Maybe BU if you applied ED
BU is also huge
Doesn't really fit
Targets could be like Rochester, Lehigh, Union may be a bit rural
URoch
bu/bc/tufts prob targets w/ op's stats imo!!!
No
they might yield protect him but idk i feel like they are
hm yeah maybe.. but idt the acceptance rate is a problem w/ his stats. i get where ur coming from though!!
Trust me...
lol maybe ur right.. i think its bc the school i went to a lot of ppl got into those places w/ much lower stats!
People will get in with lower stats, but higher stats doesn't really move that needle a lot
i mean a 1570 vs a 1400 does kinda move a needle but yeah ig
anyways id say targets: UNC/neu/urochester + easier to get into LACs like franklin marshall, macalester, haverford(maybe a bit of a reach ...(lacs amazing for med school)
safetys: umass amherst, rutgers, lehigh, syracuse, umbc/any state schools rly
imo i feel like your school is similar to mine-i went to a really good public school and most people got into good schools or our state school &sorry also for arguing in chat didnt mean to cause any beef!
yeah!! also u can ask me any q's abt hopkins cornell and dart if u need help (i went to admitted day for all 3 and ive talked to like 1029021312013 students there) and one of my bffs is going to corn !
HELP
tbh thats partially true it depends who u surround urself with and what type of person u are.. at all of thsoe schools premed is hell but some of my upperclassmen friends love jhu and most people ive talked to there have told me they're fine even though it is really hard. there is def a collaborative culture but its also true that most of us are aiming for med school which is lowkey why i chose hopkins in the first place and why most of my peers chose hopkins in the first place as well!
Tufts has a 9% acceptance rate, these are well below the 20s
They’re OOS, UNC isn’t a target
This is wrong btw, the point of reaches versus targets is stats can’t change a reach to a target
Tufts and BC are not targets
Stop lying to these people please
For class of 2027, out of 34k applicants, 3400 were admitted. The middle 50% range of SAT scores for admitted students are 720-770 for EBRW, and 750-790 for math. For AXT, it’s 34-35
This persons lovely stats aren’t changing a 10% acceptance rate school to a target
Tufts and BC are not targets
Certain acceptance rates stop a college from entering target and safety
Yea
A target/safety will be different for people depending on whether they are In state or out of state (if it’s a public), their stats relative to the school (and a decently high or average acceptance rate is usually a precursor)
Not everyone will have the same safeties/targets, but a reach will remain a reach
onl yissuue wit like F&M (which i a great school) is the rural factor
Lehigh is also VERY much not a safety...
yeah, same. I went to Dartmouth
Tufts isn't a target foor anyyone. Period
HELP sorry guys I think my perception of safety’s and targets is skewed bc of my school mb 😭😭😭
so target reach and safety are based on a students stats. What may be a target for you may be a safety for me. But at a certain point schools are reaches for everyyyone
sure, but like... many of the schools you called a target are a reach
Lehigh isn't a safety for anyone
you just don't really know what you're talking about
I mean I was just trying to help and everyone can have their own opinions idk why ur attacking me 😭😭
IMO lehigh is a good school but it’s def a school op can get into which I would classify it as a safety
Because if you give advice that is bad, you were better saying nothing
Mk I mean at the end of the day it’s for OP to decide what he wants to believe
And op can hear different perspectives there’s no need to restrict him to what you think 🤷♀️
Kind of get what you’re saying here (don’t worry I’m jusy trying to cut the tension here) but just seeing the academics doesn’t guarantee much about the likelihood of getting in. Since we don’t know OP’s ECs, potential essay quality and recs, you shouldn’t assume colleges like tufts and bc are targets solely on the grades
also a good point
My school has plenty of people will reallt good academics but their ECs were poor whicu is why they were unable to get into colleges even I had initially assumed were ‘targets’
Yeah that makes sense!! Thanks for being kind about it 💗💗
Or they have great ECs and academics and are just applying to really compeitive schools
Absolutely, I think @wicked oak is jusy being very real here which is also important. People often get very high and mighty about their chances when they actually have no idea about how competitive the process is
Real is always my aim
Very true, and I agree with you point that after a certain acceptance rate no school is a target
our personal perceptions can’t dictate how the reality is
Always good to hear it straight! Wish I had a bit of that when I applied as well haha
Feels like the best use of my expertise
I gain nothing by blowing smoke up anyone's ass
and you don't either
Exactly haha. But I’m happy where I ended up and in general the entire process is quite enlightening and humbling
If you’re considering another reach premed program, would encourage you to think of Georgetown
Altho you are looking at targets and safeties do ig it’s not as helpful to you
Cool then! We’ve got a great program with tons of support for students so you could definitely look into it
