i will admit, your searchings are quite limited, but i think i know what you might be interested in. i highly suggest the CSU and UC system in california. it's very far from florida, but you did day you were open to out-of-state schools. also, north carolina state university, georgia tech, and UTenn Knoxville maybe of interest to you based on your major of interest
uc system is incredibly expensive for oos
there's some scholarships and financial aid specifically for out of state students, and all different kinds depending on your situation.
@fiery gust the elephant in the room here is that you’re 14 years old, allegedly
which is something VERY important to consider when choosing a college
you can’t drive, can’t fly unaccompanied on some airlines
i’d highly highly recommend staying in state, i think that’s your only feasible way of minimizing costs since you mentioned earlier you’re semi for nms
for in state options, any of our R1 universities will be very good (uf, fsu, usf, fiu, ucf)
i would especially consider going to whichever one is closest to home
yeah your right
i can fly on most/many airlines and i get my permit in june
but yeah your right
Is Stetson University any good? My advisor suggested it
i’ve toured it, my grandmother went there
they’re mostly known for their law program
nice
yeah im planning to do law after so i may apply
idk if i’d recommend it for undergraduate cs though, but lemme pull up something interesting rq
I mean tho with this its kinda tough (Ill be 15 when I start but still)
if you get accepted to usf honors they do a 3+3 program with stetson law
they have great undergraduate cs too
i started having just turned 17 and it can be slightly isolating at times, you might be on a whole different level
i mean sheldon did play DND with a bunch of 20-25 year olds so it wont be that bad
he was also a fictional character written by adults who were far out of college by then, so it might be that bad
most large universities have a large party scene that will be nonexistent to you
i’m 17 for my entire freshman year so i can’t even get into a club
i am not a party person tbh
but like
does it really matter
it could. isolationism is a big issue with students going into college with peers who are older than them. you just have to be prepared to sacrifice a normal student life because your education will be the only thing you have.
you will be 15 surrounded by 18-22 year olds, it’ll be hard socially even outside of the party scene
wrong reply oops
@fiery gust see above
what part of FL are you in?
wellington
they are extremely difficult to get
id strongly consider UCF, they have a great CS program and you’ll be only 3 hours away from home (you could also take brightline?)
and only a few are given out
brighline lol
it’s so fun
just don’t be that guy
but the point is they exist
i definitely do not suggest the UCs or CSUs as someone who is going for CS and an OOS student
they practically don’t
it’s quite far, but you can take a redcoach bus which is tolerable enough
but if you are interested in california, then i suggest a private uni since they do give out good financial aid - chapman, santa clara, loyola marymount, pacific
but they do 😭
with how little given out for OOS/intls it's better to say they pretty much do not exist
im retaking so yeah
The UCs do not have a full scholarship for oos residents
They need a full ride
The UCs are not a good option for them
i'm well aware, it was a suggestion, and i was not implying that it matched their needs to a perfect T. just that thye may be interested in it.
knowing this now, UC and CSU would not be a good idea
wait you cant join any clubs in college if your under 18?? 😭
clubs as in nightclubs lmaooo
LMAO
Yeah I don’t even think they have them for in state students, you get a lot of money but not enough for full rides
They are quite stingy
Nevermind UCSC offers a full ride
welp usf is now on me list
my two best friends go there
nice
Yo whats the warmest T-15?
duke?
ok
no
