wait never mind
its not in a city and is in indiana
the UCs would be good tho
all have solid cs programs
what is a "big city" to you
bc la/nyc is big but that level of big isnt that common in the us i feel
you also say no preference for costs. to check, is this something your parents have also agreed on?
not comprehensive and iirc needs an account after a couple searches but https://www.campusprideindex.org for gay experience
The Campus Pride Index is a vital tool for assisting campuses in learning ways to improve their LGBTQ campus life and ultimately shape the educational experience to be more inclusive, welcoming and respectful of LGBTQ and ally people. The index is owned and operated by Campus Pride, the leading national nonprofit organization for student leaders...

but i must say, without getting political, campus index versus just general atmosphere in the area are pretty different and u should take that into account
There aren't. If big city is defined as LA or NY population of 1 million or more, there are only 9 cities in the US with a population over 1 million, 4 cities over 2 million, and only 1 with more then 4 million (NYC).
And each has a different vibe to them, so big city is not specific enough
I guess with all said look into Boston schools and ones generally in the northeast, but unless you get into Harvard or MIT you’re likely to be compromising on the size aspect in turn for a much smaller LAC school that’s a drive out of Boston. Columbia works, but that’s a reach for everyone. UCSB is not near LA but it’s not far either, I’d also say it’s not too massive either
In all honesty I can’t think of many schools that hit all of your criteria and those I can are basically all reaches
Harvey Mudd is 40 or so minutes out of LA, good for CS, pretty LGBTQ friendly afaik, but a tiny school and a reach at that (although it’s at least a part of the Claremont Consortium so you have 4 other tiny schools you can do things at)
Willamette University I believe is pretty LGBTQ+ friendly and could be a safety. It’s in Salem, Oregon and just under an hour drive out of Portland, but again, small school of about 3k students. Same sort of vibe with University of Puget Sound except in Tacoma, Washington which is near Seattle. Idk the depths of their social scene tho
carnegie mellon u ? i believe it's in pittsburgh which is a smaller city but still metropolitan ? plus super renowned cs dept. cant speak on the queer scene or party scene tho
