Princeton interview more like Printon interview
Huh
🚪🚶♂️
that joke killed chat for a whole day
😭
Leave.
Is it a canon event for every Princeton interview to talk about the eating club?
My interviewer mentioned them in passing
Yeah I was talking about academic clubs and my interview was like “Yeah I’m pretty sure you’ve also heard about the eating clubs”
And we talked about it for like 10 mins 😭
mine mentioned it but it was just kinda in passing
I see
I asked mine and oh boy he was thrilled to tell me
mine talked about it very enthusiastically as well 😭
to be fair they are a big thing with campus culture
My interview was 30 minutes
Guess I'm cooked
(or was it fine cuz the interview was schreduled from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm anyway ?)
princeton has time limits
admissions tells them to keep it between 30-45 minutes is what mine told me
oh come on ur not cooked 😭
30 minutes is literally like the average interview time
Mine was 2 hours lol
but some interviewers are more rigid about time limit than others
yeah def. like my princeton guy was set on 45 minutes, but my yale + harvard both went close to 3 hours long
U must be a well versed conversationalist
genuinely how
I mean, they are princeton’s equivalent of frats/sororities
There’s probably a correlation between being in an eating club and being an alumni who chooses to interview
Do grad students at Princeton go to eating clubs?
Cause my interviewer only went to Princeton for grad school, and we didn‘t talk at all about eating clubs, instead focused on research more.
Mine joined an eating club but then dropped out after a yr bc she didnt like it
So not necessarily
no not really
grad school and undergrad are essentially fully separate with the exception of research/TAs
to see the sun and grass again
the seasonal depression is hitting hard
but ts is beautiful u cant lie
the snow finally melted after a month 😭
and now we get snow storm 2
it was genuinely 50 degrees on saturday and we had just started seeing grass in nj 😭
now theres 2 ft of snow on the ground
i’m going insane
like snow is cool and all but it’s been a month since we’ve had no snow on the ground
and now it’s gonna be another 2 weeks minimum probably
its warming up this week probably
and raining
its not like the last snow where it stayed below freezing for 2 weeks
raining you say?
we’re getting another like 6+ inches in the middle of the week
bro i swear i looked like 2 hours ago and it was rain 😭😭😭
nj is fr having an ice age
How many inches of snow do you have now
Oh 😭
we've got abt 20 inches - im abt 40 mins away from princeton
idk if they have more or less
I think we have 18 inches here
the snow at my house has already melted 💔
you guys how much does like an application update matter?
I feel like pressured to get something done before the next like week or so
to update
b/c I'm so nervous about RD
but im wondering if im overthinking the impact of these things?
prolly won’t make a diff
I just submitted my app did my interview and I’m not caring anymore
I really want to do this
and I pretty much have
but I have this nagging fear im not doing something to help my chances 😭
enough for the rowers to build a 15 ft tall igloo lol
most impressive thing i’ve seen at this school tbh
u got pictures of that?
i have a video from probably around 5-6pm, bear in mind they were still working at 11pm
also note that every person here is about 6.5ft tall for scale
is this like the tall igloo building club or sum
does anyone know if for princeton preview we stay in the dorms or not?
you stay in a hotel afaik
based on what im seeing online they tend to cover the expense
i heard its only covered if you have full financial aid or smth tho
damn wtf
that sucks 💀 great preview if u cant even sleep in the dorms
no
from what i saw i saw at least once person mention 85% of their financials were covered
that’s still a lot but i figured i would say it anyway 🥀
students still need to live somewhere
every other school manages it
you have to realize that princeton is essentially at capacity
like there’s a new res college being built rn to accommodate more students
pton interview tmrw, are there any pton-specific curveballs or things I should prepare for, or is it like any other interview? (I’m so excited my interviewer seems so sweet 🥹)
Nope they seem to ask the same questions
princeton seems to be super focused on making sure u ask questions abt princeton
ah ok, thanks!
personally mine was like any other interview
mine's was actually very fun
imo it's rlly chill and relaxed
just try to bee youself
for me the guy didn’t ask me any questions and it was me asking him abt princeton rlly
I’ve had that experience w my interviews so far, so I’m v excited! Thanks for the insight
wait that lowk seems tough 😭 did you just ask him questions about Princeton for 30 minutes or what
ofc! just take it nice and slow
my interviewer and I laughed a LOT about like, the culture and chinese (bc she studied in shanghai)
I loved my interviewers so far, they asked me to keep them updated w/ results and have been the sweetest support system ever 😭 regardless of whether I get in to any of these schools or not interviews have prolly been the most fun part of this app process fr
i don’t have one either
it’s okay i don’t want princeton anyway it’s too cold up there
😪😪😪😪 cope
princeton interviews mean nothing
they try to interview everyone and its based on availability
not applicant strength
in rea all 3 applicants at my school got interviews and 2 got rejected and i was deferred
i know this lol 😭
i heard that rea was a lil brutal this year
i don’t even know anyone who acc applied to princeton in my school …. 💔
everyone and their grandmother is applying to princeton rd at my school
(i live in nj)
LMAO
we sent 2 ppl last year so now everyone (me) has a false hope that they'll take another 2 from our school this year
oh yea 3 people committed last year 😪 im next frfr
its ok last year one of my seniors got an interview and then last minute the interviewer got busy so they revoked the request 💀
its rlly based on nothing
I just had my interview and my interviewer was the sweetest person ever 😭 after she finished w her questions she gave some very honest insight into her own application process, it was like I was talking w a friend
Regardless of whether I get in or not it was a great experience fr, if anyone’s nervous about theirs, don’t be!
yayyyyyyyy
exactly it's so nice
all of my interviews have been the best experience I’m so grateful lmao
lolllll so fair honestly
I love talking
so being able to actually chat w/ a person is so nice ngl
No fr it’s so fun i love interviews
LMAO
i wonder
my dad told me there were a lot of alumni in my area so he was worried 😭 but idrc anymore yeah it doesn’t mean anything
yo
my pton interviewer
ghosted the interview request for 6 weeks
ghosted my followup email
for 2 weeks
and just today
sent an email
saying
"hey guys, sorry for ghosting, here's a spreadsheet, schedule and do your interview within the next 36 hours because the deadline is soon, thanks"
to every single interviewee he is interviewing
chat
what the FUCK is ts
😭
bro was supposedly busy
for SIX WEEKS STRAIGHT
and then comes up
and expects all of his interviewees to just
bend over backwards to get interviews in for 36 hours
dawg i am not THAT desperate for pton 🥀
i feel like that’s so unprofessional
😭😭😭???????
........ gl gng T^T
aepirudfghvapeirugvhaepriavd
u chillinggggggg
just like
bs kinda
also u have the mental upper hand
bc it's their mistake
so YOU have the advantage
think of it that way :))
Yes
yes
it's like
expected almost? idk
I talked abt it a lot bc I love food
and I love hearing abt other ppls stories
this is what im thinking too ig
like
maybe this is cope but
maybe he might be less inclined
to mark me down for a negative score
Idk why but I didn’t ask abt it
Our conversation was more centred around Pace center Programme , office hours , and internships
i asked about food and bro pulled out the eating club manual on my life
I had one in January and wonder how important it is in the whole admissions process
how did it go 😭
I talked with a former Princeton grad student who did his undergrad degree somewhere else
It took about 40 minutes so we talked only abt why this major and my hobbies
Cause I had very much to say abt my projects and tennis, these were the only topics of our conversation lol
At the end he told me that he was in my country a few times and said goodbye in my language
Basically I am happy about this interview and that’s why I wonder how important it is
It may matter more for international students
i mean an interview could go either way but at the end of the day it’s just a small component of ur application
Btw
Does sending the Graded Paper about one week after the Regular Decision deadline automatically rejects us ?
no
princeton has said u have about a week to get materials in after the deadline
after that there is no guarantee they will review ur submitted files in time for when they read ur app
ur fine js relax
is the grade check only for rea
i think so
THIS HAS to be cap right?? I thought princeton only does likely for recruited athletes
larp larp larp sahur
it is lmao
dude has such low karma it's hilarious
LMAO why tf is this guy saying he'll dm proof
The chance of OP and OP’s friend getting a likely letter to Princeton is close to none.
I think this should be asked in the UCs megathread
Oh my bad I thought I was in it
Interview is based on availability, so you’ll be fine
Not at all
its legit
althought i dont rlly know any reputable sources that provide more info abt it
Nah I dmed the guy and he wouldnt give proof despite saying he would in comments
i heard about someone getting one yesterday
also i looked at the post i think the guy was a ragebaiter jsut to get ppl mad
but im p sure someone doxd him or smth or like managed to find out who he was
NO shot
they did lol
This all on a2c subreddit?
idk if the comment is still there
Like did this happen in a2c subreddit
That’s wild
i heard he like paypaled the guy or smth to not leak
but i think his explanations were legit when i looked through the post
but a lot of his comments were like rude and obnoxious
pretty sure theyre jsut lying
likelies are for athletes or members of wealthy donor legacy families
maybe they fit into one of these categories
yea i was looking eveywhere for that
but i dont think its for athletes or that many
yea again theres no where i cna find info on this
also i heard from a past alumini from 7 years ago that princeton did send out a few likelys that year
most athletes dont post their commitments acceptances on reddit or a2c
yea but most would end up getting in early
only a few would get in RD and if u got deferred rea u prob wouldnt get a likely unless smth changed
thinking about likelies r so useless anyways princeton sends out so little its like a mosquito on the window shit does not matter
yea i know yales sends more but thats because they have a lot of ppl they want to grab like specific demographics, regions, etc.
but like the athlete likely letter theory i think is just pure speculation
maybe wealthy donors sure but id assume theyd also just get in early
princeton prob sends very few so i dont think theres much info publicly
no
athletes can apply regular decision
plus they can also get it in the early round
yea they can but a lot of athletes already get notified that they have a p high chance right in the fall
yes thats a likely letter
yea again there r no likely's for REA
i mean id say thats a verbal commitment if anything
bro whatever
i know someone who got princeton golf verbal commitment this year for early
because ppl kept on saying that likely's for princeton would only be athletes but the OP reasoning made sense as to why it wouldnt be
i dont think it matters tho because most ppl wont get a likely and shouldnt expect if ur regular cracked and even abv avg and ur not a demographic/hook that they rlly want theres no reason for u to expect a likely tbh
even for columbia like 90% admitted to RD wont get so im not sure why ppl r worrying that they wont get it rlly doesnt matter
Larp larp larp
should i visit princeton or rutgers on saturday
they’re both on the way to where im going but i doubt my mom would wanna see both … but ive already gotten into rutgers so i feel like it would make sense 🤔
but my mom loves princeton 💔💔
Visit the colleges you’d actually seriously consider attending or think seeing it in person would be valuable in assessing, is Rutgers either of that for you?
honestly im not even sure yet bcs most of my decisions haven’t come in and rutgers isn’t really up there 😓 but yeah i feel like its the more logical decision since princeton is… Well
If youre not feeling it now then I’d say it’s not worth it. Worst (and unlikely) case Rutgers ends up your top choice and you can find another time to go and visit
You’re on the east coast right? Rutgers isn’t super far
this is true
yeah it’s abt 6 hours
i mean if ur driving 6 hours id just go and see both
but thats my opinion
both great places to visit as well
the town of princeton is great and new brunswick is p cool
its up to my mom
i told her maybe we can just do one on the way up and the way back
so im hoping that will be the case
sup kids
i got back on here in nostalgia to say that you ‘30 kids are getting so insane with the ecs grinding in high school
i was scrolling through LinkedIn and hs seniors are really doing the most☠️
come see pton
rutgers “campus” is just like some buildings in new brunswick☠️
pton architecture is a worldwide marvel
are you in or out of the cave
Hopefully outside
What about you?
Hopefully shadows aren’t my only reality
How do you like it?
How’s pton?
Overall
I was thinking about studying philosophy but I think I’ll do history or comparative literature not sure
the dude is a larp
Js visit both theyre lit right nxt to each other
don’t u think i would’ve just done that and not asked😭
they’re also not right next to each other… but okay
Theyre like one train stop away and like 15-20 min away iirc
Also this is js me but if u havent gotten into princeton yet then only visit it if u wanna js sight see
you should study philosophy! did you get in rea?
oh love it, the philosophy department here is awesome and teaches really well
professors are really exceptional and preeminent philosophers in their subfields
love it
i mean it’s quite hard but survivable and a very rewarding place to be
I applied RD so I hope I can get in!
how many hours a day on avg. would you say you study?
is it mainly readings and papers I imagine for philosophy?
exciting, good luck! rd soon
it can really be anywhere from 0-5 depending on what’s going on
also at least for humanities (i study philosophy and some english and classics) it’s not really usually “studying” in the sense of scanning info for retention, it’s more like you are supposed to do your readings the go to class prepared to discuss the material
yeah like sometimes there will be final exams but mostly it’ll be like 1-5 papers throughout the semester and that constitutes maybe 80% of the grade
oh okay how long are those papers usually?
oh okay what made you choose philosophy as a major?
it can vary, can usually the big assignments are 5-15 pages double spaced
pfff why not philosophy
i was interested in learning about the big ideas by the best thinkers in history
i was in the car on the way to jersey city hence me mentioning “theyre on the way to where im going” 💔
also what train is only taking 15-20 min from princeton to nbw
i was interested in moral philosophy, ancient greek philosophy, epistemology, etc and also i wanna be a lawyer and philosophy logic is basically a foundation for understanding law
also it just makes you a sharper thinker, like, you approach life in a different way
why do you wanna study philosophy
feels like there's a cost to thinker sharper because ignorance is bliss right lol
a lot of philosophy is actually about how to achieve happiness
aristotle
that's true
Because I read the allegory of the cave
How could I not after that lol
How big are the classes usually?
as someone who had to read most of platos republic….. that is an Interesting claim
LOL
how was it
I was thinking of reading that
2 weeks left!
in nj it was 70 degrees this morning now it's snowing 😭
i read all of republic before college and loved it cmon
depends if you’re saying lecture vs precept vs seminar
seminars 8-25, precepts (like the supplemental discussion class) 4-12, lecture usually 25-100
what are precepts?
is that kind of like a seminar?
ive heard of the precept system
but unsure how its much different from seminars
ik I was actually crashing out when I saw snow once I left school
it reminds me of this one image
this morning i had to take off my sweatshirt bc it was too hot in my school and i just scraped snow off my car tonight
NC fr
precepts only go along with lectures
lecture classes will have 1-2 lectures per week and then 1 precept which is discussion/task/review based
seminars are distinct from lecture+precept classes. seminars are usually 1.5 or 3 hours once or twice a week, and everyone goes to them having supposedly done the reading and discusses the content as in a socratic seminar
yeah the way precepts are run is up to the discretion of the instructor (a split of the professor, phd students TAs, and other faculty instructors)
but theyre different since seminars classes are just seminars whereas lectures go along with precepts
humanities leans towards seminar format like my classics, 2 philosophy, and 1 english course are seminars rn and then a different english class is lecture
Are precepts a big thing at Princeton
Just an asides question, but Princeton talks a lot about civic responsibility in its essays and in its marketing. Is this really lived out in the student body? Or is it something that the admissions office tries to achieve but doesn’t always do so.
it’s not a “big” or small thing it’s just part of the lecture classes
so unless you’re mostly in humanities seminars, a lot of your classes will have precepts
it’s not a binary outcome but it’s pretty consistent across years, i mean i think it’s 35% of pton kids go into finance and consulting, another chunk into quant/swe and another portion into corporate law
I see
But are Princeton students, well, good people?
Not because they’re into finance, that’s just a product of the environment, but like decent people with personalities. Just curious!
ur probably not gonna get along with everyone at pton and what counts as a decent person is subjective but theres definitely a multitude of different people and youll most likely find many with similar values
I SAID JUST KIDDING
yes i mean most pton kids are brilliant and have very particular and strong personalities
the way admissions works guarantees it since they prefer kids who are very interested and committed to 1 or a few things
yeah agree
W I talked abt precepts in my essays
Ah I see
i mean i’m interested in civically positive work and doing public interest law/law professoring
and there are many other pton kids like that who want to go into something that contributes to solving a serious problem in the world
I asked because Princeton is a school I was really interested in! Really love its motto for civic responsibility. But it was too hard for me 🥹
do u think that princeton heavily values research in their admission proccess?
Noice 😃
it’s an interesting split though cause it’s very diverse. i’m a child of immigrants from the midwest whose parents didn’t go to school in the U.S., whereas there’s also a crowd of like NYC private high school pton legacies who summer in nantucket and study history lol
there’ll be classmates next to you in random classes who will be like “when my parents were at harvard law” “when my dad rowed here” “oh my mom was in this eating club, yours was too??” so definitely you’ll be around a whole new world of class and wealth
there’s definitely a palpable princetonian tradition of “excellence” in all its forms that people feel pride in living up to
yeah they’ll appreciate that since it’s
unique to pton
values yes, “heavily” - depends. a lot of the applicants pton admits have done research in high school. since we have required junior and senior independent research, they want evidence that you can identify intellectual gap problems and formulate a research procedure to make progress
when they say independent it really is independent, you have to have an intellectual identity to survive it, like, philosophy has 2 junior research papers by the semester and it was pretty much all done alone for me
ah I see its good they look for that and I also really like how they look for civic responsibility and service it aligns with so much of what I've done in hs
i sat down and wrote 15 pages over winter break lol
dangg thats a lot do you know anything about how neuroscience is at Princeton? I couldn't find too much info abt it
my summarized view is that research helps. it “heavily” helps if your research work makes “sense” in a broader way. RAing for a lab at a local university is okay. being able to articulate some global or major problem and then explain how your research advances something relevant towards a solution in your app is like the highest type that will incline them to admit you
my friend at stanford developed like a tool that better diagnosed a particular illness and explained it in her common app and it was compelling i think for example
that good it really aligns with me bc I went to a lot of scientific conferences as first author and communicated my research internationally research is something im super passionate abt
thats super amazing yeah I think these colleges just like to see independent thought and like the ability to develop creative solutions for the worlds challenges
yeah research isn’t like everything though. i didn’t say anything about it on my app, i was like a political activism kid and that can be an avenue too. if you’re really good intellectually (research) or civically (politics), those are both axes that get you in
ya my entire app was like research and service I did a lot of community work and activism
i have some friends in the department, i mean, it’s fine, it’s a common premed department
i’m in the philosophy department so i don’t know too much about the scientific tracks
thank youu yeah I'm really interested in neuroscience but i'm also interested in exploring philosophy and other humanities aspects
yeah realistically half or so will go into lucrative consulting/etc type jobs but you can’t prevent that so the best they can do is admit the kids who have at least shown ability to do cool stuff
also pton has a self interest in having like half of alum regularly donate so they can’t sustain unless some alum are rich lol
yeah that sounds good, you should have a plausible shot, i mean that’s kinda the formula
so would u say applying for no financial aid would be an advantage if they like rich alum
no
i don’t know anything about neuroscience formally but like in philosophy moral epistemology and metaphysics (two of my focuses) touch on rational cognition a lot
they are need blind
no impact
admissions is a separate process from financial aid
ok good bc i kinda needa some aid 😭
it’s ok i’m on a huge chunk of money lol
you usually resolve it with the finaid staff after you get in
that sounds rly cool I'll definitely take some of those courses if i get inn
it’s not like relevant to admissions
thats good to hear because some people in instagram say that applying aid lowers ur chances ☠️
why would they say that
☠️
maybe at lower ivies with chopped finaid brackets lol
Princeton is NB for all applicants.
Applying for aid does not affect your chances for admission
yeah bruh theres this one guy ivyleadroadmap he heavily preaches that need blind is a scam 😭
but HYPSM is definitely like operating with integrity on this
Saying sensational viewpoints gets you views
he apparently has connections to AO's thats why i think
yeah he lowkey just engagement baits all the time
its not just a blind guess
yeah but hes a ragebaiter fs
so who knows
i dont think hes ragebaiting
it’s literally structurally separate
i also know AOs
what does he have to gain for telling ppl to apply with no aid
i work for the admissions office
Wait i also know AOs!
it gives him a way to get views
i mean yea anyone can
And they told me NB is NB
we'll never know
U can check the CDS
also pton prides itself on admitting more low income students over the years
Over 60% of Princeton's undergraduates are on financial aid
i think its not smth to think abt
true we dont know what happens in the background but we gotta just assume the college is telling the truth
yeah most ppl apply aid on the cds
yea but 40% on full pay
?
i think it was 70% when i checked
common data set
like they actively brag about 25% of students paying nothing
Wdym "most people apply aid on the cds"
so if anything they’ve been trying to admit more kids who need aid
That's not how the CDS works
that could just be marketing
yea also i think like
theres no way to tell
again princeton is an institution and their goal is to make sure theyre endowment keeps on growing
they def have a set amnt to give for fin aid
they also increased aid recently
its really tough these days
i dont think theres anyway they would go over that amnt maybe a little bit
so there is some logic to think that way
but no1 will know
It's a logical way to think
yea again if anything in history you cant believe any1 or anything lol
mhmmmm
thats so facts
but to say its 100% true is wrong
but i think there is some logic behind why ppl say that

if they admit like 80% who need aid that would be p hefty on their end
i think aid might have slightly influence on ppl trynna get off the waitlist
you're right
that's a good way to look at it
i think one side is a lot of ppl just straight up believe things
whole heartdly
these same ppl are ppl who work at top companies that do sus things
nah
$30b endowment ☠️
yea again they prob dont want to use any o fthat lol
its likge a huge hedge fund
goal is to keep on increasing it
even with those budget cuts a lot of them didnt want to touch the endowment
when they lost research grants
lmao we just needa like spy on these aos when they admit bruh or else we'll never know
yo it doesnt matter
thats just how it is
like in anything in life ig
think abt board applications in ur own school
do u rlly think its 100% fair all the time?
you could be rightttt
if we cant 100% prove it
means its real
yeah i agree a lot of things r manipulated
yesssssir
life is rarely fair
we cant really say for sure

like i see ppl upset abt corruption rampant on the gov level but just look at smaller scale
think of it like this: they have a set income gradient that they aim for. they are planning to admit the same number of students (or slightly varied if changing goals) in each income bracket every year, so at the individual level they know they’re admitting someone who needs aid when they admit you
DAMN
ure right
that's tough
Well said man
if admins r just wasting money and then increasing tuitions
I hope things get better for you
no i mean its not that much of a toll on one person
Corruption is really really evil
but over time it will be
like im sure ppl wouldnt be upset if they acc used it
to improve educaiton
and help those in need
ah so this is also why 100% of demonstrated need was met for every student
yea but
the princeton free tuition
is def in some way helpign their marketing
colleges act basically like companies
so dont be surprised when they do stuff like this
any good PR will benefit the institution
yeah this is accurate
what did you apply to early
do you already have something decent
yeah harv rea is hard
i got deferred rea harvard
yeah its auto deferral if ur not like the best or have some hook
unless you really have something distinctive
yeah like RSI + ISEF winner 😭
idk man i just shot my shot for top schools
rn princeton seems most enticing and best fit
but who knows
hahahaha not necessary
some person in my school got 2 harvard interviews the second with an AO ☠️
yeah it gives u a separate pool pretty much
I agree but this still helps a lot for stem majors
yeah my RSI friend already has 2 hypsm schools
cuz he got a likely to yale and rea mit
cause yale wants to boost their stem caliber 😂
yale stem is so silly you shouldn’t have to beg people to come
fr he got like their special stem scholar program lol
yale didnt even give me an interview lol
yeah ik 2 people who have gotten that
in my year
did they get in
one was rsi and got waitlisted 😂😂
and one was deferred then got in
yeah she got deferred and she told me she got grilled in the AO interview
rsi kids these days scare me
like the whole apps world was intense back in my day
but high schoolers are even more crazy and on linkedin and stuff these days ☠️
DUDE this one kid on linkedin has like her global non profit, RSI, and ISEF top award
its insane
its like a whole thing to gloat about sweeping HYPSM now
yeah they made ECs a bit too powerful
but you can only go to one college so like 😭
now that i’m just at pton im like
okay
lmao ur chilling
what is the point of getting into so many good schools
same with the senate youth kids
they need to get a grip😂
yeah i honestly dont know ik these ppl start planning their resumes and ecs in middle school
whats this
and then they go to harv and their linkedin says harvard consulting club fellow within 2 weeks
just a politics program that kids get a god complex over
bro ☠️ what has ecs even turned into
and sometimes people will assume i did those programs cause of where i go and im like
i literally didn’t know they existed when i was 15 sorry
yeah ive never even heard of that ☠️ idk why i even stalked on linkedin it just made my confidence go down lol
everyone is cracked these days
well i think it’s fair
there’s no other way to differentiate people
but it’s just a little incoherent still
i’m overall happy with how pton does admissions though
i do think it’s the best and it produces the best student body
yeah i know some people who are VERY smart like I mean borderline genius level who have great social skills and theyre like cooked because they didn't grind ecs or play the college game
yeah it seems more balanced that other schools
oh yeah my princeton interview was lowkey cooked
those dont matter right
it’s definitely good and motivating to be around people becoming rhodes scholars, publishing research, getting into harvard and yale law left and right, etc
def
they def deserve ivies man
there r ppl who have been grinding stuff since enterig hs like class rank, ecs, awards, etc
lmao rhodes scholars isnt that oxford
it’s a full funded masters at oxford
for me I felt like my progression on this was relatively natural but it still ended up giving me a decently strong app
i didnt purposely try and play teh college game
does pton interview matter a lot
my interviewer made it awkward
ik ppl with low stats
who like applied for "fun"
that got it
idt they prescreened at all
bruh ☠️
just depends if they need more info
don’t discount it though
bro cuz like he was so monotone everytime I'd answer he'd respond with "ok" and he just made it feel like he didnt wanna be there
and then he'd only smile when i asked abt his experience and glazed him
yo princeton im kind of hoping for because my school sends a couple every year
and he basically told me indirectly not to go to pton ☠️
or i dont see why not
no shott
and i plan to leave serious evaluations and differentiate applicants
ur gonna scout the bright young minds ☠️
bro my school lowkey has buns ivy acceptances
so like i imagine others do that too
my school sends 5 kids a year
to princeton
and like non feeder
sometimes a bit less
and yes like they can care about what the alum say
this is good bro
but dont be like my interviewer
he WAS the NPC
dude this guy told me not to go to pton
no
bro the thing is like
we had one year where a bit more
but a lot got off WL
im just rlly worried abt how things are gonna turn out
yeah don’t worry about it
☠️
i’m from kinda a random state though
so i feel like the kids in my area won’t be very good ☠️
im from a random state in india
but i also might be living elsewhere so maybe it’ll be better LOL
what questions should i ask😈
“what is the worst thing you’ve ever done ever”
thats wild my neighbor got off WL last year
u never know they could surprise u lol
LMAO do ts
just d a normal interview but throw in 1 troll question
my interview literally asked me "why do u think u deserve to get into princeton"
"what makes u think u have a chance"
yo i think the thing is
like idk if ill be one of the few kids from my school
to get in
like trend wise theres always that amnt
i’ll say that
dude that shi was scary but i gave a cracked answer i think
Are you domestic or intl
domestic
i told him I don't really think abt or evaluate my chances but no matter what I always strive for the top and to always be the best
trust u will be
yo another thing is that
im in a situation where
there r only a few top schools i can rlly go to
due to location things
like if i dont got relatives nearby i cant go
so even if i make another cracked school i prob wouldnt be able to go
so there r just a few im rlly hoping for
Princeton RD Decision Date (aka Ivy Day)
<t:1774566000:F> in your local time zone
ah its fine tho if u get in you'll be able to tell people
hopefully u get in the ones close to relatives tho
i mean i can really do whatever i want with it
i wanna like ask kids where they see themselves in 10 years
That’s a good question
Grill
i mean
4% acceptance rate that’s 1/25 kids
so it’s only meaningful if i’m selective with who i endorse
Fair fair
U should also evaluate their social skills too
Not just answers
Wait so if I get admitted a tiger shows up right
i mean i plan to mostly assess whether they seem likable
So I have to pray for a tiger when I press status update
cause
the ao’s have the ecs
so i don’t have to explain whether they’re accomplished
yes
it’s big and dark orange
True that’s a good way to evaluate and I think that’s the point of the interviews
i said “holy fuck” lol
Lmao is there confetti
Did u get any other ivies or t10
Dang Ivy day was a good day for u
only pton and upenn tho
“Only”
Do ppl actually get sweeps
ofc
like 3-4 of hypsm happens
if you have like some specific accolade that sticks out
ives sweeping like 5-8 is rarer
cause lower ivies sometimes yield the kids they think will get hypsm
Don they just give likely
Like Columbia gives so many likelies
no
yeah to some people
i mean i got flat out rejected from brown and columbia
but i don’t really think i was unqualified
Holy yield
pton and mit are my goats tho
and i didn’t get rejected from either of them sooo
yeah they don’t have good finaid
Wb stanny
Why not
i’m not trying to found an ai study tools startup and drop out in 3 semesters vro☠️☠️
LMAO
average stanf kid journey
that’s so true tho
here at princeton we value the classical education
Is gpa as hard as ppl say at pton
it depends a lot on your profs and which classes you happen to take
but yes it’s hard since B+/A- is often the grade for like an acceptable default performance
my gpa is like an A- average ish
So is that like a 3.75
I just need around 3.7 at pton for med school
it’s fine if it’s lower
if your mcat is like 520+
they shouldn’t care
like i think a 3.5/525 from pton is compelling given how hard pton premed is
my premed friends really go through it academically ☠️☠️☠️
mol bio department is fucking me up
Yeah I saw 3.5-3.7 is good premed for pton
LMAO o Chem at pton
☠️
what do you even discuss for 3 hours lol
do u tend to see those extremely wealthy legacy kids studying like humanities more than stem?
yeah i think what is common for those paths is like studying politics/history/philosophy/policy the either going to law school or going into consulting/banking
english or classics too
very interesting
it’s kinda like a posh vibe
well
those are my 2 minors
the majors or the kids? lol
I love those two miinors
no way
maybe in disguise
LMAO
☠️
Secret History
☠️
do you happen to know if the stem dept's have like smaller classes or no?
have u taken any stem courses at pton?
i forget if they make humanities majors do that
💀
absolutely not
you think intro to chem is small?
😭😭😭
the small seminar format is like for humanities discussion
no but like im assuming intro philopsophy courses are also bigger?
yeah but i don’t think the higher level stem courses are like small per se
calc 3
electric grid engineering
climate science lab
how were they
makes sense
fine i mean i got A- and A first two then pass/failed lab LOL
i obviously am not interested in doing sciences at the pton level but i can do math yes
calc 3 was literally freshman fall so like
is it like not too difficult to manage a high GPA at pton? do u think its much easier for humanites classes to get an A v. stem?
what are you majoring in?
If this question has been answered before then feel free to just ignore this, but how much are interviews weighted for Princeton admissions? I know they're weighted less than other factors like grades/test scores, but I'm curious if they make any difference
theyre considered
but not as important as other things
interview's really interesting because it actually adds to your character/personal qualities :)
i think like anything most qualified applicants will have a solid interview
it can def help but idt its smth that will cause u to be highly sought after
its likely a tipping point
for sure!
Have they said when decisions come out
3/26 Ivy Day 7pm EST
MIT rejected me now this is my next hope 🙂
Princeton will save us all
princeton has more aura anyways
very very true
also nj > massachusetts
who can even spell massachusetts on the first try
This is debatable
Oop
we have the world's best pizza, the world's best bagels, crazy geographic diversity, great education, and danny devito
Doesn’t New Haven have world’s best pizza…
MA ranks higher in education lol
Bagels I’ve heard NJ is best so I’ll give you that
All of it is subjective but education I think MA is clear winner
ill give you that the best new haven pizza might be better than the best nj pizza, but average nj pizza is better than average new haven pizza
tbh NJ and MA rank in the top 3 states for education on any list in different orders so they're pretty close
Nyc has the best pizza hold ur horses
And nyc has better bagels...
Hot take
New Haven on top
Once u try New Haven you’ll never go back
I’ve only tried ny bagels but I’ve heard from numerous undisclosed sources that New Jersey tends to have better ones lol
worlds best pizza, worlds best bagels
I’m crying yall r just taking NYC’s shit
Deadahh
I'll try new havens
But I highly doubt it will compete with NYC
new j*rsey
New Haven pizza is bomb
lol this is so funny
I wish every state was like that
Not only does it compete, it blows ny out of the water
Have you found it hard to keep a high GPA?
Anything in particular that makes the community special?
generally it is fairly easy to get a B/B+ so maintaining above a 3 isn’t too hard
getting A’s is more difficult, but still doable
yeah, i’d also eat a bomb before i eat new haven pizza. nj pizza on top.
idk it’s hard to explain. its one of those things that you’ll find a small group and you’ll stick really close to them. could be that everyone is in the trenches 75% of the time so the free time with your people feels even better.
and even then, most people at the school are pretty cool, most people have similar goals.
lol
those chalkboards in fine hall make me feel so dumb
I can’t even imagine how cracked the math dep’t is
How do you not get imposter syndrome 24/7
What got you guys into math?
i’m mae
What are you planning to do after pton if I can ask?
Quant
You got it
Did you know you wanted to do math in hs or did u pivot to it in college?
I honestly think I’d probably be incompetent for it lol
I like physics a lot which is somewhat similar to math albeit probably more different than I think
I am heavily thinking about complit lol
That or history
And then there’s physics too
What type of math?
When I started doing calculus I found math a lot more interesting
dont worry
LOL
interviews are fun
worrying in 2 weeks time
the issue is now I wanna go to all these schools and they’re about to reject me and crush my dreams, like this is lowk evil
thats why im in a superior position
(no interviews this cycle)
i hope im allowed to send this but i had to share this with someone cause it’s fucking killing meee
why the fuck did they look at her like that😭😭😭 im crying
LMAO what show is that
chicago med 😭
LMAO no shot I've heard abt that medical drama is it good
"people with medical extensions don't get into princeton"
personally i like it cause i don't ever watch tv, but the tv i do watch is super mindless... like the show does have a good plot but its not super complicated
idk i love watching it LOL the only problem is that they'll have a lot of good characters but each chicago series (there's 3) will have one character that u just DESPISE
thankfully i dont have one in this show but sometimes they make stupid ass decisions 🤦♂️
but theyre always mentioning northwestern 😭😭 its rlly funny
wait is chicago med the one with the asian guy doctor I saw a clip on tiktok of his sister like getting pregnant and he crashed out ☠️
YO i needa watch ts
dude the ppl who made the show musta been obsessed with the app process
shes lowkey stupid as shit 😭
the clip i showed is the dumbest one so far most of them are normal but im like damn is that what they think a2c must be like
she gets out of it but unfortunately the stupidity was not a side effect of the drugs
LMAO it sounds like something us 🤓 would say 😭
dont get me started
guys i got an extension on the sat will my score be still in the 25th percentile for hypsm
insert no correlation gif
damn so she was just naturally like that
yesss 😭😭
LMAO bro I literally think ts would help u get in hypsm too
40% of stanford disabled ☠️
i remember that article 💔 💔
adhd extension
MY FRIEND literally has it
the sat extension
and he got in cornell 😭
yes so like that would imply that having a medical exemption would likely help u .... the girl in the clip being a fool 🤦♂️
have u seen greys anatomy lmao
no i havent
when i say i dont watch tv i mean never 💔 if im hooked on one show ill watch it for a few months but then ill have like a 2 year drought
the only shows ive watched are the chicago med and chicago pd 💀
and the boys
Lmao that’s lowkey me im def uncultured like I haven’t watched any of the main shows
LMAO that’s cool
I’ll definitely start Chicago med now 😭😭
yeah same i live off of those youtube shorts clips of random shows bro 😭
they draw me in so quick
yeah lmk if u ever start watching LOL 🙏
I’ll be sure to lyk when I see a goofy scene 😭😭
If u get rejected lol
on some real shit
praying to All Of The Forces for my deferral to go smoothly
it will go incredibly well
gummyworm i see u typing u dont got shit to worry about u getting in
😭
I REALLY HOPE SO
I wrote about like one big thing on my loci hopefully they liked said big thing
i put everything in my soul into those essays but i am the definition of a mid applicant
so those etsy witches better work overtime
