If we assume that Columbia 59,616 applicants with a 4.94% acceptance rate, so p = 0.00494 for those getting a likely letter if we assume 10% of applicants get one. There are 1500 freshmen at Columbia so let's assume that 150 people got a likely.

A2C had 138 applicants (from last year's data) so n = 138, and of that the weighted average of proportions across ED and RD is 0.15, so we can assume that p = 0.015 for those from A2C getting a likely letter, or around 2 people. This is a conservative estimate because over 3 people in this thread have gotten a likely.

If we do a 2-sample z test for a difference in proportions with a null hypothesis that p1 = p2, at an alpha-level of 0.05, we find that p < 0.001, which means that yes, statistically, the amount of people from A2C that get likelies is a lot.
