Location/Region:
City/Suburb, USA, distance doesn't really matter (I'm in NY), would avoid OOS publics unless they give good aid for OOS students

Major:
Neuroscience (pre med)

GPA/Test Scores:
~95uw? 1 AP, 5 on AP CSA (taking more 7 APs senior year)
1500 superscore (740/760)

Curriculum:
EMT training maybe

Size:
Doesn't really matter to me, maybe on the smaller side??

Costs:

Needing a lot of aid, Don't really have a budget but probably around 10k- 15k after aid

Schools You're Currently Looking At:

Safety:
SUNY UB SUNY Stony brook

Target:
CWRU, UPitt, SUNY Binghamton, University of Rochester, Brandeis University

Reach:
BU ,WashU ,Duke ,Cornell

Additional:

My income is around 75k which is why I need a lot of aid. I also transferred the summer before my junior year from Canada (July 2023), and I had to retake a lot of classes. My senior year schedule has 7 aps 💀. My ecs also arent the best bc of moving.

Be Detailed! Everyone has some preferences about where they want to go to college. Diversity? Weather? Coastal/inland? Architecture? Color scheme? Whatever they are, please make sure to list it as much as possible—the more preferences and specificity you describe, the closer we can match our suggestions to colleges you might be interested in attending. Saying “no preference” isn’t helpful (and probably isn’t true, either!).

Good amount of Asian people (10-20%), non-toxic, maybe on the nerdier side?

These are all pretty good options, the best safeties would be your in-state, high acceptance rate schools. I would look at Syracuse, otherwise I think you have a good list already.

Oh. Every university's pre-med advisors do that unfortunately. That was also my experience at Duke. I'm going to try talking to them again for the first time in a few years, oof. They kind of remind me of high school guidance counselors, where it's less work for them if they just tell you no instead of helping you.

Otherwise, if they have all the classes you would be required to take, it should be okay.

Organic chem being impossible does not sound good tho

like cwru, washu

orchid tinsel
#

I mean

#

Duke is a pre-med focused school

#

known to be one of the best in the country

proud lake
#

True

orchid tinsel
#

to be fair, I was an engineer which is like the scariest major for any premed advisor

proud lake
#

Oh my

orchid tinsel
#

I'm sure they were much nicer to other people

proud lake
#

What type of engineering

#

BME?

orchid tinsel
#

They did not like me though

#

yeeppp

proud lake
#

I meeean

#

Its not that farfetched

orchid tinsel
#

my gpa is horrible because of it and now i get to retake classes

proud lake
#

I went to a CWRU tour and they kept telling me finance pre med was popular

orchid tinsel
#

it's just the workload is not conducive to being a successful premed if you're not like crazy great with your time

orchid tinsel
proud lake
#

I used to want to be a bme pre med

#

Then i realized that i dont want to have a 3.2 gpa

orchid tinsel
#

I actually just got a job at case, I love it. I think it's really great for premed because there are 3 major hospital systems within a mile radius of campus

proud lake
#

I know

#

It's such a nice school

orchid tinsel
#

it's just very healthcentric energy and there's opportunities everywhere y'know

proud lake
#

I hope i get in and can afford it

orchid tinsel
#

me too! that would be awesome

proud lake
#

My parents wont let me ED anywhere so im eaing

#

I toured the place and opened every single email they sent me

#

So i have the demonstrated interest too

orchid tinsel
#

Honestly, since i'll be physically on campus too, hmu if there's anything you need. Their app is straightforward though, there's not supplementals, so you just need a really good CAPS for case

proud lake
#

Thats the issue

#

I mhaving so much trouble

#

With my CAPS

orchid tinsel
#

ugh, send to me

proud lake
#

No like

#

Im half way done a draft

#

And it slike

#

So bad

#

its crazy

#

Ill send it to u

#

in dms

orchid tinsel
#

#

um

#

ideally send finished draft, but you can message me what you're trying to do

proud lake
#
