they assign you a "tutorial leader" (with either an md, phd, or both) who meets with you regularly to essentialyl mentor you through your three years in the concentration

field trips, everyone knows one another, weekly study breaks...

all of the other schools in the T10 are more similar in ethos/philosophy (and so probably more similar in the kind of students they admit) than any of them are to MIT
