Though okay, I will say, as someone who went through this process last year
Honestly the best thing you can do for your mental health is just.. please don't stress yourself out, it's not that serious

For the most part you're all really smart people, you'll do well either way, and even if it's your dream college you'll pretty quickly find that you can probably have the same experience - or at least, something just as comfy - somewhere else
If you got rejected or deferred, it's not a sign that you didn't work hard enough, it's just that pretty much every top college is insanely selective with who they let in, to the point of absurdity

At the end of the day the gap between students at, say, MIT, and your local state school (or equivalent) is certainly there, but it's nowhere near as pronounced as the admissions statistics make it seem

Most people say the rules are to withdraw other apps once you get in ED but it’s recommended even by schools to wait until you have an adequate financial aid package before doing so meaning if other decisions come out before you get that package it’s fine you just shouldn’t be committing to those schools

Even if the financial aid package was fine for this person’s ED there’s understandable leeway when a school like MIT releases an hour later they don’t expect you to be withdrawing the literal second it comes out
