Location - I live in maryland, and would prefer colleges in maryland or surrounding states, like virginia, west virginia, delaware, or pennsylvania. However, if I get enough scholarship, I'm fine with going anywhere in the US. Also, I have some distant relations in tx and ca so i can go to those states or states around them as well.

Major - CS

GPA/Test Scores - My gpa is 3.63 UW/ 3.97 W . Unfortunately, my class rank is around 260/460.
I studied in a school outside the US in 9th and 10th grade, which did not have any weighted classes. Apart from 1 B in 10th, I got all As in 10th and 11th.
I have a 1530 in the SAT (760 EBRW, 770 M)

Curriculum - Nothing in particular, but my parents really want me to do a BS not a BA in computer science.

Size - I do not have a preference

Cost - I do not think I will be eligible for much aid. EFC is around 25 - 40 k a year.
I am pretty sure I will qualify for National Merit Semifinalist, but I don't think I will become finalist because I have a 'D' grade in one subject in 9th grade. So, I am also considering colleges which give scholarships for that.
I am a US applicant, and qualify for instate tuition in MD.

Schools i am currently looking at: (I also need help classifying these as Reach/Target/Safety)

UMD college park
UMBC
University of tulsa
Alabama
UT Dallas
Bryn Mawr or Mount Holyoke
Penn State
UVA
UPenn
Stanford
John Hopkins
UPitt
George washington u

(please let me know if you think any of these schools may not be affordable/feasable.)

Additional - this is not a necessity, but I would like it if there is a roller skating rink in/near the campus.
Also, schools which have atleast a little bit indian/asian presence would be preffered.

I need more safeties and targets, I think. Thank you for your time.

It’s still hard to get into

#

it’s like the difference between it being a target compared to a reach

#

57% compared to 18%

Ohh I had them mixed up, I assumed virginia tech would be harder to get into. seems like they're both pretty comparable for cs ranking-wise, do you know the cs acceptance rates for both?

VTech is better for Tech hence the name

id add purdue tbh

#

its about 40k ish a year full pay, and any scholarships/aid will make it less bad

#

its cs program is incredible, and u can alt major in smth like ds or ai and still get in

#

also check out the polytech at purdue, some majors are rly specific and good (game design, cybersec, etc.) and they prepare u for a job immeidately out of college
