#NEU vs. SMU

yeah but i'm worried that additional costs like travel, housing & food could make it just as expensive
NEU Pros
- Stronger academic reputation overall
- Northeastern Promise, aid is locked for 4 years with no unexpected cuts mid-degree
- Co-op program offers real work experience before graduating
- Diverse student body and strong cultural and organizational representation with many clubs
- I love Boston (walkable, vibrant, great public transit, and is close to other cities)
- Feels like a place where Iโd grow personally and professionally
- Strong national and global network with widely recognized degree
- More academic flexibility across disciplines, making it easier to double major or minor across colleges
NEU Cons - Only 21 of my 55 community college credits are guaranteed to transfer, others still processing and could delay graduation
- No housing secured and about a month left to find a place and move in
- Administrative processes seem inefficient, especially with financial aid
- Overcrowded facilities like the gym and library
- Far from home, harder to rely on family if anything goes wrong
- Higher everyday expenses including groceries, transportation, and rent
- Campus architecture is plain and uninspiring
- Winters are cold and long
have you done the calculations? just comparing cost of living i think northeastern would be around the same price maybe a bit cheaper
also SMU is really different from NEU politically
iv'e been to NEU it's very liberal
if you're interests in polisci/policy i would consider that
NEU is in a much favorable location in terms of internships with local gov
i have rough guesstimate, rent + food is a pricier in boston, but tuition comes out cheaper w NEU's financial aid package
forsure its definitely more conservative
the main appeal for smu is i think i wanna shift my focus from polisci/ policy--> finance/ econ
if i focus on policy i'm 100% on NEU
yea you should prob decide on that then lol
do you want to stay in texas?
for sure preciate the advice
not really i wanna move around a lot but the finance opportunities here are appealing asf
think it's a matter of deciding what my priorities/ future goals are
if your undecided then northeastern seems better because its overall more flexible. they also have a really good International business program if you are set on that (if you wanna go into that area of business)
also boston is just better imo but thats preference ig
igu i like boston more too
alrr preciate it man you a real one
