Location/Region: I'm currently a Massachusetts resident (Central Mass specifically) and would not like to go out too far from here so I'm greatly considering in state options, as well as CT, RI, and NY.
**Major: **Chemical or Mechanical Engineering -- not sure if I want to double major or add a minor
**GPA/Test Scores: ** 4.1 (weighted), 1410 SAT
Curriculum: I'd love to be at a school with ample research and/or internship opportunities. Another big factor are the extracurriculars the school has to offer. I love to draw, play the violin, write and arrange music, read comic books, play and watch soccer (def not good enough to be recruited tho 🤣), and anything to do with engineering so extracurriculars that support those passions are crucial. Lastly, a good study abroad program would also be nice.
Size: Size isn't a massive factor for me, I've toured a big school (UMA) and a small school (WPI) and liked both a lot. I do think that an advantage a bigger school has to offer though is having larger events and a bigger sports scene.
Costs: I will be looking for aid -- both need-based and merit based. Currently looking at a budget of ~$30k to $35k/year after aid.
Schools You're Currently Looking At: Cornell, Yale, Brown, Tufts, Harvard, Mit, UMass Amherst, WPI, UConn, RPI, Stony Brook, Binghamton, UMass Lowell, Merrimack, Wentworth, Fairfield, Quinnipiac (None of these are finalized except UMass Amherst, Harvard, MIT, and WPI).
Additional: I NEED a school that has good food -- doesn't have to be Gordom Ramsay cuisine but something that's edible and enjoyable. Dorms are also a massively important factor. Again, doesn't have to be luxury living but something livable. Lastly, a gym or fitness center is needed. The gym is a massive part of my life and I think I'd go crazy without it lol
