What's moderate cost for you in USD?
Also University of Miami acceptance rate is 18%, definitely not a safety. (you might have accidentally looked up miami university lol)
And then do you know what you want to do after school with a biology degree?
yes i want to do medicine so i was thinking of a uni that is moderate cost like $30k so I dont build up a huge debt before med school. Yes i do think i mixed up the unis lol
Ok. Getting into US medical school is extremely tough so I would research what those odds are and what your other options could be. If you were to do biology here are you ok with other routes besides med like phd or something. Because I will say studying in the U.S. is a cool experience in general.
You won't be able to find schools at 30k USD without financial aid, keep in mind some universities don't offer aid to international students and have very selective admissions for students who ask for fin aid.
Some schools do offer merit scholarships independent of financial aid for international students though.
Schools on the #youarewelcomehere list can be affordable options. I also have this list https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18eP3jlf1ktnv6vjfWT6-8UXR8hxgNV3TIcrkpJ5vH80/edit?usp=drivesdk
Yes that’s the thing I am considered a domestic applicant not an international applicant since I am American
But live in the UK
Issok
ok great
Yes
Case Western is a great option then
What do u think of Rochester usf BU etc
those are also good. tbh biology is a general degree
Yes
Tbh I am looking for colleges that offer good premed advising
Also what grades do u reckon i should aim for
Fyi A level grades are the following:
A* - highest
A
B
C
D
E-lowest
U- fail
um why not aim for the highest. but i'm not familiar with a levels
Yes just in case what grades are typically required for domestic students?
You can look at the median gpa. it's usually somewhere between an A- and A
I see
Also do I need to do the SAT
ah, yeah that would help if you can get a good score. You can check to see if the schools on your list are test-optional or not but generally it's better to try for a good test score
I see
The colleges I was thinking of are test optional and I was thinking of not doing the SAT since I will not have the time to get it since my classes start in September.
I might take a practice test to see what you get to see if you even need to study that much. Having good test scores can be really helpful, so it doesn't hurt to try
Hmm Alr
Ty
Btw what do u think abt stony brooks
i feel like it's a solid option! not crazy selective and still a good education
I see
btw srry for the ping is university of florida good or no
yeah it's highly ranked in a lot of fields and overall top 30 in the country
i see
idk how their scholarships are to get it in your budget though
actually the price isn't bad at all it's like $50k total cost of attendance. i thought it might've been higher for some reason
I see
Would you say this list good?
-Boston University
-Northeastern University
-SUNY Stony Brook
-Temple University
-University of Chicago
-University of Miami
-University of Rochester
-University of South Florida
-University of Washington
Solid! Temple is a good safety, I might add one more affordable school in a city with interesting research/bio programs with an acceptance rate 60+ . Maybe look at some of the schools in the D.C. area.
But also do you know which of your schools on your list is your favorite?
My favourite would be University of Washington or stony brooks tbh one of them
What do u think abt FIU as safety
could be idk much about it tbh. I'd also consider Arizona State, University of Alabama, or UMBC
