whats the diff btwn econ major and haas at berkeley

econ & haas have like. a lot of differences! id check the haas and econ websites respectiveuly but basicallt

econ focuses on depth/mathematical rigor. like you're going to have to take calc, stats, and a lot of upper div econ courses which are known to have more theory and calculus concepts. it's very flexible with the types of economics you go into since berkeley's econ programme is quite robust in that regard, having different classes for each

haas is a business school first, and there's a MUCH stronger focus on application. you'll learn accounting, finance, marketing, operations, management, and strategy which is much more applications based and mandates you take classes in accounting (fin/mang), finance, marketing, and leadership. and there's only two econ classes required

however, and you probably wanted to know this the most, haas generally does have specific recruiting for their major which helps a lot. however, econ (and esp at berkeley) will still give u options
