#I've got some safeties and reaches, looking for some more target schools instead

purdue?
i started reading it recently i'm on 2nd nightmare
cassie low-key fake but i kind of figured sunny was gonna end up nephis's slave eventually
i've heard they have a good math/physics (and natural sciences) department. Not as good as engineering, but still highly regarded
I saw you had Reed on your list... Would you be willing to consider Oxy?
It's a small campus in Los Angeles (Eagle Rock/Highland Park)
It's another liberal arts school with a lot of multidisciplinary classes
We have soccer
We have a 3 floor library with a shrine to Obama and a gaming lounge
It's got a nice mix of older architecture and nature
Oxy has pretty small class sizes too
Your stats would definitely make this a target, as it is roughly as competitive as Reed
It is a bit inland though, but there are sometimes trips groups do to the beaches and you can get free LA Metro access to ride to the beach
Oxy's diverse too (with all sorts of religious student organizations and a broad "Day of Conscience" attendance policy), but it is largely secular
They meet 100% of demonstrated financial need, which should offset its high price tag
However, I don't know how much stuff they have for grad classes (as it is undergrad only) and taekwondo
I'd say you should at least consider Oxy
23 miles to Santa Monica Pier
Oh and a bonus!
If you get into Oxy and you wanna take a class they don't have, there's a partnership program with Caltech
So if you don't get into Caltech, you can still take Caltech classes
oxy waitlisted me ðŸ˜
A reed WL oxy
oof
i mean i probably wouldnt have gone anyway
im across the country
they probably knew that
Idk... Maybe if you qualify for the CalTech program, you could take some there if Oxy doesn't have any?
I'm not in the math department though, so I don't know what they have over there
Here's the Math catalog: https://oxy.smartcatalogiq.com/en/2024-2025/catalog/course-descriptions/math-mathematics/
And the Physics catalog: https://www.oxy.edu/academics/areas-study/physics/courses
I mean, you wouldn't have to apply separately to be admitted to Caltech
Oxy itself is around a 30-40% acceptance, similar to Reed
And my guess is that you just gotta be able to keep a halfway decent GPA to be eligible for the Caltech classes
And that it's in something Oxy doesn't have
Oh
That's from the FAQ
They have a math placement test you can take I think
I mean, I met mine through transfer credit, so I didn't have to take the exam
Also info on the 3-2 program: https://www.oxy.edu/academics/areas-study/physics/3-2-engineering-program
I guess this was misinformation lol
Except about taking individual classes at Caltech
calc in 9th grade is insane
