after that theres a huge drop off

even by the 10-15th pick its often times ending up as a role player

MIT just needs to seure the top 5-6 best math ppl which are the IMO quals and then ppl who are close

the 15th best, 35th best and even 50th best math kids in the country are not smth they care as much abt

atp u can not rely solely on that award to get u in

which is what the huge misconception is

u genuinly need a solid app that meets mit standards, its a huge boost to have cracked stuff like olys but to rely solely on it is delusional

the fact is that most ppl who are in this thing like MOP often have other stuff because they just grinded so much since ms and were focused on academics and college specifically so they may have stuff like RSI or research awards or even other olys

IMO team is only like 4-6 and some of them dont even have the best stats gpa wise im sure mit woudlnt care if one of them had a 3.5 because theyre literally the best at what they do

for me i had a passion of volunteering and i utilized that to connect with my passion of engineering and stem and showed how i wanted to make an impact in the world and recnnected with what i did in hs and explained how going to mit would help me
