I'm an intl' student and have just earned an associate degree remotely from my community college in Washington. Now, I'm wanting to transfer into a U.S. university for a double major in CS and Philosophy.

What are some schools that CS students in community college ordinarily transfer into? I wouldn't mind applying where everyone else is applying for CS transfer. It's difficult as it is just figuring out the schools that'd take my credits.

**Location/Region: **
Only looking at U.S. schools. Otherwise, I'm not sure; I'm an international student. City/Suburb might be preferrable, I guess.

Major:
Committed to a CS major with a tentative second major in Philosophy.

GPA/Test Scores:
4.0 GPA from community college.
1500 SAT.

**Curriculum: **
Would prefer something flexible and well rounded; I want to study both CS and humanities subjects in equal measure. (not looking for hyper specialized engineering schools)

I'm interested in game development and digital art, so a creative scene along these lines would be nice (I work part time as a game artist). I also really like books. I read a lot of books.

Size:
Prefer small to medium sized classes, but this isn't a dealbreaker.

**Costs: **
Not an issue.

Schools You're Currently Looking At:
UIUC
University of Michigan
Boston University
University of Virginia
UW-Seattle
Tufts University
Cornell
University of Wisconsin-Madison
University of Maryland
Washington University in St. Louis
New York University

**Additional: **
I was accepted into UNC and BU last application cycle, but wasn't able to transfer during the time.

Thank you for the help, by the way. This has been very confusing as a remote intl' student.

I 100% chance your getting into UVA. You’re probably not going to get into UNC or BU again because you’ve rejected them before.

#

Maybe try brown

Ok then I'll look into brown

#

O I was also waitlisted for UVA last year. Might have a better shot this time though, cos I have an associates now and my essays are better

Rice should be on your list

#

Rice's CS ranking might seem "low" (#27 on US News), but that's because they base it on grad school output

#

Rice CS easily rivals or beats Cornell's especially with the opportunities for interdisciplinary research offered by Houston and its generous research stipends

#

And its humanities college is incredibly strong as well

#

It's a small school with a 6 to 1 student to faculty ratio which sounds perfect for your ask of small to medium sized schools

#

And I'm assuming that despite cost not being an issue that you'd prefer to save money
Rice's financial aid, despite not offering the Rice Investment for internationals, is still one of the strongest in the country for internationals as well as US citizens

#

Ton of art museums too

Only college that would be better for your purposes (from the way I'm looking at it) would be Stanford or MIT if you cross-register Harvard classes, but I've heard cross-registering is hellish

@hasty hare Very thorough response--appreciate it.

#

Don't think I'm competitive for any of these schools, though, especially Stanfard/MIT/Harvard. I'll look into rice
