state school after all
They give conditional to people with gpa under 4 and low sat
But if they have legacy or apply the right major
this is not statutory btw its either USG or institute policy
but not by law
aye I got in with a 1370 intl
stop worrying about these things
admissions arent linear
afaik class rank doesnt matter according to their cds
GT is kinda bs
They waitlisted me and so many others from my school
Took 4 ppl and none of them are going 😭
I would have prolly gone
Huh
Under a 4??
Yes
So if u don’t have a 4 then it’s really hard to get in?
No I mean like 4 weighted
Some people still got conditional with that
But 4 unweighted helps a lot
Yeah 4.00 UW is really good
man it’s a perfect
GT is at such a good location lmao
Bruno Mars’s concert is near Gt tmr
I need this gt plz let me in
the bruno mars concert is on GT's campus
it's in the football stadium
yeah we got an email about it
guys is there a lot of wildlife at tech? like geese and squirrels and such
dont schools like uiuc and waterloo have entire communities of geese 😭
its just in a big city
GT is one of the greenest college campuses
it's genuinely amazing here
idk abt geese, but there's a fuckton of squirrels
campus has so many roaming cats we have a club dedicated to taking care of them
Do y'all think they will start pulling OOS after may 1st
Yeah probably
But I would not keep my hopes high for intl/oos
how fast does tickets run out there
ACDC is coming august 28th and I want to know when should I buy em
Under 4 weighted
which corresponds to roughly a 3.5-3.6 unweighted
for anyone at all
hopes should not be high
Does anyone here know if anyone from oos has gotten off the waitlist
A lot of my friends are asking
a message for said friends
treat the waitlist like a flat out rejection
commit to some other school and fully invest in it
if you invest yourself in the waitlist you will more than likely be disappointed
wait guys what's the deal w east vs west campus? and r they far away? can someone help explain or smth plss tq 😭
and what is freshman hill?
ig it's about time i start learning tech lingo LOL
also lunar new year is kinda a big deal for my family and i'm thinking abt flying home during that period (for like a week or so); does anyone have experience with this?
freshman hill is this really steep hill on east campus; ive heard of people living on east campus that need to walk up that hill to get to class but honestly you might just go around
west and east are probably like a 5-10 minutes walk to their closest class building but to like student center or tech green its around 15 minutes (generally you'll walk 10-15 minutes to get to class)
as for other differences its just that west is quieter/has more green space and east is more of the party side of campus and its closer to the city if you want to go visit
facts
dont wait for a bitch ass school that couldnt make up their minds 2 SEPARATE TIMES
You will most likely miss classes and possibly exams
thank you so much! (and thank you all of yall here for answering all my questions lol)
Work it out with your professors as far in advance as you can
i just committed to tech earlier today :D
real 🙏
my parents preferred that i live in the city lol 😭 and theyre alr putting so much money into this so
great schools regardless; who knows maybe i'll be back at purdue for grad school lol
also do yall know where i can get cute merch? 😔
i thought the school colors were gold and white
why is all the merch navy ;-;
its all three
uhh i got my merch when i visited in april of last year before committing, there might be something online
wait also what is "north avenue trade school" lol
is it js a funny name for tech
is there any other lingo i should know?
traitor!!!!!!
/lh tech is a great school
Are you happy with the pick?
i mean i really didnt mind either school. personally i liked purdue's vibes better, but my parents preferred that i stay in a city (plus tech seems a bit more prestigious to them) so they wanted me to commit to tech lol
but yeah im prt happy regardless! i knew they were both great schools so idt there was really a "wrong" choice here
oh fsss
It's okay I switched up too, I literally had UNC in my name at one point LOL
The real remember
yeahhh
It’s a tongue in cheek name for tech
This might be tough bc it falls about a month into the spring sem so odds are gonna be you have at least one exam scheduled during the period and since I don’t think it’s technically a religious holiday you can’t use that excuse to miss school
Like one or two days wouldn’t be an issue but a week+ def will be
Yeah
hii i'm so confused here, which meal plan would yall recommend i get?
thanks in advanceee
flex is generally recommended as the better meal option
unless you plan on eating at a dining hall for 3 meals a day every day
flex has more dining dollars you can spend at on campus locations and very few people use all 200 flex swipes
wait 200 is for 1 semester, right?
ah ic tqsm!!
with ~15 weeks of school, you'd need to use 2ish swipes per day every day to run out of swipes
should i put money in my buzzcard funds? how is this different from dining dollars?
buzzcard funds can be spent at more locations, but i believe dining dollars are tax free
i would recommend sticking to dining dollars or meal swipes for as many food purchases as you can
is it easy to replenish later? should i leave it blank for now or whats a reasonable amount
you can deposit funds at any time according to the buzzcard website
i have never once used buzzfunds
only meal swipes & dining dollars
THE SWITCH UP
no way
Did anyone else get an invite to the global pathways program?
Yeah same I’ve got no clue what to think
I asked around and some ppl didn’t
I said interested just to see what it is cuz there’s no loss in being interested
i also got it, but i dont know what to say about it
They probably said no on the thing
im pretty sure I said no on the thing too
That must be good for you then
Yeah I said no but got invited to it
Why else would they send that if you said no on the thing
Should be a good signal since only some recieved it
I also said interested and they sent me back an email already saying I’m admitted and want me to pay the deposit
And they’re trying to setup a family phone call to discuss
So seems like it’s a program they couldn’t fill or something and now trying to get people who are desperate to enroll
I said not interested on the waitlist form
Was this the same thing as fysa?
Dude I love using buzzfunds 💔
Idk we’ll see but sounds like they’re just trying to get me to enroll in an alternate program so they can take my money without filling their class size ngl
Yeah but theres deffo a reason why some people didn't get it
Hoping for the waitlist but ehh it’s not that likely probs
Are you intl?
I’m not
I wonder if any intl got/didn't get it
The people I asked who didn’t get it were intl so it might be that
Perhaps
wtf is global pathways program
I mean I assume ur still a tech student
Global pathways makes it sound like ur gonna be in London or something for a semester before coming to Atlanta
How is it diff from FYSA
huh?
no im on gatech waitlist
oh wait u mean like tech student in general?
Where did you check
I didn’t get that I’m waitlisted
I think it only got sent to some people
But it just came up in my email
Are you Intl?
In state
Weird
maybe it only got sent to oos ppl
im oos and got it too, seems like its just a cash grab lowk
any idea when there might be some movement on the waitlist for oos?
Well they said it's guarenteed acceptance no?
Into GT Next yr
guaranteed if you meet the requirements
i dont trust that this random third party has a say over your admission
seems far from guaranteed
id do it but i dont want to lose my other opportunities/scholarships
If only some ppl got it
Idt waitlist is based on ur stats icl
It's more so class shaping no?
Like ur major + demographics, or smth idk
Hmm i doubt that
wait how much does georgia tech care about locis
So 50%?
Source
i asked the admissions office
well
i asked this girl who i used to get with who worked in the admissions office
they dont consider the waitlist statement as any sort of LOCI so they dont rlly care if you talk about how much you love tech or that youre gonna attend if you get in
so if you submit something like "yeah kept doing this club and did well in class" theyll be like ok cool
basically everyone submits one so
So it's lottery?
Somewhat
Yeah to a degree
They do btw
Idk where people keep hearing it
But it's so obviously false
GT has a quota for each major and they are admitting to get close ish to that quota
Not true
I had a friend who got into LMC major with a 1300 sat and 3.75 uw gpa
Gt admits by major but they also give u a free major change first year so
A few have some restrictions but other than those it’s pretty free
Granted three of those are IE CS and ME but still
You can also get into something and before you enroll you can declare anything
Except Cs
Basically yeah
What is
Probably
has anyone called admissions or anything abt the global pathways program
yeah i did
im oos cs applicant and they said I'd begin as a cs major at GT in the summer of 2027 as long as I meet the gpa requirement (3.5?) while abroad so it's different than other pathways where you can still be rejected for CS
ohh icic
thank god u still get ur major
i think like everyone did☠️
Not me 💀
When did all of you accept a spot in waitlist
like april i think
nah I mean oos people
Only oos got it?
i think so
Yeah I know that was the point of contention for me
yeah
nah u dont get anything unless u get in
oh ic
wait so the first email they sent was just like for interest but they have to accept u again?
wym
like I got the email everyone else got and I went to the website and filled out the interest form and it said they'd possibly call in a few days but thats it
i assume so yeah
After I did the form I got an email to set up a zoom call
This whole thing is so weird though and no one seems to fully understand what's going on lmao
hello i got the global pathway thing
i am wondering if its worth it, cuz at GT id do CS and at CMU id do stats + machine learning
ill prolly wait until waitlist decisions come out
Personally, it feels like kind of risk
I don’t feel comfortable depending on this random third party
Also having to go to two different countries
Just doesn’t seem like something I would want feel like doing
true
Im on the same page that going to two different countries is a drag but I wouldn't consider it to be a random third party like they are officially partnered with GT and Vanderbilt its just a new program
no, my friend didnt get it
Ah okay that makes sense
just do statMl
its fire
any idea of when waitlist movement might be
next week to the following 2 weeks
Any tech students here, is it realistic at all to do 3 minors and a major or even double major at gtech
I know it's a difficult school + I'll have an intership on the backend that I have set up rn for 15 hours virtual and a 5 hour inperson lab weekly, so just wondering about if the timings will leave me fried
To be perfectly blunt
Unless you are god himself
20hr a week internship + double major won't just leave you fried
That may literally kill you
20hr a week plus just your major will be a LOT
Plus you want time for clubs, friends, etc
If you wanna double major you'd be spending prob 6+ years here
Take a low amount of credit hours
How many credit hours do you recommended per semester? i know you usually ramp up during some years too but people say no more then 16
It depends on the courses you're taking
17 kicked my ass this semester and I'm not spending 20hrs a week interning
If you wanna keep up the 20hrs a week I would try to aim for 12-14
twin
just do a semester there
here
and figure it out
everyone comes in here tryna do 3 minors an internship and a double major this that the other and most ppl learn in their first sem that all ts is impossible
just spend ur freshman year figuring out how much you can chew and then you can work it out
i did 2 majors in 4+1 year before transferring so this isnt rlly that far off lol
i did 16 this semester and it was alright for me, but i do have 17 next semester of harder classes so that might be hard to thug out 🥀
the only person i know doing a double major is doing it in ae + phys but its because she did gt de and has a looot of credit
is it actually true that the average time to graduate from tech undergrad is 5 yrs?
or is this mostly bc of co-ops n stuff
how difficult is scheduling at gt? like is it difficult to get the classes u need
I mean you really shouldn’t be putting hope on the waitlist
I would forget about it entirely until you actually get the email that you were accepted off of it
and do you have any idea abt caltech waitlist movements
yes due to co-ops but also like taking fewer classes per semester in order to make time for ecs or research (that's up to you though, i currently have 16-17 credit hours semesters to graduate bs in 3 years but thats not recommended 💀 and i may be changing that later on)
From what others have said, waitlist movements usually occur during the first two weeks
Of May
faset and phase 1 registration are the times you barely get any classes you want unless you have lots of transfer credit and get an earlier time slot for registration (this has nothing to do with faset, this is after you're a full time student. if you do faset late then only would you have problems registering).
BUT phase 2 registration (which will happen the week before classes start in august) will let you hopefully get the classes you need, most people get their schedules fixed in phase 2
i got talent pathways
idk the diff tho
What are you majoring in?
Also there is a GT2030 server if yall wanna ask a wider range of people these questions
can send an invite to gt'30 if you want
Very hard if you’re a first or second year, but generally, the further you go, the more niche your classes become so most of them only have one section, especially for the smaller majors and for the bigger major classes it’s pretty easy to get a spot
I would say it’s around 50-50. I think most of the people who graduate in five could graduate in four or maybe 4 1/2 but they decide to take a co-op so that they get that experience and graduating in May instead of December
I know multiple people who could’ve graduated in 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 years but wanted to graduate in May so they took a semester on co-op to delay their graduation effectively
U should have 0 hope for the waitlist for either of these schools
🙁
but caltech acceptance rate was 24% out of waitlist
last year
(0 the year before tho lol)
what does the email look like
cuz global one is like this
I heard from a friend who was wl at Vanderbilt he got the same thing but for vandy
Yeah the verto education program is partnered with Georgia tech and Vanderbilt
Also talent pathways is something that you get from the initial decision letter I believe
i applied for meche
but like im also waitlisted and got the email thing
tyy
wait lowkey im prolly not allowed on there
Tbh for waitlist just invest in another school
If you get off the waitlist that's great
Otherwise just commit fully to the other school
yeah im committed somewhere else rn i was just wondering incase
honestly might do the year abroad
What even is this
is it the first year they did this
it’s like a transfer pathway into gt
did only oos get the global thingy
idk if it’s expensive idk if it’s gonna be worth
Because it’s a hassle
Going to london and spain both is cool asf
Oh yeah i forgot oos is much more expensive
Going to two different countries
For two different semester
I’m not that desperate tbh
So
kinda doesnt make sense giving that to oos students when they are less likely to accept it lmao
i am cuz im instate
so it wont be that more expensive
Have you already committed
I think they are tryna offload gen ed courses
yes to uga!
cuz they overflowing rn
so whats different about this
than fysa
FYSA is one semestr
but this seems to be two
other than that are there no differences
whats verto exactly
Some third party education program partnered with GT and Vanderbilt
Apparently Vanderbilt WL kids also got this as well
It seems to be more general because the requirements from the program are like 1 cs cred some English and math credits
Essentially you have to have 30 credits in total, then you can transfer to GT for your major after you have completed those
Lowkey when I saw the email
I got excited for a second
Thinking they let me off the wait list😭
Hmm
Idk if I’d accept that pathway if my ultimate goal was tech ngl..
Like FYSA sure but this is thru some third party
i mean they kinda did?
better than nothing
yeah but I’m most likely not taking it lol
I would be happy considering not many get off the waitlist in any shape or form
I would have considered it if was only one semester abroad
if i got it do u think it would be better to do it than go to uga
mehhhh
i mean uga to tech transfer rates r rlly good esp if u keep ur grades up
what major r u
but being in europe for a year is def cool
it will be harder to adapt to the more traditional college experience when u get to tech tho
i applied aero but im mech e at uga
what about repp
Idt UGA is a repp school
But like
If u think the global program is better then idt it’s a bad choice
is this just a normal transfer pathway
like 1 year other place, get credits then go transfer to gt
even if its not its still super cool
has anyone here who was ofered the global pathway thing confirmed interest?
if so did you get any additional info from them
Yes
keb you basically got into gt
the global pathway is not worth i think
i was looking at course list and its all stuff that i assume a majority of us have already taken
precalc, calc 1+2, chem, bio, env, physics, stat is also there but it cut out of ss
no advanced courses are available
Yeah multi seems to be the only advanced class but I was told that they might add more
ye
wait wdym
so whats the diff between talent pathways and global pathways
arent they all just guaranteed admisions assuming u meet all credits
and gpa req
yeah but talent pathways lets you go to any college you want for your first year
oh
i think the reason global pathways isn’t worth is cuz all my credits from ap exams are essentially useless if they don’t offer more advanced courses
how many did u take
i only took like 5 APs
and 2 DEs
comp e
oh nice
i only did up to Calc 2, Physics (Algebra), stats, comp sci a
and some other courses
Yeah thats also a good amount
I have my state school
I committed to
I got uiuc but it was so expensive it wasn’t worth it
oh i see
same
i mean i committed purdue but its still expensive
so hopefully waitlist changes that
where did u get wl?
columbia and gt
I have low hopes for both
I’d honestly be fine doing my undergrad at my state school then doing masters elsewhere
for wl?
yea
wl warrior 😭 😭
yup
id gladly withdraw from purdue if any of them offers me a place first
they all give better aid than purdue
is umich not super expensive
yeah but they give more aid than purdue
oh ok
wait that’s so good
for purdue its at 47k rn after grants
yeah im broke like that :((
😭
its even better with rice
rice is like everything except for 2.5k
which i can cover with federal work study
that’s amazing
but rice like the hardest to get off the waitlist for
dang
😭 😭
and theres like 2.8k average on waitlist
lmao im in the same spot as yall
i committed to my state school but got into purdue
and on gt waitlist
Same
bro i really need to get off the gt waitlist
it wayyyyy cheaper
im gonna be saving 180k just going to gt over duke
Talent you can go anywhere but you also aren't guaranteed CS where as with global you are for some reason
oh i see
Since theres literally no UGA thread
imma ask this here
How difficult is getting a 4.0 in UGA engineering
lmao i got gt and am on duke wl
are you guys going to swap places
ride fly GT for neon duke
not
ur first year at UGA is prob gonna be gen eds anyways
not like "real" engineering courses
LOLL
Depends on how many AP they got tho
Uga is hella nice to ap credits
True
Did GT waitlist start moving?
i did calc 3 and linear at gt thru distance math
so the toughest classes next semester ill be taking are diff eq and phys 2
yall have any idea how difficult those two classes are
eh
def on the tougher side lol
physics 2 is pretty tough regardless of where u take it
diff eq can be pretty straightforward if u have a solid grasp of calc 1-3
Diffeq is memorization
Truth
thats the class im most worried about
i do NOT want to get anything less than an A in that class
esp since im trynna transfer to gt
of course
lmfao
but it is a smart move to get the hard classes out of the way early
yeah
once i finish diff eq what do i even do mathwise
pretty sure i only need upto diff eq right
when does waitlist come out?
Yeah for most engineering majors it’s the last class
There’s also a stats class tho
Usually
Or a numerical methods one
It’s rolling
No we don’t know when it’ll come out for you
No we don’t know the acceptance rate
No you won’t get an email if you don’t get off
🙏 is there like a time by which ill know or is it literally just right before the week classes start
nope
im assuming ap stat doesnt give the credit for that
