for example, writing about culture: dont settle for saying that you got more connected with your culture. you can show that through your words rather than telling it.

my general advice is imagine what you are writing is getting played out in a tv show/movie. if an audience member watched that, could they come up with the insight/takeaway you are writing about without any additional thinking?

Like you getting closer with your grandmother: if a person just saw that they could probably tell you are more connected with your culture without you having to say so.
