campus honors program is the real honors program and it comes with a lot more perks, and across campus there's like 550 out of 40,000 undergraduates (so like 1%). there's not really a separate application when applying, you are just chosen if they see potential in you or something (you can also apply during ur first sem at uiuc but i believe it's quite selective for that)

i'm in chp i can answer any questions about it if u have any

for merit scholarships most of my friends didnt get any, since theres only really a limited amount going around, i was lucky to get one but idk how the selection process works, there's also not an application process (besides stuff like FIRST and WYSE or other org/activity based) and they just choose eligible people

merit scholarships are awarded at the university-wide and the college-wide level

oh, nvm, i js found the website for different registration times. chancellor’s scholars get priority over james scholars, and james scholars get priority over seniors.

The social life at UIUC is pretty good, a lot of clubs and stuff.
The engineering (and by extension ECE) student body is mostly full of nerds but there are a lot of social people in ECE.
The location kinda sucks since it's the middle of nowhere but you are in a college town full of students which is nice.
