I know purdue has "exploratory studies", you can look into that. do keep in mind though that you can select an alternate major when you're applying as a "backup", and if you want to go into engineering, I'd suggest just directly applying for engineering. It's not that you can't transfer later on, you can, but from what I understand it's varying levels of difficulty depending on the type of engineering discipline you want to get into, and it's by no means guaranteed.

as of now, what you'd apply for is first year engineering (FYE), and if you get in, after your first year you apply once more to the engineering discipline that you want to pursue.

ultimately, if you don't get accepted for engineering, and you want to pursue it, you'll have to decide whether or not it's worth gambling on being able to transfer to it later on, as opposed to being guaranteed to pursue engineering elsewhere.

yeah it's holistic, a variety of factors go into your application.

I'd suggest trying to bring your SAT up if you can

and this is just a sort of general piece of advice for college admissions; don't put your heart entirely into a single school, fall in love with a few (with varying admission difficulties), so you've got an assortment of choices that you'd be happy going to.

And many of the departments are already above capacity

If you plan on going into aae, me, bme, or ece, I wouldn’t do the indirect route

Another thing I will say is if you are fine with going to the Indy campus, your chances of getting in will definitely go up

Cause the university wants people to go to Indy

the job market during COVID was an irregular one, and what we're seeing right now is what's normal in "typical" economic conditions--it's not great overall, but the market is cyclical

and, like, you'll probably get a job. you just need to work for it--just like with pretty much any other career
