short answer: the system almost every college uses is just really poorly made technologically leading to lots of glitches
long answer: theres a system called slate technolutions which most of you have probably heard of if youre online enough to do portal astrology, but in case youre not aware its the backend for the vast majority of admissions offices. it includes everything from tracking links applicants clicked in college marketing emails to managing the forms you fill out when emailing admissions offices to your applicant portals as a whole including it being where aos read your applicants and release your decisions. so as you can see it does literally everything. when aos are doing the decision specific stuff they can sort applicants a bunch of different ways. like if i wanted to see every applicant to my college from the bay area with a 1420 sat and a last name starting with f i could probably do that bc it can get that specific.
if you look up the slate backend you can see it looks very old (like the image attached). like this doesnt look like something theyre updating too often bc "if it works it works, would be too hard to get everyone re-trained on a better working new system". thats also why the portal is super dogwater when decisions as a whole are loaded (you can go to some school threads and theyll tell you how the entire portal goes down a day or two before decisions come out regardless of what decision you end up getting).

how is the public transportation
There are certain periods of the day where buses get really busy but usually you can find a spot. They do suffer from the fact that they have to stop and can get stuck in traffic so sometimes they're late and you have to plan for that. If you're trying to get around Santa Cruz the city, overall its not very difficult. If you're trying to get to like San Jose, you do need to plan your 17 trip. For San Jose I've seen it take 45 to an 1:15 for getting there, to SF can be like 2:30 if you're really really lucky, more like 3 to 3:30.

Not something I've experienced myself but you've gotta be proactive on housing, the earlier you start the better deals you can get, start late and you can get charged absurd prices.
Class sizes depend on major, for humanities and social sciences the numbers are reasonable. For stem they can get really big (though not Berkeley big).
Some of the housing is old so the amenities are also old
Food quality is alright, it's not spectacular. It also gets repetitive which is the main problem.
If you're into gym stuff, the gym has a nice view of the bay but it's pretty small. Like it has all the stuff you'd want for a gym its just if you're going to it like after 10am and before 8pm it can be really busy
Sometimes stuff closes too early for my liking, like the markets close by 8pm and aren't open weekends which I think is dumb
