I personally originally chose this school because it has an incredible physics program and worked with several labs I wanted to work with, but I moved away from physics and love this school for a variety of other reasons now! It was also the best school I got into.

There’s a bunch but I’d second what @urban furnace said with being around quirky passionate people as one of the biggest things - I love the breed of nerds that come to this school.

Also I think that the heavy workload here (at least now that I’ve adapted to it and worked on myself) is good for me. I’m the type of person who would rather work a job where I’m always busy and running behind, rather than a job where it’s chill but somewhat boring.

I will say that the heavy workload (both in grade deflation and also in regards to the very short quarters and overall academic rigor here) is difficult. When I had some health stuff last year, it was pretty brutal and I had a very bad time.

we have 9 weeks of classes for each quarter, half a week for exams, only a 1 day reading period, all the profs and students complain it's too short

we're in significant debt, the uni is implementing cost cutting measures for it

significant grade deflation (I've had upper level courses where the average is curved to a B)

many math classes are taught by grad students

i love this school but it's got its issues

People always disagree on this topic. Med school is easier in that the content is mostly memorization and the exams are more fair as they are standardized. With that being said, the sheer quantity of material you have to know is many orders of magnitude larger than what you had to know for college, so you will be studying significantly more each day.

Really comes down to what you define as “harder” I guess
