#Rutgers University (2024-2025)

what were they like
mate i was just happy i got into ece bc my chem and physics grades were pretty ass
even if i got into the other two i was expecting a rejection from ece
my biggest one was my environmental one. i got flown out to a national park for a week and got recognized by the national park service š
i also work with the mayor and organize litter clean ups and did a research paper with them
my second biggest one was working with a congressman and getting congressional recognition
english š
env sci?
i didnāt know what i wanted to do back then lmfaoo
fair
but iāll prob switch to environmental sci
did you get a full ride
pretty much
i have issues rn with my financial aid bc theyāre saying iām an oos state student šš„² but once thatās settle iām supposed to have like 35k? in financial aid
which is a full ride
nah iām in state but they made me oos for some reason
in state is 34k i think
oh shit
damn
i went from a 2.8 to 3.8 in 4 years
but I guess I shouldāve had a 4.0 to get into the school I live 10 mins away from
if thatās not consistent improvement
bro Rutgers isnāt that hard š š š
Ong y do ppl fear monger if ur gpa is above like a 3.5 and ur sat is above 1400 fine it aināt that hard
š
My grades like a 3.75 equivalent if u convert it to gpa scale it aināt that deep just have decent rigor
Ik ppl with like 3.0-3.2 equivalent in my curriculum (IB) that have gotten into NB for RBS and SOE within the past 2 years
ok and
Y do ppl fear monger it isnāt that hard
??.
Bro telling that guy he has to go to cc and transfer cuz he has a 3.7
š
Ppl get into t20s with a 3.7, thatās goated if u have good rigor
bro what
thatās just not true
in the slightest
plus ur acting like a 1400 is the average score when itās nowhere close
NJ average sat is a 1066ā ļø
Idk what the avg is ppl with like 3.5 gpa at my school have 1400
yeah different schools have different averages
Thatās very surprising
itās not
you just need to have a reality check
not everyone has a 1500 and 4.0 applying to Rutgers
most are average NJ students
I was agreeing with that
Rutgers is definitely not easy thatās my point tho
Bro was saying u should go to CC and transfer if u want to go to Rutgers and have a 3.7
Itās probably easy if u have a 3.7
i had a 3.8 cumulative
Assuming good rigor
and honors DE and AP classes this year
Maybe my gpa is something else converted cuz I havenāt taken a single non IB course in high school
honors last year and the year before
unless youre bca the average sat is not 1400
i think itās pretty crazy how competitive itās gotten in a short span of 2 years though
lol
But every school equivalent to Rutgers I applied to I got in easily I only got cooked at the level above Rutgers like Purdue and shit
me too
With like a 3.75
but the AR dropped by half in the last 2 years
i got into OSU finance out of state but rejected from every NB school of Rutgers in state
well not rejected but I got dual admissions at cc
same thing basically
Idk maybe they want oos money or something
bergen academy
Is that like Philips Exeter or something
@opal egret freshman 84
sophomore 90
junior 94
senior 98
i canāt believe this wasnāt considered growth bruh
Rutgers should be an ivy
yup
colonial college
im doing dual admission at cc so ill be in New Brunswick eventuallyš
Mine was like
3.90
3.75
3.70
3.80
i thought that the growth would be enough for Rutgers atleast
š
if they took lor I think I wouldāve gotten in maybe
but cc might be better anyway financially
I thought I would get cooked everywhere cuz my grade trend and sat imply im lazy ngl
i went testnoptional
i got a 1230
and 27
but I didnāt study
my only bad parts were literally math
i think I got above a 30 on every ACT subject besides math which was RLY bad
My sat is good but I had negative trend because I didnāt have senior grades when I applied to Rutgers that just makes me look lazy
So idk
whats your SAT
u didnāt get in??!?!???
ohhh
I applied RD
bruh my act had so much potential
ahhhhh
i wish I studied more
i think I was qualified without a test score tho
I think Rutgers really wants out of state money or something
Like public colleges usually love instates I foiaād Purdue acceptance rates and instate math had a 100% acceptance rate a few years ago while oos and intl were below 20%
you would think theyād prefer out of states
but idk
idky a government funded institution is worried about money
Most public institutions still fund the majority of their operations with tuition revenue afaik
thatās odd
at that point they should just call themselves private??
im pretty sure if they stayed private theyād technically be an Ivy still
All the Ivies having been colonial colleges previously is just a coincidence
It would probably be like USC or Vandy
Iām pretty sure the Ivy League was founded before Rutgers became a state college
š š š
its 1450
š
it ain't it if you in hs, it's getting competitive
bro had 3.7 as a transfer student but applied as a first time and didn't apply to new brunswick and since he had his associate i told him to go to newark, get his credits transferred, do a semester and then transfer to nb lol
have he applied for new brunswick he would've gotten in lol
omg what
how did he accidentally apply as a first time š
and WHY NOT NBā ļø
HE DIDN'T KNOW
Trust, we first-gen got no guidance whatsoever xDD
i remember in HS i applied to Berkeley College (the NJ/NY one) and got accepted and thought "damn what if i change the campus to the one in California?"
like we were really that clueless lmao
bro I am too but that is a huge mistake ššš
atleast he got there some way or another
yeee lmao
it happens to the best lol
š„²
then your courseload or weighted should go insane
btw i didnt submit any reccomendation letter
anyone still waiting?
yes for wl lmfao
yes
Aināt even that, I had a 2.7 when applying and got in, itās really luck based.
to NB?
rutgers doesnt consider financial need
if you need financial aid oos public schools are not the route
Then whatās the diff of oos and in state on acceptance
Sallie Mae got meš
the aspects of your application are weighed differently depending on whether or not youre an in-state student
do not take out loans for rutgers of all places
I like Rutgers
Really?
that is how admissions for state schools work yes
Yea but I thought it was the other way, like easier for In state kids to get in? Guess Iām dumb
at most schools it is but every school operates differently
Oh ok thanks!
Best school I got into, Iāll need loans wherever I go
Plus a doctor gets paid damn well
but you have to take out loans for med school too
if you have to go to grad school you should always do the least expensive option for undergrad
Yes, but praying for grossman med,
Thatās fair, but ironically Rutgers is around the same as my cheapest option.
Not a lot of aid sadly from Uncle Sam
for oos?
have you gotten aid offers from any other school?
Yea, got rejected from my in state, and only other schools are all private, one is ~20k less, but itās in Nebraska and while I also love it, idk which Iāll pick yet
20k per year?
ya dont want to be in debt going into med school
or idk
it just seems tough to do that
then carry that through residency
20k less per year, itās def cheaper, but itās location and other things put it at a disadvantage
dude
go to nebraska
Yes, itās rough, but itās basically my only shot
it doesnt matter where you go for undergrad as long as you do well
if you go to rutgers by the time you graduate youll have $100k extra in loans w interest
Yea, I spose, but I want to enjoy college as well, and the other school has around dick all In Research
just from undergrad
Yea itās a lot of money
u realize how much ur loans are gonna compound
research really doesnt matter in undergrad
go nebraska!! student debt bad!!! esp that muchhh
you wont be able to pay them off for a long time
seing since med school is what like 4 years then residency like 5years?
youre likely going to have to start paying on your undergrad loans in some capacity when you go to med school
If you want to get into a top med school it does
Youād think but as long as youāre in education you donāt.
this is just not true
isnt med school admissions just gpa and mcat
as someone with student loans
if you go to graduate school you will still have to pay them in some capacity
and like other volunteer hours
idk
much about it
but i doubt research is a hard requirement
even if its just interest? the amount of interest on $100k in loans is going to financially cripple you
thats how private lenders are
Well even at the cheapest Iām still taking 100k in loans in undergrad
They are scummy, but I have to wait to see my interest rates and stuff before I decide where I wanna go
dude
interest rates arent going to change anything
and the more you take out the higher the interest is
ur gonna get fucked by compounding regardless
honestly at this point i would try to apply to schools that still have applications open
Well, than it sounds like Iām just gonna deal no matter where I go.
because neither of these options are good
Iām not going to really get a much better offer anywhere else, I like these schools, debt is bad but I work and am going into the highest paying field possible
how do you know that you wont get a much better offer anywhere else
2.7 grade point average, lucky I got these man
10 years after undergrad i mean
you should really look into community college or a gap year
5 of those are paid, 80k a year
residency doesnt pay 80k?
where are you getting this number from
I did, it isnāt for me personally, Iāve accepted the debt is gonna happen
youre going to regret this for the rest of your life
like im being very genuine with you
kids dont understand interest
as someone who is in student debt and who watched their parents pay off their student debt this is not just a decision where you suck it up and take it
they dont teach it apart from small part in pre calc or calc
Sounds about correct
Yea.
and then it starts compounding
and you consolidate it
and its about $100k for all of your loans
but the interest is capitalizing every day
and if you pay it off in ten years, in the best possible scenario, youve spent almost $200k paying off the $80k you originally took out
now imagine that times ten for med school
thats not something you can just accept
Iām following you, but itās what I want to do. Fact of the matter is itās this path, or I go to cc, feel stupid, end up quitting, and fall into the 9-5. Youāve laid out the problems of America
dude
youre assuming that youre not going to end up quitting pre-med
the majority of people who enter college as pre-med do not go to med school
i mean like not to be rude
but do you have a plan for turning your 2.7 or whatever around
like it doesnt automatically happen
college isnt easier than hs
and you'll have similar struggles
Yes, I had a 3.6 last semester in 70% college classes, i had adhd, didnāt know, also just a fucking unlucky couple years
taking college classes in hs is not the same thing as actually being in college though
I know how hard it is, itās fucking rough as hell, but not a day in my life gone by when I havenāt wanted to be a doctor. Sounds cheesy but idc
Oh no, I know, just saying thereās been change
and its ten times harder when you have student loans
im telling you this as a student with loans
while other people are able to focus all of their attention on schoolwork you have to worry about working and making payments
its not a path where you are going to succeed
if you want to talk about "the problem with america" this is the problem
just be in top 1% or smthin in ur state school
get caltech or mit masters
boom
ez moneh
(ik its wayyy harder than it sounds)
i might end up with 150k or smthin student loans so yeah š
im gonna be cooked
I know, deferred loans is my plan. Sounds like your just gonna think Iām stupid no matter what I say, and thatās not healthy to argue against. Lemme cook
U got this
you dont know how loans work
I do
you dont though
you can defer payments until after you finish your degree
yeah with interest and moreover im intl
My parents both have student loans
so there are gonna be extra charges
but then you have to make some kind of payments
so approx 200k š
Fixed interest payment, I know.
lenders operate differently today
how are you going to make those payments while youre in med school
is this for med school bro?
Job ideally, save money all through undergrad.
dude
youre not going to be bale to make that money during undergrad
the payments are going to be about $1k/month
you cant save up that kind of money during undergrad
thats not how the world works
You said you had about 1.5k a year of interest, my loans at creighton would be the same.
thats not how the world works
summer is three months
You canāt include med school loans in your total either, grad loans are deferred until after graduation
where are you going to get a job that will pay you $30k over the summer
Sellin crack
im not going to med school
i made an informed decision when i took out my loans
Ik im talking bout myself
i know exactly how im going to pay them off
i know what my monthly payments will be
ive already paid off $2k because my entire paycheck goes into my loans
you clearly have not thought it out
and you need to do some serious thinking and put your goddamn ego aside or you will be in debt until you die
it doesnt matter what your loan info is
learn how to spell breathe correctly
Iām tired man, itās 12
since you want to talk yourself up about being able to do incredibly well in college
@eternal willow if u dont mind, how much did u take out loans
Brolio is pressed
this year i have $20k, itll be about $10k next year because my housing/meal plan will be less and i got a scholarship from usc
by junior year it should be $5k max if anything
oh wow thats less
because i thought out how i was going to do it and i came here with a plan for how i would graduate with as little debt as possible
taking out student loans can be life-ruining if you arent smart about it
thats the main aim for me as well
but considering how saturated cs is
im kinda scared if i could pull it off
honestly there isnt a ton of difference between cs programs unless youre going to like. a t10 school
and even then its mostly the name
is your family able to help at all?
yes
thats good
they said theyll help for all 4 yrs(but i very well know its wayy too much for them)
so ill try to fund myself without their help in junior and senior yr
i mean ultimately you have to consider how much going to the us for college is really going to help you with your career
anyone has the link for net tuition calculator for rutger?
google.com type in rutgers net cost calculator
hope this helps
donāt know which state u be from man but I recommend in-state every time. Rutgers OOS is extremely expensive :-( Doesnāt take the merit tht u got accepted, itās really cool!! but I would advice against loans, trust, ur future self will be grateful, Iāve met 26 year old ppl still paying their undergrad degree when u can just go in-state and then OOS for grad school ykwim
u from neb?
oh brother
@red fog trust me when I say this: it donāt matter. my current situationship went to Wenworth in Boston, which is a technological school, but like itās not Harvard ykwim? he got accepted for med school in UWM (university of Washington in Missouri) which is like top 5 or 10 med schools here in the US
he still decided to go to another med school less ranked because trust, where u go to med school really donāt matter in the long run, but truuuuust, donāt waste a lot of money in undergrad, especially for that ācollege experienceā which is so fully ingrained in American culture
my honest fr honest advice:
go to CC, do EXTREMELY well, and then apply to Neb, do really well on ur in-state and trust, youāll get into a good med school.
OOS
donāt say that
thereās this disgusting concept that if you go to CC, itās only a matter of seconds til you drop out. that aināt simply it. see CC as a second chance.
I went to CC. had a classmate who did shit in HS. did extremely well in CC. did research, joined several programs, extra curriculars, 4.0. guess where he got into? fucking Princeton. he had like a 2 point something in HS!!!!!
Community college is fr a second chance. Trust, I graduated from CC and Iām transferring and Iām literally no-debt
at the end of the day itās your decision but trust me, itās best to take the CC route. Rutgers will always be here if you want a post-grad, but your loans will literally eat the shit out of you. Met a social worker whoās like in her 40s and still paying her loans after she graduated when she was like 20 something, ykwim?
school ranking wonāt matter in the end, and if you go to your in-state and do well it wonāt matter in the end
plus Nebraska is so freaking pretty, but to be fair Iām a hoe for the Great Plains picture views and stuff lol
you can always for example finish your CC and then transfer here once u get ur associates and if you do well, hell, you can get aid too and/or u pay less @red fog
break the chain!!!! it's not too late!!!! lol
I meant I wonāt survive it, but thanks for trying to actually engage in healthy conversation instead of talking down to me
Idk wtf Iām doing yet,
at the end of the day it's ur decision, we just want to help you make a wise one before you commit haha
if you ever have CC or transfer questions and need answers, feel free to DM! i'd be willing to help answer to the best of my abilities lol
in the same position
We got this king
rutgers prolly the best school i got into but cannot afford that 65kš
FAXXXXXXXXXXX
got like 10k from all my other schools and they gave me nothing i dont get it
got a response guys !
sadly, i wasn't accepted in Newark
nor for sas nor for business school
so my next and last bet is mason gross and hopefully they like my portfolio! :D
not even. itās good enough to be some peopleās first
cc hate makes no sense
im getting PAID to go to the same 4 year I wouldāve gone to anyway, no loans debt, I get to stay with my family and friends
cc is free for like
a lot of low income
did u get ur decision back from SAS NB? when did you submit your application?
haven't yet, applied in likeeeeeee the deadline which was a day before feb 1
iām confused, u said u were rejected here
For Newark
did anyone apply to njit/get the honors college decisions back today?
there's no njit thread in this discord sadly
and i assume a lot of u r from nj
Did any out of states receive their financial aid package from NB or Newark?
I did, 0 from NB
would cost me 65k cuz its engineering lol
fuck that
University of delaware here i come
or maryland if im lucky enough to get inšššš
Only for Honors
Oh? So we still have time.. i hope..
lmao u rd'd md?
didn't realize they don't accept ppl from rdš just wanted them to have my mid year transcript
hopefully it was worth it
what were ur stats to get in?
thatās also expensive
1570 superscore, 5.3 gpa (like 13 AP's with like mostly A's with a few B's), ehh EC's (research program+research paper, museum tour giver, marching band electronics lead, volunteering, editor in school newspaper, + other cookie cutters)
5.3
i have absolutely no hope of saving money, even temple is charging me 50k and im in state
upitt?
ik my schools gpa system kinda weird
are you instate?
im in state for rutty
I think most nj schools use the 5.0 scale
oh wait nvm iāve seen you before you just rebranded
damn, im not that goodš
should've applied or at least to penn state but rly didn't wanna live out in the middle of nowhere i have to stay near a city
i mean im cs and thats hard at maryland
what ru majoring in
scratch that hard everywhere
electrical eng
ngl ece hard too
is maryland cs hard to get into?
plus all the umd admissions officers say rd is just for the extra seats š
pretty sure its sub 10%
its t10 on csrankings but idk they dont post the admissions things by major
1460 + 3.8 gpa, but 4.6/5 senior year, straight As junior/senior year only 4 aps. Decent ECs tho and extenuating circumstances
got in everywhere so far tho so im just gonna keep praying
extenuating circumstances always change the whole scope of ur app ngl
is the 3.8 out of 5?
technically but didn't take any aps til junior year and got a c freshman year
we rly couldnt tho we had honors classes
as long as its a upward progression it looks good
I have a downward trend lol
anyways if u got in everywhere till now u alr have options lol
i go from mid to mid to m id
I went from 3.9 to 4 to 3.95 to less (~3.75) after senioritis
I think you'd be solid for UMD, as long as it's not CS
ah, but maybe not for RD š„“
but also like, Rutgers is a good school, it's a great option, especially considering the price for in state
rutgers in-state is so expensive tho
i swear our taxes are like high asf we should have a cheaper state flagship
what other options do you have?
admitted?
yes
oh hey, UVAs great
Both expensive
it is yeah š
if rutgers was like 15-20k I would accept it in a heartbeat
I'd personally prefer uva over umd, unless you're engineering (and even then, it's close enough that I'd just go for the cheaper option)
unis should be cheaper across the board š
no reason they should be as expensive as they are
you see people in Europe going to fantastic universities for a less overall cost than it costs us per year
if only i was in stateš
65k for rutgers is insane
ikk, and canada
granted I suppose there's differences in circumstance between here and there
and then they complain "oh noooo why r we losing so many students š¢š¢š¢"
no way i know so many people that got in
to umd cs?
most people i know got Letters and Sciences
could be all ur friends are just top 10% lol
same but small sample size
and many people shoot their shot
i just donāt know them
tru
but like
i know ut austin's like 7% and like three people got accepted from
my school
but also a lot of cs people apply to umd
oh lmao
everyone ik got rejected ut austin cs
even the person who got into caltech
i just know rutgers doesn't want me (no honors college š¢) and umd wants me (college park scholars š)
holy fuck rlly
thats insane šš
yeah they donāt fw us
it is a lottery
I got into camden
so both camden and newark
I registrated math BS program, which building is better?
their acceptance letter is definitely more dedicated than Newark so I thought...
dedicated?
wdym
itās generally nb > newark > camden
the acceptance email just looks so much better than Newark
Newark just throw me a gif saying "You R in"
that means literally nothing lmfao
camden is like whole essay lol
ye lol
when colleges are more desperate that means they're worse
real.
changing status in portal is so much aura
itās like āpull up if you want, idcā vibes
Rochestern Institute of technology sent me a whole beautiful ass poster saying "(my name), you're always onto something amazing"
i pasted that shit on my wall
doesn't mean i think rochester is better than mit which sent me a pamphlet
you got into mit?
no dawg
like b4 college app season
when all the colleges were sending shit by the day
like the promo mails
if i got into mit
i would not ever open this server again
they said end of february
i still havent gotten mine
yea
Did anyone receive their financial aid yet>
nope
I'm still waiting on mine
@stable drum can I uhhh somehow change the campus or major but still keep scholarship?
Hey man
Yes
That goes for all in-state public schools
Remember
PUBLIC
So yes
Ahhh
Nah thatās different thatās a Rutgers scholarship
But man if u go to NB or Newark ur gonna get Garden state guarantee anyways, in theory
If youāre low income and have your associates
Which means free tuition
I would ask about EOF program
Look it up
Employment ppportunity fund
I believe Rutgers has it
Anyone got presidential scholarship in Honors College?
garden state guarantee is 1st and 2nd year
scarlet guarantee is 3rd and 4th
they work together to bring no tuition for all 4 years
you donāt need associates tho
what state are you in
@celest vapor
itās definitely expensive oos
hard to say if itās worth it without knowing your financial situation though
itās definitely a very good school but in state could be better financially
^
youād be paying 50kish per year
without financial aid
well
the alumni network is enormous over here
and the name I feel like gains value as you get father from NJ
but itās still very good name value over here
idk thatās what I hear from people. alot of people in NJ think rutgers is a safety or something because itās all we really haveš
it def does id say
big10 highly ranked public state school
itās not a public ivy
yeah people call it an ivy because of how old it is
i donāt think itās actually considered a public ivy
isnāt that like UF, UIUC and some others?
The āpublic ivyā stuff is all bs but they didnāt name rutgers
itās like ucla, ut austin, unc, uva, berk and stuff
ohhhh
But then again rutgers name better for east coast than some of those
Definitely just comes down to if you can afford it honestly
Nowhere is worth going into that much debt
Then youāre gonna have med school debt too
So youād wanna spend as less as possible unless ur family can afford it honestly
wtf
rutgas worldwide
ppl defo know rutgers in other countries
i live in abu dhabi, very few people here know rutgers, i go to a school where everyone applies abroad as well
only t10s and some t20s are well known here and purdue/uiuc/gt by stem people
don't even think wisconsin is well known
Ah itās cuz in Montclair thereās red hawk guarantee too but I mean at the end itās the public universities guarantee haha
yāall rubbing salt in the wound lmao
whose wound?
mine (ru-n stabbed me w a rejection)
What did you get rejected for
Like what program?
yea
mm yea I thought so too until this years applicant pool
i mean RU camden + newark seemed easier to get into but for NB I was actually like shii
especially since many ppl in state got WL or rejected
itās getting more competitive w each year so defo not a safety school anymore
it was this year and last year that were crazy
before that it was kinda a safety
cuz last year common app
yea
I realize that our family just moved in NJ for half a year
so we're still counted as non-NJ residence
Show proof of address

thatās not how it works
you need to spend more time here
Yeaā¦
Wait
I didnāt know tht @toxic garden
Where u come from?
but like in-state tuition has certain requirements for eligibility
6 months isnāt long enough in-state
born in NC
When did u come to Jersey
Nov 2024
Ahhh⦠I honestly would contact them about it. :-( Iām scared that financial aid can be an iffy
Thought u were a Jersey native
I donāt know if itās 6 months or a year? But I would contact them/send an email
aight mg, do ur best </3
šš½šš½
why do most people choose rutgers honors or even normal rutgers over njit honors (almost) full ride?
due to a 15k/yr scholarship and luck on the fafsa, i will pay 8k at rutgers vs 2k at njit for the first year. the cost for rutty is probably going up due to income increases in my family (not more than 20k), but my parents said theyll be more than fine paying for either
Probably because of name recognition. Itās pretty stupid. I say that name recognition donāt matter that much anyways. If you can do it for free go to NJIT. Unless of course, your parents can afford Rutgers.
For what major @dusky tangle?
mech eng most likely
name brand
Many more reasons
Name brand is one
NJIT quite literally has zero social life
Itās in Newark
If youāre just an academic weapon itās good but most people look for the social aspect aswell
But donāt get me wrong, itās definitely an incredible school for STEM
aye you're here
wsg
also did you get honors?
i'd take the full ride bc i wont pay a cent for college
and no debt or loans
thats a win
but my ahh was too dumb to get into njit honors
yeah for both
yeah i have been here on and off for like 3 years but now i finally ask a question and get exposed š
nobody know any school anywhere except t10s
Rutgers brand pretty good in the us tho ppl randomly think itās an ivy for some reason
same with Purdue
Is there a Rutgers '29 discord?
purdue is acc ranked lower than rutgers
just not for eng and cs
yeah Purdue's a pretty top tier engineering and/or cs school
i thought it was a meme?
i mean sure rutgers is recognized but not ivy level
wild
J
if you look up the history of rutgers
yes ik
it was a college that genuinely could have become an ivy but didn't for some reason
i have no clue how that relates to people misremembering it as an ivy though
it was one of the colonial colleges, and all the other colonial colleges except 1 are now ivys
damn
the other one is w&m
I thought there was only 3 references in total
btw common app said "Admissions notifications for regular decision applicants will be posted online via your Rutgers Application Portal no later than February 28 if you apply and submit all required credentials by December 1. "
new brunswick hasnt decided my application yet
can anyone knowledgeable with SOE confirm if this is true?
im currently taking calc 3/diff eq and have taken linear and saw this on the njtransfer page, but i knew previously those credits wouldn't transfer. it sounds pretty official but i don't want to get my hopes up
I only got nb
u had to do an interview or sumn right
i aint doin allat
i only got camden
u and me brotherš«¶
š„
back in december for NB
but i never did it
tho i shouldve
more tuition off
rutgers 29 looking a bit too real rn
š š
same
did what
the response prompt
for the hc
the email was js hc consideration
š
i know someone that applied ea for rutgers through the commons app before november
and they got deferred
ans she still hasnāt heard back yet?
is that a rejection or?
have they checked their portal
it would indicate a result on there
like u gotta swipe thereās no letter it js says whether ur admitted or not
can i double major if i got into 2 schools
call the school
happened to my friend and got accepted like not even an hour after
yeah, anyone can
How do I view my official decision letter and download a PDF?
there isn't rly one online, i got mine in the mail though
there is somewhere
i forget
i have someone how to before
oh ok rip
I still didnt get my decision š
Should i be worried
I did apply like 1 hr before the deadline so
Idk
go to the myRutgers portal and view your award, then click on financial at the top
if you got into multiple colleges you can see the cost for each
Alrighr
Honestly scared af abt it
any current Rutgers nb student I can talk to?
What about a call?
I applied on December 1 but my SRAR was submitted December 3 so now Iām considered for rolling admissions and havenāt gotten a decision yet till now. I emailed and the guy said I would hear back no later than August 1. This is actually a joke, Iām so frustrated.
Lmfao what
Itās not a joke if you applied the day of the deadline
Of course itās not gonna instantly receive your SRAR, just like your SAT wouldnāt instantly get received
ggs im sorry gang
hashtag demonstrated interested
anyone pulling up on march 28th?
that was hc consideration?
I got that as well I assumed everyone got it
It just asked you to apply no?
r u sure submitting srar late gets u moved to rolling
I think they made a mistake
I did asw but I got in ea
ea deadline is 11/1 though I think
I applied in late November iirc and submitted my srar early December
I got my decision jan 20th
or something
thatās the title of the email yes š
does consideration mean they liked your application enough that they wanted you to apply to honors
or smth
I wasnāt expecting to get hard cooked everywhere else I shouldāve applied š
might be dumb question but how do you guys think rutgers hc compares to ucla
the main issue I have with ucla is that tuition is like 85k for oos
whereas rutgers would be like 30k since I'm in state
Honestly bro, 85k for a bachelorās? Come on now
which major
math
Idt it matters then
yeah it's kind of insane
ucla has terrence tao
r u set on grad school
yeah fair
if ur gonna do grad school anyway and academia undergrad doesnāt matter
just go wherever is cheapest
wouldn't ucla have better opportunities for undergraduate research though
just bc they have stronger faculty
Rutgers lets u cross enroll at Princeton bro
oh cool
itās quite good for math
ok cool thanks for the help I'll keep it in mind
ucla better
both are kinda bad for that cuz thereās wayyy too many students at either
if youāre looking for a better shot at research Iād stick to private schools
yeah makes sense
I haven't gotten any private school acceptances yet though š
just waiting for ivy day atp lol
I doubt I'll get any
DEADASS??
only for the graduate school i think
the application itself was prolly late
December 1st was the RD deadline
I'd disagree on that
If you're an honors students you have tons like tons of opportunities
a lot of schools do this
theres normally red tape (like you can only do one class a semester and/or it has to be a class that isnt offered by the school you're a student at)
ik a girl at cornell who cross-enrolls at ithaca to take music composition courses and a girl at ithaca who cross-enrolls at cornell for astronomy
last i checked it was grad only
i believe theres one w/ penn as well but also grad only
Can vouch RU math department was pretty good imo
hell nah
wtf
thatās what iāve been telling them but they just keep going on about āI understand your frustration..ā then if u u see stand do something about
guys what the fuck
it was there till january bro
what are they on
why tf did my application get submitted then
and why did i get my portal
in common app it showed jan 15th
bruh
wtf
why did i pay 80 fucking dollars then
why did it show jan 15th
oof
rolling admission was jan 15th i had to send them another mail
itās ok dw
nice thanks
I took a few rutgers math courses during hs and they were pretty good
I think the main thing is that I wish they could have gone a bit more in depth
and the homework could have been more challenging
but yeah overall they were pretty good and Iād assume that the more advanced courses would be better
oh cool which ones?
250, 300 honors, and 350 honors
I wanted to take analysis or abstract algebra as well but my schedule just didnāt align
oh damn nice
ru rah rah
And UCLA will always be there if you want a Master or PhD, but 85k for a bachelorās. Thatās like house money lmao
SAMEEE
REALLL
it literally says youll receive a decision lol, just that they cant guarantee what time they will release it
imagine they release in like june š
Rutgers RUHHHHHHHH after a rejection from Penn, I have been redirected to RUtgers
if i lose to purdue tomorrow
Rutgers > Purdue anytime bruh
in what universe lmao
š¤ āļø erm ackshally....
rutgers is ranked higher than purdue on usnews
overall tho
In every universe
š
cap
anything stem / engineering purdue is super clear
RBS is so much better
Purdue might have a better program but my cousin is a transfer from Purdue to Rutgers and UIUC he said Rutgers has a lot of connection opportunities
for rbs yeah the proximity to nyc probably helps
dude
purdue is a stem focused school
thatās not a fair comparison
Rutgers business isnāt even all that
ngl Penn state business is even better than rbs
yeah
smeal is surprisingly good
rbs is good
but
purdue stem is better
people barely go to purdue if it isnāt for stem
people go to Rutgers for so many majors it doesnāt really specialize in anything
probably going to commit here
same
i want to commit here so bad but i have no guarantee ill be able to get aid
they have an aid appeal system for extenuating circumstances but it doesn't open until the summerš¤¦āāļø
you can appeal for merit aid
its on the scholarships page
you can also appeal for honors college
I did that form a few weeks ago but I haven't gotten a response yet š
ugh does rutgers have only one open house
Comes out tmr bro
Anyone got merit from Rutgers as a oos
for honors yeah...
uhhh
so did they just forget me or the admission is still working?
cause mine is EA, and ive heard that rutger's EA was 2 months ago alr
hi guys I denied my admissions offer to NB and Newark, good luck to all :)
congrats on Barnardd!!! I also denied mine so hopefully waitlisted people enjoy Rutgers NB SAS or SEBS lolol
WWWW
same
What you say in the appeal form
nothing fancy, I just said how I'd really like to be able to go to Rutgers, and some additional merit aid would make it more feasible.
Alr ty
Congrats! Barnard is so cool!
can you appeal honors college even if you didnāt apply
iām alr in hc but iām asking for a friend
ty ty
not committing here, gl to waitlisted people
bye chat
should I call one more time?
itās April 1st and I applied before the deadline :^)
then again I did call before one time but idk, donāt want to sound desperate
What happened?
^ D:
Still under review
Would it be too desperate?
No idt they care
Like 2 years ago lol
Wow
What GPA did you have
I applied two years ago (2023) but got denied with a 3.2 GPA
Didnāt even remember RU-N, only RU-NB
errr dont remember perhaps 3.8-3.9
Damn lol
yall i got ru honors on appeal
but i heard baseline scholarship was 10k? and i only got 5k?
how would one get more
how broš¤¦āāļø my dad literally passed away and they told me i can't get any more aid until i appeal fill out some appeal thing in the summer
So weird, I applied before the deadline and I'm still under review D:
not too late gogogogoog
Are you a first year?
transfer
Fall?
yep
I got my during January as a oos ea
You should probably call them since itās April already
did you apply to the hc previously?
itās ok j alr know the link
iām in the honors college but my bf isnāt. he forgot to apply and wants to get more merit scholarships to dorm at rutgers
but idk if he can still apply for it
theres a link
wasn't accepted for filmmaking. still have to wait for a decision for art & design as they didn't get it due to the system so they're still holding for tht but i was denied for almost all the schools i applied so it's joever lol
I already got over it, congrats to everyone tho <3 take the chance to go to RU fr
Anyone who is out of state?
just told my friend on the waitlist to refresh his portal
if any waitlist gets in please tell
for some reason my decision for NB is not even out yet
how do yall recommend I find a roommate
