and she said that the thing that consistently gets students accepted into yale are their stories

she didnt speak much about standardized testing, interviews, etc. individually, rather she said that like everything is a whole puzzle piece and if you are likable + are a good kid in hs (reflected through recs), then you've done as best as you could have done, in preparation to applying to yale

i've only had 1 interview so far and it was for gtown not yale, but what went well for me was connecting with what my interviewer told me about himself

and yeah obv know specifics about the school you're applying to, look at clubs and research opportunities and professors

i just had a gtown interview today and it also went well, i would say mainly to remember that the interviewers aren't out to get you, they just want to know more about you and see if you're personable and can articulate what's on your app and beyond it
try to connect to your interviewer's experiences and make it like a conversation, but also make sure you know yale-specific details, like professors, classes, clubs, etc that you'd be excited about

if I had to give a piece of advice, it is to not try hard

for people who are going to be interviewed^^

they really would like to see that informal, yet semi formal side of you. just treat the interviewer how you’d treat your friend.

it’s okay to repeat what you wrote about, but you should utilize 80% of the interview to talking about how you’d live on Yale campus etc.

and specific interests that Yale in particular has

of course bonus points if it directly relates to one of your responses, e.g study abroad in a specific subject at a specific location and how that would further improve your skills to x y z… or bring you closer to something

something I wrote about my personal statement was my culture and more specifically, I wrote about my mother tongue in a section. A thing at Yale that intrigues me is that they have specific classes for this language & study abroad programs for it (partnered with other orgs etc..) which would help me get closer to my heritage (in a very summed up nutshell, the overall theme of my essay was getting closer to my culture and how it shaped me blah blah blah.)

if you’re applying for stem, speak about the humanities a bit more since Yale really wants to invite students to their school who WILL utilize the most of Yales resources. And having interests in both stem + humanities does help you out a good bit
