Location/Region: I am from Alabama. My only location requirements are that it isn’t in the total middle of nowhere. I enjoy hiking and outdoors stuff so being near a national park or some other recreation area with pretty nature would be a plus, but not a dealbreaker,
-
Major: Major in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aerospace Engineering
-
GPA/Test Scores: 4.66 Weighted, 3.85 UW. 35 ACT.
-
Curriculum: I would love for the college I’m attending to have a good intramural sports program, as I’d love to participate in some of those, also some sort of Motorsport based thing would be a big plus.
-
Size: Really makes no difference to me
-
Costs: Not an insanely massive factor, nothing obscenely expensive tho (60k+ a year post aid or smth). Being able to get some merit-based aid would be a plus but not a make or break thing
-
Schools You're Currently Looking At:
Stanford, MIT, Cornell, Georgia Tech, UIUC, Purdue, UMD, Auburn, UAH -
Additional: (I feel like I touched on some stuff that should be here in the curriculum section but 🤷). The college having good sports teams/cultures would be a nice plus, but isn’t a huge factor.

i mean cornell is in ithaca
Ithaca is a town… plus the Adirondacks are nearby
Which is a super pretty srea
ithaca itself is in the middle of upstate new york
its in the middle of nowhere
No its not lol
Regardless of their statement of disliking “middle of nowhere”, theyre engineering and love outdoors and nature
Both of which are amazing fits for cornell
No need to crap on their list
It’s an hr from Syracuse and around 2 from Rochester. Ithaca itself is also not a tiny town. If that constitutes the middle of nowhere I don’t even wanna know what where I’m at rn is 😭
Michigan? a little expensive tho
Darty is also good for being outdoorsy but it’s a little in the middle of nowhere
michigan gives merit aid but it is hard to get
My issue with Michigan is they are just so expensive for a public school. Even if some aid is provided I feel like it'd just cut the price down to that of other schools before aid.
Ya dartmouth starts pushing the boundry of what I consider the middle of nowhere lmao
Beautiful area tho.
yeah i think it’s like 80k COA before aid and typical merit aid is like 15k
one thing i will say tho is that when i was considering michigan there were lots of opportunities to get scholarships once you’re actually at the school
Maybe consider duke or unc as well?
