#University of Washington (UDub) (2024-2025)
1 messages Ā· Page 2 of 1
You have to make your test center send it officially
theyāre actually pretty cheap compared to my other options
tuition only 40k
vs uiuc like 60k
coa adds up to like 60k tho
i applied on thursday and havent gotten my portal link yet even though my app has been downloaded by uw
is this normal?
is there a way to change my major after i submitted my app
afaik if you call the admissions office they might be able to get it sorted out
Has the allen school released their AR for 2024, it's not posted on the website and they usually say they update on november first
not that iām aware of
hmm interesting thank you
they can see test scores if you reported them via common app right
you dont have to enter them separately?
yep
and if they need your test score for whatever reason i think they will contact you later and ask for an official score report
I see
so who here is applying for cs/ce
Meeee
there may or may not be a snack shop in the basement of the cs building for cs majors only
wait wtf
that's insane
it may or may not also be open 24/7 and get restocked constantly with stuff like coffee and ramen and pocky
oh and free printing
cs / ece bby
not that iām aware of, unless youāre computer engineering
if you meant engineering as in ce then yes they get access to the same things that cs majors do, itās all bundled under cse
has anyone got a portal??
im listening to ur advice and switching to ece.
WHERE IS MY PORTAL
ong i want my portal
The portal is ass
probably nothing to worry about yet if yall dont have your portals yet
(and since it sounds like a lot of ppl havent gotten theirs yet they might just not be out globally)
btw all the cs ppl better study up on their cs skills cuz there's an entrance exam you gotta do before you can actually enroll for your classes
bro what
im literally cooked
theres no way thast true
im kidding
lol
but there is a self-guided placement test that you can (and probably will need to?) do
and it gives a recommendation to which intro series course you should enroll in
actually you can just take it rn
If the portal is just them asking me to make a UW netID then i have it
oh yeah make sure you do that
I did!
bro that's insane
that's in the basement of the cs building?
cse1, bottom floor, take a right out of the elevators and then continue all the way down to the door at the end of the hall
itās locked via keycard entry though
do you consider $1.20 for a single box of pocky good prices
cuz thats how much i paid today lol
the only downside is you canāt use your dining money
Ah okay
my next question goes along with that, how easy is it to get a student job on campus?
youād be surprised, a couple of places on campus arenāt restricted at all
not really honestly, iād prefer if every building (other than suzzallo) was at least restricted to needing a uw keycard but thatās another topic
ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦..
we do not speak of this
(currently stressing out about a TA application)
but fr tho thereās a ton of openings every quarter
oh okay š
i *think* your typical jobs like working in the dining halls cycle per quarter
Ah i thought you were talking about dining funds i'm kind of stupid yeah that's not really good
since everyoneās schedules change constantly
then occasionally youāll find stuff on handshake (uwās version of linkedin)
depends
ah okay for sure
well what's like the usual compensation
i think being a TA pays 19.97 an hour?
thatās the only one iāve really looked into
the catch though is youāre completely forbidden from working more than 19.5 hours a week
then youāll need to also make sure it fits with your schedule
which it usually does if youāre doing something like dining
yeah it seems a lot harder to fit in than in high school lmao
and iāve heard theyāre pretty flexible with hours
TA hours are AWFUL though
in preparation for the role next quarter
i have almost entirely morning heavy classes
nothing past 2 pm
because thereās so many things that happen in the afternoon/evening
yeah that's one thing that sounds really good about college is being able to plan when you have classes
interresting tho
guys chill
š
portal prolly coming this week
they prolly got loads of application on nov 15th
why not just set one alarm for 5:55am at max volume
if u can wake up
w one alarm
u have superpowers
ive slept through 40 consecutive before lmao
Itās just discipline lol
how is discipline correlated to being a heavy or lighth sleeper
my grandma wakes up if you utter her name once at medium volume from across the house
and i only wake up either through 20 minutes of alarms or if you dump freezing water on me
or i sleep exactly like 9 hours before i need to get up
if i dont im frie
d
Itās just waking up to an alarmā¦
If itās at max volume that should at least disrupt ur REM cycle enough
since arriving on campus ive developed a bad habit of sleeping through my alarms
georgia tech and uiuc had their shit together
submitted on friday had portal saturday
yea ong
GT and RHIT had mine the fastest
doesnt for me
i just need to start going to sleep at carefully picked times
kinda hard rn but we'll try to lock it in
tempted to become a tour group leader in spring quarter
Say a different major walked in there, could they use their card to enter?
not that iām aware of
when my roommate gets back iāll try and drag him there to test that out
maybe don't go to bed past midnight every day
for sm reason they took the decimal points off š its probably fine right
actually nvm i sent the score directly so it should be
You guys got the portal?
no...
Idk if Iām using the portal wrong or not but there is NOTHING on that portal
wdym?
same
ditto
I agree
Did u do the uw netid
i havent gotten portal
but my friend got it yday
so looks like they in the procces
i have a net id from when i took summer classes a year and a half ago
it might be syncing to that
yeah
it looks like it was syncing to that
ohok
š¬
š
yeahhhh i think at this point you might want to try calling the admissions office ?
definitely by this time of year i had my admissions portal already
idk everyone else doenst seem to have theirs either
they didnt formally send me an email
but when i checked myuw it showed a thing for freshman admissoin status
... but that could be because i already had a netid linked to my email
yeah that might be it
in that case it might just be an issue with creating new netids?
nah just wait
its only been a few days
ive had schools take 3 or 4 days
also given the ui
i dont think their back end is very polished either
just call if need be
ah
have u seen their website
its lowk ass
im not even surprised negl š
i applied the 15th i might be cooked
Am I thr only person that likes the look of the portal?
the rest of us need to get our portals first š
ONG LMFOA
Perhaps it has to do with the large storm in the Seattle area
Itās so bad weāre getting hit a bit in NorCal
Bro I havenāt had power for 2 days because of this storm lmao
Iām in Washington and itās bad
Thereās entire roads near my house that are closed
Because of the storm
on campus it hasnt been too bad
some branches got knocked down, and i think hansee lost power for a bit
stay safe yalll
bro im literally chilling lol
its sunny and nice and breezy outside
but yea the cyclone has been wreaking havoc in seattle, bellevue and even redmond
yea havent had school for the past two days either
Bro I wish
All I had was a 2 hour late start yesterday
could be
but it just hit recently
really??
ive had no school today no school yday
probably no tomorr
indeed it has been wreaking havoc in redmond
i can vouch
ton of homies have no power
my house has no power until saturday š
Bro that is insane yeah I still donāt have power
And only for a 2 hour late start
Theyāre still āinvestigating the damageā at my house šš
Yeah so far
šššall decent schools, i wanna go utah for game designš
Nope not yet
hai
I still havenāt got a portal
If only for the snow storm I would be ok?
I submitted on Nov 14
Hola
wait iāve heard WA residents pay in state tuition for oregon unis
is that true
because of some program or whatever
i might apply to osu too then
Similar
Cause of WIE
WUE
You pay 1.5x in state
chill they had a huge storm
Still didn't get it
Did anyone send their sat score to UW officially through collegeboard?
I want to include mine but idk if they use self report or official only
FINALLY
p sure they can see it from common app?
Me too
on my portal it says they dont have a official test score and the admissions office said I need to send it officially
did u email or smth
yeah the online chat
did anyone send it officially?
It says its due on dec 31 so ill just send it by then
how do you self report them within ur app
is it common app
it sounds like if they want ur scores theyll ask u for them
yeah ima check the pdf and see if my score is on there
if not ill just send it officially its wtv
UW kinda sucks about it, don't worry. It took a couple of weeks before I finally got my portal. If you have a lot of anxiety about it though, you can contact the admissions office.
tysm!
yeah its just kinda scary seeing everyone else getting it
but not me
even people who submitted on the 15th like me
yeah the rollout is pretty slow, i think it happens in batches depending on how fast the download is. people don't even start reading your app until january.
so if you don't get anything by december 1st then feel free to contact the office
š why is their deadline so early then wtf
like having RD in November is actually insane
not even Dec 1 like UCs or UT
it's cause a bunch of grad students are reading your application to see if you're admitted to the university as a pre-sciences/pre-humanities major. if you pass that stage then you'll be sent to each individual school to see if you get accepted as a "freshman direct admit."
grad students are unpredictable sometimes cause they're studying too
the number of apps will determine the number of grad students they need to hire and train, which happens in nov/dec.
ah
so udub relies on grad students instead of professional AOs š
feels like it would be more efficient to hire/train a consistent # of AOs and have extra on stand-by ig
it's so that they can pay less... and also the admission office does read and review apps but it's a super small team
with a super small office
grad students just increase the capacity to read
š well i think they get around $3,000/mo in addition to anything they may already be doing. so 1000 apps over 2.5 months --> $7500???
that's like half a big mac meal in seattle per application
š
well, since readers only spend 6 minutes on an application, 12 minutes to get big mac meal is quite good
truth
wait grad students read it
š
oh nah
lowkey imagine if one the grad student is ur opp and they read ur app
š
yo what
š
its grads
interesting
some guy is going to be like "dang u good" and then "nah i'm jealous"
issok hopefully they aren't hungry when reading
i think i got it yday cus im in state
ur good bro
Generally AOs are quite young yes
Once you get higher up like directors they get a bit older
dude i thought they are some rich buisness people with 1 million in savings
š š š
that explains why admission decisons for some unis are quite random
š»at least they are not older generation! so they can understand my passion of running and technologyš
yeah real
being an ao does not pay wlel
update: nope
i might be tweaking but how do i self report my scores on the portal for act/sat. my portal just started working and i know UW is test optional
also
one of the UW cs majors needs to fix their portal
its legit just html
the cycle continues
i believe if you put your SAT/ACT on the common app that counts as your self-reported score
and in the rare instance where youāll need to submit an official score the admissions office will contact you directly to request it
ohhh ok. i was just confused because nothing is showing up under scores on the udub page
i think the scores section on mine was official ap submissions only
which was its own mess
i asked on their live chat and they said you would have to send it officially for them to consider it
idk tho
their deadline for it is like dec 31
Oh good so I can still submit now
yea, I am probably gonna do it to be safe
how do i send transcripts to UW???
i have additional transcripts from Dual enrollment
and online classes i took
I sent mine officially but they don't use it except in very rare cases
Not sure if self reported is okay, I just sent mine officially to all my schools that I've applied to thus far but I didn't apply to a lot compared to a lot of people so the cost wasn't as bad as I expected (plus my mom is paranoid and forced me to send it to all even when I said that a lot of schools accept self reported lol)
I would Google it
i think only if they ask? why is this so confusing ugh
i feel like schools in general need to be more clear on this
Exactly lol
so if we see this it should still be fine right as long as we self reported?
if u want it considered u have to send officially
yeah i think u should send it regardless
but it says āyou may be asked to send officialā so does that mean that admissions office will just contact us if we need to do it?
or should we do it regardless
uh idk, i asked someone on their live chat and they said you need to send it officially
but id check your common app pdf and see if ur self reported score is on there
lemme check hol up
yeah I checked it's on there
yuh
bro udub still hasnt sent me my portal
it sent me an email congratulating me for applying though
Lmao same
Why does college board charge money for this shit lmao
š¤·āāļø
wait we need to send our offical test scores to uw ash?
gang how do we know that all our materials have been recieved?
because i havent sent in proficiency scores yet
but it doesnt say anywhere that i havent
Test scores aren't a requirement. No need to send.
is uw test blind?
anyone still not receive a portal email from udub?
Same š
feel free to contact the admissions office, but i wouldn't fret too much. as long as you got the initial confirmation, it's just a matter of the tech department creating all the emails needed for you to access your portal.
from my understanding, there was something crazy that happened in the tech department last week that they are in the middle of fixing which may be a reason that things are slower this year...
forgot to share but my udub portal came on monday!!
they even let me do degree planning
oh really? this is interesting to know.
i think its just a case of them forgetting to restrict the degree planner tool to admitted students lol
but yeah
are you also able to access the real-time data for different classes (i.e. current registration numbers with buttons to notify you about registration)?
if so, big lol
This is really funny lol
I donāt think I had access to any of these systems two years ago when I applied
lmao
oh yeah btw dyk if phys 14x is worth if i alr did AP Physics C
bro i still don't have my portal
i applied on the 14th
uw is tweaking
Also parm are you NMSC?
Donāt do itā¦. Skip as many prerequisites as possible. I donāt know what AP Physics C covers
Iām not doing any Physics so I donāt have a lot of info, but thatās posted on the UW site
my delulu first year plan
assuming i can place out of 13x

i do want to take ling courses but probably towards the end of my degree
just to get p reqs out the way + also have ap english/spanish lang/lit credit
did you apply as cs or ce
Theyāre will probably be different requirements depending on whether youāre in your major. For instance, you may need to take at least 5 credits of composition.
The 33x math series isnāt recommended until year 2 because it truly is very difficult. Your first quarter is best spent creating community for your next for years and beyond, not at your desk all day. Typically most students find themselves struggling a lot because there is a much bigger jump from hs to uni than anticipated
mhm
Spring quarter also will kill you if you take all of those together. 312/332 are pretty challenging
true ig
There are plenty of people that have failed a class at college their first quarter because they took a load they thought they could handle⦠and realized they couldnāt. I am in an intro math class rn and am actually on my way to a 4.0 without needing to study significantly because Iāve developed really good study habits this past year that are effective ā many first year peers are struggling because the course loads really are quite intense
(Despite many having been 4.0, AP/IB valedictorians, having super high ACT/SAT scores, the likeā¦)
If youāre able to access DawgPath for MATH 334 I recommend taking a look at that. The distribution isnāt very friendly :)
Not to discourage ya but youād be starting pretty intense
damnn
wait so udub classes directly give grade points?
that makes having a 4.0 much harder š
wait really
š„²
Or so I hear...
From people I'd consider to be fairly smart. Look for the CEC on UW (Course Evaluation Catalog) to get an idea of the class intensity.
I think MATH 33x is pretty poor. 123 is also challenging to get a 4.0 in.
Many classes are curved, and in classes that aren't, many departments maintain that a 97-98% (raw score, no curve) is required to get a 4.0
insane wtf
this is so deflated š
so, generally speaking, you need at least a 70% in each course to receive credit. And you'll need about an 85% (although this is a more flexible range) to get about a 3.0 in a course. Some curves are more generous, especially if everyone does poorly on an exam.
That is why it is not recommended to take three intense classes in your first quarter at the UW... it can still be done but you just don't have a life :\
oh wow
cough cough camacho 126 midterm 2
š
97 for a 4.0 is diabolical
Take my advice -- I did 17 credits (although less challenging classes, subjectively) -- ECON 200, INFO 201, INFO 200. I got a 4.0 but didn't have any social life whatsoever.
I have a 95% in Calc 2 and that is a 3.7 right now. Hoping that the final tomorrow is hard to bring down the curve.
Every 0.5-1% is about a 0.1 GPA bracket. Lol.
obviously grades aren't super important in uni, but still
i feel so bad for the premeds
iām used to 90 = 4.0
ngl udub should just switch it to a 5.0 scale like MIT
nice wish
but that's why most current undergrads warn incoming first years... and most first years don't listen š
they have too much pride and they think they can own any class and become a ta instantly
Udub udub
udub ftw
Still have not gotten my portal š
always
yep
Iām not trying to do a āam I cookedā but after a bad stretch in dual enrollment calc 2 i have a C in the class and i might have to consider retaking it second semester. I already reported on common app that I was gonna take linear algebra next semester but that might have to change.
Like I just want to make sure that itās okay if I retake a college level class
i think its ok but depending on the colleges policy you may have to report both grades
for example csus i think only require u to report the highest grade from the course
im thinking of applying here but $80 š
isnt deadline gone a month agp
ago
yeah they only have regular decsion which was nov 15th
I still donāt have my portal smh
it's been a month almost that's crazy
goddamn
u should like call them
my friend didnt get theirs for a week then called and got it like 30mins later
bro fr
ah weird
well i emailed them
and they haven't gotten back to me
maybe i should call
no way it's the best thread
How do you like UW so far
absolutely love it holy crap
it's so nice
i'm lucky enough to get a single dorm so i'm sure that skews things but
love it sm LOL
omg i wanna go there so bad
That's so awesome
what major are you?
Please take me UW
shit scares me
college decsions start rolling in pretty soon
in janauary-march
cs
and probably international studies too
Omg cs?? Howās the major thatās what I applied for
LUCKY
š
i got a full ride so idk how applicable i am but iām in state and itās like 34k
although definitely inflated because of my single
iāve only been in one cs class lol but it FEELS incredible
itās like, every line of every lecture has been planned out to a tee. itās super nice and a tight ship
and itās probably just the intro courses but itās graded in a nice way, no annoying homework assignments, just programming
yeah š
got that ~mental health diagnosis~
also nice status
Ppph thatās fire
Ooooo
2% acceptance for oos and intl so
šš
Yeah itās kind of insane lmao
i mean
tbh its more or less the same for other cs publics
uiuc gt
uta
GO HUSKIES
not this season š
Have you seen next years schedule šš
nope
We play Ohio state at home
there's other sports aside from Football
Yeah I know
i love udub
Fr
let me IN
SAME
LET ME IN
here
i suppose it's not totally a full ride but almost
Congrats
wtf
bro hook me up with those scholarships
Are you an in-state student? If so, try googling the āHusky Promise.ā
if i want to change my major which one do i pick
also my portal doesnt say if i have a second choice major or not but i also dont rememebr if i put one down, is it suppsoed to show up int he portal
wait why does ur portal look better than mine
tf
what does urs look like
the portal is still booty
uhh idk ig so
on my old computer i made my default font futura
(i was in third grade)
š
actually wait not futura
century gothic
self burn
do i put other
epic css fail
Unfortunately only your first major is considered
Even if you listed a second major they donāt consider you for it :/
whens uw early round coming out
damn so u either get DTM, DTC, or reject?
there is no early round
also ROCE
RICE
you can also get waitlisted
though iām 90% certain if you get admitted off the waitlist itāll be DTC, so if you applied for cs youād instead be given pre-sciences
wdym by expected to graduate '27?
like are u graduating early?
yeah
Started my TA job with the Information School for INFO 201 :P
Let me know if you're taking that class š
For what class
cse 12x
LETS GOOOO
Usually youāre supposed to receive a decision at least a month before the term starts per the ASE labor contract
UDub finna go crazy
i just had the interview last week, they said we should hear back sometime this week
@cursive knot are you a running start dude?
nope, just had 45+ credits entering (from AP + UWHS)
kinda got wrecked by a single grade first quarter, but it is what it is
hm alr then
its pretty nice
like just going there as a whole
it took a couple weeks of getting into a rhythm of literally doing stuff there, but after a while it was manageable
biggest piece of advice id give (with the context that iāve only been there for a single quarter) is to find your space to get stuff done
both figuratively as in finding your niche at uw
and literally as in, find a good space to be productive because iāve found they can vary wildly
i worked for Professor Mamishev so i get you
lol
ah
iāll also be so real
it helps to have been in-state
cuz i know a ton of people at uw already
thats why im here
walking across opposite ends of campus one night i ran into six different people that i knew
remind me - ece works like any other engineering major, where you get admitted to the CoE and then you have to apply to the major specifically later, right?
based
mhm
ah
well if you do end up in ECE youāll be spending a lot of time near the allen building
(my fav on campus !)
i got grad students to give me the method for free lunch
i ate like a king during my time there
lmao
microsoft cafe got me šš
i used to hate it a bunch cuz they forgot my order once and theyāre kinda pricy, but itās significantly better than anything at the hub or walking back to the north dining hall
(and, $10 sushi !)
Oh interesting! Maybe itās not a part of the labor union? My pay grade is higher too than CS (but I work fewer hours)
its part of ase i think
they might have just gotten a bit of an extension
ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
@clever canyon second word of advice that just came to me:
if youāre ever given the opportunity to do something
and itās in a window
like āsign up for such and such thing before (some date/time)ā
do it asap
nah fr tho
especially if itās for class registration, the earlier you can do it the better
Well lmk if you get the job! Gl
Exactly
acceptance rate
thats only for CS
which admittedly is terrible
but even presciences in like 30% vs 40%
and i mean if you get in
yeah
yo parm
dyk what i put to change my major
do i put other
Prolly other
other yh
fr
not portal
its on website
their portal SUCKS
any aos seeing this
your portal is AWESOME
w
good luck future huskies šŖ
Praying you get in from the start š
hopefully
outside of ivies that give full aid (HYPM + brown) and UT/tamu
and ig gtech and purdue are pretty cheap
yeah
Fr fr
which ones r they
Wdym
like which 6 colleges accepted u alr
ah okay
Colorado School of Mines, U Minnesota, WSU, Boise State, Oregon State, University of Utah
oh lord
wsu
i still get emails from them
about my password expiring in a week
Oh yeah I emailed them
They wonāt stop
They said āok we removed your emailā
Lmao what
From who?
wsu
Oh yeah lmao
I am not going to WSU
I do not want to live in PULLMAN for 4 years
Not going to happen
Nothing against the school and glad I have a safety but yk
pleasant surprise??? they reclassed me as domestic
wait shit this makes me eligible for puple & gold
go huskies!!!
yes a pleasant belated christmas surprise! if domestic means in-state that means you classify for the "husky promise," which isn't purple and gold but much better anyhow
oos
but yeah
Ah. Still better! Thatās great news
Also means you just had your reader score your app š
āInitial reviewā = someone reading ur app
Either that or the financial aid office sorting thru everyone
well we're still t-3 months until the decision drops
Yeah
Canāt really do anything now
Doesnāt help to get super anxious or anything
man it feels like UW isnt talked about enough outside of football ig
like uiuc/gtech have equally ranked cs programs and they get wayyy more press
Itās cause itās public and not as prestigious as UCLA or Berkeley
true but im moreso talking about in relation to places like UT/UIUC/GT
how's the math and physics programs
Ohhh
AMATH is matched with Princeton
In terms of qualify
Quality
I know several physics undergraduate students⦠and I pray for their health ššš
Itās hard
I know itās good but idk what their career office looks like
wow
man even if i get presciences i might consider going ngl
just for math
(and maybe try to transfer into ECE or ACMS)
but yeah i fw udub and seattle heavy
Itās hardā¦
I got a 94% and that was still only a 3.8 for an intro math class lol
yeah i heard the grading scale is lwk cooked
Of course our class had the highest scores ever in the history of the university
i know ACMS transfer is nearly as competitive as CS
and they dont have dtm
is math bs harder to get into than ba?
wait now im wondering do they just have a small amount of ACMS slots
bc CS probablky has way more demand
Yes
I think EE is slightly less competitive but still hard
i honestly only know one or two people in that major
and one acms major
ece has a high dtm rate
BUT if you do 8-9 courses well plus do a couple easy things, you're guaranteed admission to the MS
something like 40% oos or whatever
Current University of Washington juniors and seniors in Bachelor of Science programs who complete the following courses and other requirements will be guaranteed admission to the on-campusĀ Master of Science in Applied & Computational Mathematics program in the Department of Applied Mathematics. Students are responsible for applying to the Gradua...
check this out
interesting
i mean personally im more interested in theoretical math/cs (hence why i asked earlier about math 33x)
but acms is a really cool program
ahhh
i hate (with a passion) theoretical...
it's awful
especially when you're learning it at 5pm...
š
i've never done it for math but i did it for stats...
theoretical statistics sucks
ok so udub has:
- AMATH (with data science option)
- CFRM (comp finance & risk management) (with data science option)
ACMS with - data science/statistics
- discrete math & algo
- math econ/quant finance
- sci comp and numerical algos
feels like this could be streamlined š
i used to be a big stats hater but recently ive appreciated it more
brooo nooo they got rid of so many interesting options
HA, this is the type of stuff that i find 0 interest in:
yea honestly they really don't have a huge course list so it makes sense that they don't offer as many now
it's just too many to keep track of
ive read on reddit that a lot of ACMS majors think that its kinda bloated/confuses employers
and tbh there's like a lot of places where it looks like it could be streamlined
yeah ofc
for what it's worth it's bad to have to educate employers about what your degree is
if it's too niche then you're not versatile enough career-wise to be good which could actually be a detriment
they're like "this guy knows everything applied math-wise, this person only knows this sector of applied math, we prefer everything over one thing"
my hot take is that all math/cs majors should probably complete a common core and then just spend like 2 years on whatever specialization(s)
i think AI/tightening CS market is going to kill off the codemonkeys that dont learn anything theoretical about CS
yeah for sure
if you're going into more theoretical, then you're probably more oriented towards pursuing academia/research. whereas people who are more practical/applied are more likely industry-bound.
I think the DOD / dept of state are both pretty big employers from UW for amath
true, but most CS majors have to learn some level of theoretical cs
you're true
and by theoreitcal i dont necessarily mean research focused
but more so focusing on how computation works and such
rather than classes on how to code or whatever
or maybe intro cs classes will just become core to all STEM majors like intro calculus/physics
omg guys help
i just think that those studying more theoretical things are more likely to pursue academia. i'm not sure that there's a huge relationship between what you study and how well you do career-wise. there's too many variables
yeah i understand wym
however people who dont learn anything about theory or whatever can easily be replaced by AI
hm, i still think it's too early to make a call on who will or won't be replaced by AI in the CS world. there are a lot of legal considerations already being made when it comes to intellectual property rights
but yes in general right now it is hard for any cs major, whether or not you learn a lot of theory, to get a job considering the current job market. it's been suffocated and over saturated from the sheer number of students
yeah
āBabe pls we need more nerds at our schoolā
HELL NAH
We stopped playing them for a reason
working out my course schedule and imma have wayyy over the 225-credit limit by the time i graduate š ap was a scam
such a scam

Definitely contact the office of admissions... check your spam/junk/trash folders first.
you should have received it by the first week of december...
atp they're in the middle of looking at applications so i'd ask them asap

March 9th-15th
for main
1st to 15th šš
i was reading reddit
and someone emailed admissions and they said 9-15
idk
Same here
yeah idk i was confused too
cause i saw 1-15
and then 9-15
but we all know
15th u shud have a decsion
is there a order they follow for decsions
like high stats or what š
i hope so š
i'm pretty sure they release all decisions at once
it's just they expect they'll finish sometime in the march 1-15 window so will release them in that time frame
its not rolling im p sure
What do they send?
What did you get from the allen school?
if you get in for cs you get a second letter
oooh what's on that letter?
do yk how hard direct admission into business is for oos
you also get a big booklet of stuff
āwelcome to the allen schoolā
basically a second acceptance letter but for cs
if you end up accepting youāll get a bit more stuff i think
like all allen students get a shirt within the first couple of days of fall quarter
probably around the same as cs out of state since itās also DTM
maybe a bit higher
hmm i see
ooh that's reallyt cool
I mean it has to be quite a bit higher than CS no OOS atleast?
thereās also a bunch of other stuff that you can get thatās not necessarily part of an acceptance package but it comes with being accepted into the school
Because cs is 2% oos
like what?
probably
