I was too exhausted bc of mit
and i think she was a nice perspective
no this is real
like it was nastyyy
u have to pay to send all ap scores ew
it’s fine umm the dorms r dirty and lots of rats and harvard better 🙏🙏
lmao

Omg? 😭
did it in a car ✅
oh..
-was sick ✅
ok wellll
HELP
😝
😭🙏
what are you apply to anna?
it’s fine um i’ve had my shitty share of interviews
college of arts and sciences political economy LMAOO
🔥
Lowkey wanna do a campaign internship
Maybe I’ll be doing it in Boston in 2 years who knows
yessss
Definitely is. GU Politics has worked with UChicago and Harvard’s IOPs before, it’s a nice consortium
Obviously ours is better 😤
We can’t beat that ofc but GULC is nothing to sneeze at either, esp if you want to work with federal law
Yea we’ve had some fire fellows (experienced political professionals who work with students over each semester)
I’ve had the chance to interact with some of them this semester and they’re amazing
tony fabrizio and heather nauert for me
tony was trump's chief pollster for the last three elections
he's an amazing guy, no matter how you feel about the current admin he has a lot of great stories to tell and is definitely in tune with the political landscape
brings a ton of experience and analytical information
i see
well i would say that because i've spoken to him at length
ok that’s fair
will say that it's GU Politics' mission to bridge the current divide and i think they do a great job with it. many people who are liberal work with the more conservative fellows, and vice versa
and they always have a great experience
yes and no
oh i think that’s nice
technically anybody can be a part of gu politics' discussion groups with the fellows
so each week they have discussion groups where they talk about a particular issue/topic
and the fellows lead it with their expertise etc.
to be more involved with the fellows, you can apply to be a Student Strategist and work under their tutelage
it's a great experience
besides the fellows though, GU Politics has a couple of other things they do
they have a political newspaper which is amazing
they have a podcast which brings on some cool guests as always
there are also other wings like GU Votes and the Advance Team which are involved in making people more involved in the voting process and the GU politics events respectively
this website is helpful for those interested
For Georgetown students, there are volunteer and leadership roles to suit every level of time commitment here at GU Politics like GU Votes and the SLC.
anybody who has any questions, im happy to let you know of the work i do at GU Politics in a pm!
it's definitely one of the highlights of Georgetown
i never thought about this but i would've written about gu politics had i known more about it
or like spoken about it during an interview etc.
ofc the political clubs here are amazing as well, people are constantly creating new things in national security, IR and advocacy etc.
all super cool
real
included it in my essay 🔥🔥
god what was it
idk
can’t remember
smth smth bipartisanship 🤓
could've prolly used better descriptions for why it's unique but that works😭
they are certainly serious about getting both sides equally represented- there are generally 3 democratic-leaning individuals and 3 republican-leaning individuals
those can be arbitrary descriptions of how the actual individuals are and what they believe but that's something to note
i don’t know
i don’t remember
my essay ass tho
i’m not getting in
🤑🤑
💀
when’s the decision date
is this hard to get involved in? i really like polisci and ir but im also interesting in journalism!
nope! the newspaper is very accessible, perhaps among the most accessible, to those with no experience in writing!
that said, the political newspaper at GU Politics, On the Record, isn't the only one that exists
there are the actual school newspapers like The Hoya and the Voice
and other more focused ones like The Caravel, which is the international relations newspaper
but there are always new things cropping up and i don't think you need to look too hard if you merely want to do political writing!
which ones r application based
bro my teacher today was like "u should go to georgetown" Help??!?!
outta nowhere
i didnt even know bro knew it was a school
☠️
bro best worry about it once you commit here 😂
thats right ak
- yk what
thats not gna happen
🔥
goodbye
again tho pm if you have any genuine qs
i would say thought that finance/consulting have the roughest applications
legit you've got to lock in for those
wow thats so amazing i love how many newspapers there are! thank u so much this is all so helpful!!
Times are turbulent. As a campus, we’re going through not one, but two presidential transitions. Things feel more uncertain and chaotic than ever. In times like these, it can feel like the right answer is to hunker down, avoid starting any new initiatives and stand pat. Wrong. Now, more than ever before, it is time...
"When I’ve spoken at GAAP weekends, I’ve reflected on “the Georgetown difference” — our competitive advantage vis-à-vis the Stanfords, Harvards and Columbias of the world. Part of what I see as the Georgetown difference is the entrepreneurial spirit that has suffused our undergraduate student population for decades."
from an incredibly respected Georgetown IR professor
georgetown seems perfect the more i hear the more i like it lol
im not sure if ive asked this here before but i want to do either ir w a minor in journalism and maybe polisci. ik that political science and journalism are in a different school than sfs, so is that possible? basically what im asking is if you can hop schools and take a minor in one you weren’t admitted to
i dont know much abt the journalism minor but im sure you could do it while in the college
political science (government here) is in the college but you also have international politics and all the other government majors
that said, there are some restrictions on things which i myself find frustrating...the internal transfer process isn't the easiest
personally i started to like it once i started doing stuff here- probably what everyone should be doing if they come here!
ohhh okay!
its just the price 😪
Hopefully you get aid if you apply for it then!
georgetown kids are cooked
no good 😭
real
i didnt even wanna go
reall
I love that every once in a while we stop talking about Georgetown
And just engage in UChicago slander
I don’t get this lol, what’s the tea 😅
ur the tea
Exactly, wouldn’t quite consider myself cooked if I say so myself
Although always curious to hear what people applying think about the school. Personally I didn’t know much about GU until I got in because basically nobody I knew or from my city had ever gone there
oh ok real
i think georgetown kids r snobby & cooked
but other than that
i love dc 🔥
my interviewer def convinced me
😍
I mean the average income of students speaks for itself. But would still say most people here are very friendly
😭
Fr tho. Only if you do finance as I remember someone here saying tho💀
well no no i marry the rich kid
I mean since they’re big on gov stuff. Most gov internships are gonna be cooked
and i become a stay at home wife
They just fired hundreds of nuclear workers lol
Well I mean I’m doing an internship on the hill rn
💀
Dod, nsa
I get what you’re saying
Don’t think you know the full nuance the way we do though so j won’t comment too much
Thats probs fine but fed internships r finished most likely
🔥
Lol
‘Finished’ isn’t the word I would used. Definitely a setback
DoD and State Department probably won’t have cuts
I mean they’re probably gonna limit the spots available at the least
I thought dod is starting to see cuts
Hiring freeze but there’s nothing relating to cuts from what k know. Murmurs they might expand it but that’s just what I hear over here
Sorry to hear :(
Someone shared this tweet w me: https://x.com/DanLamothe/status/1891992643342684488
Morale is not great,” one military officer told me today of expected layoffs in his Defense Department agency. “No one trusts that they won’t jack this whole thing up.
So there might be smt brewing
Actually the DoD is exempt from it in the first place
Just remembered
Well thats what I thought too
But so were the nsa and nuclear ppl too
Im pretty sure
This came out today so makes sense. I don’t know, can’t comment about some of these things publically so I’ll just leave it at that. GU students generally find a way is all I’ll say
Interesting
What you’re right about is that more people are looking into the private sector for sure
Yea
Whicu idk if that’s a bad thing on your wallet
People here go into consulting all the time and I think we’ve always been good at having that pipeline regardless of the major
Wouldn’t it be a good thing? B/c i would assume gov pays less than private
It is good for the wallet. Maybe not if you genuinely wanted to make a difference
Consider how rn a lot of the consulting contracts are also getting cut
Deloitte saw cuts in their government contracts
All public info ofc not sharing anything new
Yea both my parents i think are contractors and theyre seeing cuts in some of the big contracts they have
There definitely is instability here. Whether it means we’re cooked or not, feel that judgement is up to you
I’m happy I’m only a freshman is all I’ll say
So I’ve got time to figure it out
Probably not cooked but some gu kids may have to pivot
yea. i mean in all honesty the pivot to the private sector has already been happening
there's always been this thing here that too many SFS and CAS kids go into consulting even if they're majoring in government related stuff
banking as well
it's not that uncommon
it's just the environment
that being said i dont see any less political activity on campus
feel like it's just a little bit of a setback
but yea it definitely could be diff on other campuses
ik there was a WSJ article which mainly focused on AU
and they did mention us
Interesting
Tf
Yea I’m guessing DC overall is just in traumatic shock rn
Guys do we think less people actually went through with their RD applications after Trump won 😭
Anything to increase our chances
I don’t think it’s that nuanced, as someone from a developing country that relies heavily on foreign aid and has seen several relatives lose NGO jobs I think shuttering USAID is completely nonsensical
And I’ve seen the big power rivalries play out it will definitely benefit China
This is one of the craziest but plausible reaches I’ve heard in a minute 😭
Lmao 😭 anything that might increase our odds 🙏🙏
I mean there’s always nuance in issues like this. PM if you’d like to discuss.
Yea this is undeniable
Guys this is another reach but technically given Trump’s unprecedented drive against the federal government and just everything else
Wouldn’t less high achievers actually commit to SFS if they got in this spring?
Like if you get into Yale Columbia and SFS naturally the first two would seem like better options now cause they’re not in Trump’s DC
soooo wouldn’t Georgetown have to admit a slightly higher share of applicants this spring than in previous years 😭
i mean maybe, but in my eyes as someone who wants to go into foreign service, i wouldve still applied and attended bc trump will be leaving office before i graduate, and regardless of the fed cuts, if someone still wants to work in the government, DC is still the best place to be
it would be harder to land and keep a fed job, so wouldnt going to the best foreign service school in the nation help me get one? is my line of thought
thank god u withdrew tho 🙏
phew i get the spot
gonna put my app back in just for you
At least your withdrew 😭 my friend got into SFS EA and then he got into Oxford and he won’t decline at Georgetown until after April 😭
And he won’t withdraw anywhere else in the U.S. cause he wants to see where he could’ve gotten in
Bro
nah i’m the opposite, i don’t wanna know who would’ve rejected me 💀
Some people might be more motivated to attend to make a difference. Not everyone in the SFS does foreign service or even politics, it’s just the international focus which is really the overarching theme
This is a pretty fair statement to make and honestly the thinking I have as well. It’s harder for us at the moment but we’re also best placed in general
whats the point if jit already got in ea lmao
yeah agreed
Came out on the 27th last year
Oh great
No on the portal it says BY april 1st
EA came out 2 days before the BY date
Still earlier than what the BY date is
which is how Georgetown and pretty much every other school release decisions
oh no
I forgot to send my ap scores to georgetown for admission
like for consideration
😭
did u check off that u would send them
no I didn't
but just submitting in general is probably better, right?
yeah
but if u didnt check "yes" for the question asking if ur gonna submit ap scores
u chose that path then
oh well
They aren’t test optional?
they dont require sending ap tests though
they are AP optional but if you report AP scores i think you need to send them in officially?
yep, that's how it is
I just forgot to indicate that I wanted to send ap scores
like I forgot to hit the checkbox in the application
I didn't send it anyways 💀
yeah that's what I'm telling myself
because my gpa is really good for those classes
but I'm coping at this point
if u have good sat/act ur fine no
yeah 1570
so like
hopefully they don't think I got 1s on everything
.
Does Georgetown admit differently for special programs? I got in EA for public policy but that’s run jointly with their graduate public policy school, so I was curious if my application was reviewed differently
georgetown has direct admit, and iirc, its just reviewed by the undergrad committee like normal
but might want to double check
either way it dont really matter, you got in, so congrats!
waiting for rd from SFS
Yeah lol thanks
Good luck
🙏
Plsplsplsplsplspls take me
Is there a confirmed date yet
Yeah it’s definitely April 1st
EA wasn’t on dec 15
Calling it rn March 28th
EA came out on the 13th (Friday before 15th)
Georgetown and other schools historically release on Fridays
Plus vibes idk
Then why would they put April 1st
It means by april 1st
Lots of schools have already released before their “official” release dates by now
Bruh
my college counselor has told me it's probably going to be 27th-28th
since historically that's when they do it
but realistically it could be any date from now until april 1
Pretty sure it was on a Wednesday last time around
Im gonna die
good luck yall
Anyone know what free merch they give out at gaap
Personally I don’t, but I do know you at least get a t shirt
Lowkey they’re super stingy with giving admitted students stuff compared to other unis, but I think once you get here you’ll have enough free stuff
smh my head
They released on Wednesday last year,
I reckon it’ll be the 26TH.
i feel like it’ll be the 26th too
i doubt they would release after ivy day
Fingers crossed
Yea it was before Ivy day last time
a2calendar says 3/28 but thats just speculation id be very happy if it was 3/26
I want 3/27 it’s my birthday lol
26 is my birthday and I don’t want it on that day
Buttt the admissions officers will take note of the fact that it’s coming out on your bday
Aka you’ll get in
Hmmm ur right nvm
I got into GWU yay 🙏🙏🙏
Ayy congrats
I got GWU and American, pls Georgetown complete the sweep 😞🙏
Samee lol
I’m at GAAP weekend — dean of admissions casually dropped they’re trying to drop RD Tuesday
Dm if you need anything while you’re here!
georgetown you’re my only hope
I think I’m good but thanks!
this one's gonna hurt hte most im ngl
They’re giving out free shirts tomorrow :mischievous:
where? 👀
Red square
icl I’m getting tired of gaston hall
Literally everything has been hosted in there
dub im cosplaying as a new student
ill be there 😤
But I’m p sure it says class of 2029
sigh
i mean the issue with anywhere else is that classes are actively going on
i think they could do gonda hall as well but yea
What is gaap?
true
They’ve mainly put stuff in healy, white-gravenor, and the ICC basement
Georgetown admissions ambassador program
They organize admitted students day and a lotta other stuff too
at least they were in the good buildings😭
Yeah
Oh did you get into gu?
@potent comet
Awaiting
Nice
I know I shouldn’t but I feel unqualified
The mfs I’ve met are private school kids who have served 23 terms in the US Congress or something
im not in darnall but i think it's definitely overhated
the community can be really good
some of my closest friends are from there. im in harbin and it's really meh
reynolds and copley are the best ones
dw abt it, i felt this way too
i actually still do in a way but i feel im doing quite well for myself
i did my HS abroad and the resources i had pale in comparison to some of the other New England Privates that people go to here
EOTD you're making your life here so make the most of it here, the past doesn't matter
So I’ve heard
Is the video of the kid falling off a vil A roof real 💀
Exactly yes
ive no idea but like i wouldn't be surprised, it's vil a after all
feel like it's important to have trusted upperclassmen to talk to when you're dealing with these emotions
for me i was lucky to have them
Is this via peer advisor?
no, reach out to upperclassmen
peer advisers are relatively useless
depends on if they're chill like always but they have an obligation to help you for a certain amount of time
post that you need to form genuine relationships
yea
again feel free to reach out if you have any qs, even better if you commit here
Thanks
this really is a great school- think it takes time for a lot of people to realize that
certainly took a bit of time for me
Yoo i just got back from georgetown
prob just got back from a trip to georgetown
interesting
I can second this I was at REA gaap weekend and the Dean said he wants to do it this Tuesday night hopefully
🙏
Massively underrated
Small endowment but mighty community and teachers
I feel like if gtown went on common app and superscored SATs they would have like a rly low acceptance rate
Bc they are already about 10% on their special application
They do superscore
Yea Charles deacon has a unique system in place
fuck?
💀
There’s some talk that it might happen..
Idk abt the SAT super scoring tho, I alr feel like they do that during the admissions process and they’re just asking for all of your test scores to see progress
lmao yes ceo i js talked to u 💀
I heard that from another friend there too lmao
Oh cool
What icebreaker group were you
so if theyre right then its dropping... tomorrow
dang
yeah
so its dropping tmr?
Are you a freshman/junior/sophomore or senior?
Although I don't know if I have been admitted to GU, it is very likely that I would commit here, and although I applied to A&S, I'm torned between doing a major in govt in A&S, a JPPP in A&S and McCourt in Public Policy, or going to SFS
I know I would be interested in any of these programs
But I have to pick one if I end up going
I'm a freshman
i can't speak about the public policy program, it's not super popular as of now. that said, Gov is probably the better and more established route here
You would have to internally transfer to the SFS if you're interested in doing that
while these are not the only majors on offer, popular gov-tied options are International Politics, International Political Economy, International Economics, and BGA (Business and Global Affairs)
Most likely
Gov at the college is very good but imo SFS is the best undergrad school but I’m also v biased
I mean I think it’s a slightly shallow way to think that- not that it’s wrong, only that the opportunities you get aren’t that different
Believe me I’m doing the internal transfer rn but I once had a very rigid opinion about the SFS being the best, idt I quite have that now
I just love the way the SFS has their curriculum and some of the classes
People who want to double major also can’t do that in the SFS
.
Yea it is shallow im only saying this cuz i got in to SFS and the FP magazine has it at #1 😭😭😭
But gov at Georgetown is very good
im prob gonna meet with an academic advisor
I think tho, when I was at the students day I liked how everyone in the SFS was similar interests and were all very ambitious and such
I feel like there is more of a collaborate community when there is a whole school doing similar
cause i wanna make sure i make the right choice
I mean SFS has an international spin on everything
It’s also slightly more pre professional
I would say Gov is more a traditional polisci course
Pre-professional sounds good
When the school was made in early 20th century it aimed to produce diplomats, naturally, its curriculum prepared its grads very well for the FSOT, and other exams for people wanting to go into the foreign service tho
Only about 3% of sfs grads actually choose to go there tho, also bc SFS prepares you and gives you skills to work in many fields such as consulting, IB, Non profit, think tank, multilateral, foreign government, CIA, fbi erc
I’m not saying you’re wrong for any of this, I’m just saying that idt you’ve got the full view
Well yes
You are still taking Gov courses
Yes yes
And the experience is the same
I get the same opportunities as an SFS student
People go into consulting regardless of where they are
Sure the opportunities are the same
But like the learning is also an experience and they are different
But similar
I would be interested in what specific skills you think the SFS gives
Do they not have a foreign language requirement for example
Only because I think perception can be different from the actual experience- I’m not saying that you don’t have an idea about thjngs but I would caution you from assuming things are much different than what it is
College also does, SFS requires proficiency
I mean it is different, because they are two different majors in different schools under different admin. Like saying there is no difference I would say is also not true there is going to be a difference. But they are very very similar is what I’m saying
Not a good or a bad difference
Many of the courses are the same
Understood. I mean tbh I had the same view as you did, my view about the SFS has slightly diminished as I’ve been here. Take that as what you will
Why has it diminished 😭😭😭
Well im trying to tell you that but youre more interested in reasoning your way about the SFS😂
I thought that I wouldn’t be able to break IR work and think tanks the same if I were in the college
I’m not ready for tmrw bro 💔
And I realized it’s just plain wrong and in some aspects I prefer how I can double major in the college
You’ll be great dw
Bro don’t make me regret my decision 💀💀💀
I mean I guess most ppl compare SFs to the college as a whole; like someone studying psychology in the college isn’t going to have the same experience as an average SFs student
Well I mean I’m happy to talk about this but like I would just say- the SFS is Georgetown, but Georgetown is not the SFS
Yeah
I’ve come up with this on my on so don’t steal this quote but I think this is what people don’t get
I won’t 💀
Well we’re known for Gov and IR and you can do that regardless of where you are
I mean this is like saying CMU is only CS
Do u regret choosing gtown
Of course not
Ok ok
I wouldn’t have had it any other way
This school truly is the best for politics
All kinds
I mean like I mainly chose to come to gtown bc of SFS, but not for the college if that makes sense
Like it sounds shortsighted
And I’ve got more opportunities while I’ve been here than I could’ve dreamt of at another school
It is shortsighted but I see what you mean
I lived abroad for 12 years so I thought the same way
Like I always see how SFS this SFS that SFS
Maybe they need to change their marketing
Maybe?🤷♂️
what time r decisions fuck?
i js need it for my ego

or not
bc im gonna get rejected
Probably 6pm eastern
rough
oh my go
i keep forgetting its tmr
💀
do they send an email day b4 or smth
Idk, for REA on the portal they said they would do it on the Sunday then they all of a sudden drop of the Friday before no warning
the REA drop was foul
I had the flu when it dropped
I thought I was hallucinating
no email no nothing😭
I remember getting the news in this thread when it came out and then subsequently getting deferred at a sushi restaurant
fun times
will not be going to a sushi restaurant tomorrow 🙏
Georgetown University will begin accepting the Common Application in this fall’s application cycle, multiple sources familiar with the decision confirmed to The Hoya. The shift, which will begin with applicants for admission to the undergraduate Class of 2030, marks a major change away from the university’s years-long practice of using its o...
ts pmo icl sybau gtown
please😭😭😭
Tomorrow right?
Yall thank god not this yr I would not have gotten in otherwise 💀
thats true
im gonna get rej either way
But more lay prestige for gtown ☺️
real
well well well
Watch them make an ED round too
😄
It’s giving UChicago rebrand
gtown finally t20 now
fuck
5-6pm
Terrible decision
Charles Deacon sold
I hope it comes out Wednesday!!!
To add on although the portal was from the dinosaur era I think the separate app made it feel more personal and less like I was a cog in the machine
And now they’ll prolly get hundreds/thousands of shotgunners who know nothing about the school other than its place on US News rankings
Honestly I actually rlly liked the application portal. It felt more personalized and the way things were organized just clicked in my brain
I felt like common app was unnecessary complicated when finding tabs- but GU was just all there which a cute lil building and tree
gu buns for makin me do allat
you might be the only one ive ever heard saying this
if you get in you dont need to glaze this way💀
even sigining up for the portal was a pain,
long ass form that doesnt save
and u gotta pay for an application before you submit
ts pmo
tbh idrm this aspect of this as it assures that you'll apply, but not everyone can pay $75 up front so it does seem weird
georgetownnnnn
accept meeee
plsss
so i can reject youuu

@crisp ore will def get in
instead of me
hope that happens
williams over georgetown?
bro georgetown is probably next tuesday not this tuesday ngl 😭
because next tuesday is april 1
fair fair
but isnt it usually after ivy day at least
or am i mistaken
It was before Ivy day last year
W
I know AK said this is glaze but I kinda agree LOL
Some sections were a pain in the ass but it did feel personalized
if i dont get in im blaming the funky application
how they set activities up made it a million times harder for me to look good
yes lmao
williams full ride
💀
georgetown like 8k/yr npc
washu was full ride so my parents wouldnt let me go to a lower ranked school *prestige whores
idk what rankings say but id choose GU for govt over some "higher ranked" schools
Thanks queen
I just rlly don’t like the common app format. I had a lot of trouble navigating it like for changing decision plans, and how multiple buttons could take u to one place. It felt over complicated- ya GU was ancient, but at least it was all easy to see at once
So gtown today?
nah im joking when i said that, but i would say that like a solid 95% of the school agrees w me on this
it's something one of the many consulting clubs could've solved for the school if they simply moved to a more modern platform
i think we're on the rise for business, i see us for undergraduates as being a top 10 school at the very least and sophomores and up are doing amazing things
generally all things humanities are amazing here
hopefully gu being on common app doesnt cause more ppl to apply 😣
that's 105% going to happen so im sorry to disappoint you
i know tons of people who didn't apply because of the application portal
georgetowns acceptance rate is going to drop to like 5% after going on the common app💀
I find the portal to be an excellent measure of demonstrated interest
Because you need to at least like the school enough to re-do the entire proccess
no definitely, 100% agree with that. i do see that as being somewhat notable
Now its just gonna be another push of a button
that being said, i literally knew nothing abt georgetown until got in
and there are many such cases
you can kind of bullshit your way through esp if you're interntational
that won't change
For some schools I felt this way as well, but I was lucky bc my uncle went to GU (for business)
i also don't have a super high view of colleges making their applicants fight tooth and nail for demonstrated interest
so I had personal anecdotes
true
i think this is something that the american college system does badly, we should be more ambivalent like in the UK
my roommates and i are all international students so we have this pov
If college admissions is a spectrum, the US system is prob towards the one extreme end and UCAS is a bit "left" of center
Bc the "holistic" nature of UCAS is very surface level
The personal statement is a why major essay
very little holistic there tbh
I enjoy the ability of the US college admissions to be holistic
But I feel like its counterintuitive
Bc instead of students being themselves and holistic admissions helping them
They shape their entire personality over what they think is the right path to college
Which makes holistic kinda useless since it becomes like an "entry requirement"
Now ik this doesnt apply to everyone, but I feel like there is a "mold" where quite a few students choose to conform too
And it leads to less concentration of genuine actions that are personal
Then again in my country you get or dont get into uni based on ONE national exam
Which is also anti-educational imo, bc most ppl just forget everything they did in HS after that exam
I think holistic admissions are way too subjective
Unless there are 5 ppl doing the first read of my application (not the committee) it’s not gonna fly bye me
Oftentimes u have 1 or maybe 2 ppl deciding if u go to committee
UCAS is hardly holistic I feel like, beside LSE most colleges aren’t really considering your PS
No I agree, but having holistic elements is a good thing
It’s out today as we all know 😭
I think holistic is good in theory but it’s not executed well usually ever
There’s a diff
That’s a fair point and I agree. I just think thah having it in the mix does well to ensure that you get a good diversity of abilities and perspectives
Yep
I care more about the way someone thinks and the ideas they have so
But again, most of the admissions officers are generally very similar in values they believe in and generally will pick the same applicants
its weird tho
cause a kid with a 45/45 IB from our school got rej from kings (no cv)
but a girl with a 42/45 + a very good cv got in
Holistic can account for it- it’s not a perfect system, I simply want holistic elements tk be included, that’s all
Yes I agree I agree it’s just really hard to make it “fair”
Bc it often hinges on a couple ppl
ITS TODAY?
Like Oxford for example is mostly objective but the ONE subjective thing they have on the application (the interview) which is literally 25 minutes long has like 4 other ppl in the call
At least that was for me ik that’s more than usual
So like at least u know you’re getting a fair assessment
Did you get in?
Okay now I get why you’re salty
Yes same, I’m planning to do a sem abroad there
Yes I would like to do that
Me and other intl got on the short end of the stick due to HAT disruptions and them putting more emphasis on UK qualifications like A level and GCSE
My best friend does PPE there and he fully deserves to be there. That said i think Georgetown has its strengths over Oxford for politics
Imagine the british baddies you can find there. Now im praying i get into georgetown
Which feel doesn’t make me as sad as I used to be
Who said they aren’t there here ‼️
Lol true
Yeah ppl definitely deserve to be there (usually) but like I’m just salty cuz my Hat Score was like wayyyy over the offer holder average
And they still rejected me
But there are more internationals applying so it’s more difficult
What are the strengths in your opinion
Bc Oxford is generally regarded the top place for politics since like forever
Not for the US tho
Well yea
Better study abroad, better political exposure through being in the nation’s capital, internships through the school year, less of an academic emphasis (which you may or may not like)
Bigger future
I can tell you’re not as secure with your Georgetown admit, I’m open to speaking to you because I was once in a similar place
Trust me, you won’t feel the same way in 6 months time
Also more career pathways if you’re in the SFS and College, whereas you’re bogged a little bit more by the course you do in the UK
Depends on the subject
True
Ok I’ll dm u :))
LSE is better in general but the gap is becoming smaller
I didn’t apply to LSE because I was under the impression that you needed calc BC for everything 💀💀💀
I got into both schools
I regret that so much
I got rejected by LSE so I am biased towards UCL
I got into UCL but I’m regretting not applying to LSE
Not for everything just Econ or quant subjects
And now I will probs not be in the U.S. for college anyways
I guess
I’m doing politics
Yea I didn’t realize that 😭😭😭
Yea atp I’m thinking I definetly would’ve gotten rejected from LSE
But that what if
Cause I wouldn’t liked LSE over SFS given the situation in the US
but I guess UCL will be fine even for politics 🙏🙏😭
UCL is a massive school tho, SFS will give u a much more personalized experience IMO
I visited UCL and while I love London the campus is really quite cramped
It doesn’t rly feel like there is much of a community at UCL
also if u want to WORK in the us id probably go for gtown but if u want to work in uk maybe ucl
It’s technically the flagship constituent college of the university of London
ngl after brexit i wouldnt touch the uk
if there was no brexit i would prob aim for LSE or st. andrews
I just realized georgetown biz school is going to the same conference as me tmrw
Thats p cool
If i get in tdy ill talk to them 🙏
I HAVE to stay in London two more years if I want permanent residency 😭
Otherwise I’ll lose it and my parents say letting go of a direct path to British citizenship isn’t worth going to the U.S. for college which kind of makes sense
So atleast I’ll graduate with a British passport….. technically if I get into GU and they let me defer my enrollment by two years then I can go to the U.S. 😀🫠
Any news on Georgetown’s release date? I assume it is NOT today at this point
why not today
They didn’t send an email before REA came out so it’s still likely today
They sent the email like half an hour after it came out
1.5 hours to go
Ah ok
Wait what time is it speculated to come out?
6pm EST. Or tomorrow. Or Friday. 🫤
Definitely not after Ivy Day which is Thursday
57 minutes to go
why 4pm specifically?
I wouldn’t say a separate portal is fighting tooth and nail
unfortunately i would give my everything to go to Georgetown
6 pm right? not 4.
cool
Office is p small
cause i have a feeling it doesnt
hopefully a bit earlier because georgetown would almost certainly be my top choice but little aid would make it inconsiderable
and i need some time to weigh options (if i do get in)
fingers crossed
Under exceptional circumstances do you think they’ll at-least consider allowing an admitted student to defer enrollment by two years
u needa serve in the military for korea or singapore?
No 😭 it’s cause I need to stay in the UK for two more years to get permanent residency
i think u can defer 1 year for sure idk abt 2
but they do let ppl do mandatory military service
I mean given the situation in the U.S. I feel like they’d be more sympathetic to an immigration argument
for 2
Oh I see
im not too sure but theres def a chance
Wait so apparently it came out at 4 two years ago?
And for UChicago too I think EA and EDs come out earlier in the day than RD
So even if EA came out later in the evening RD might be sooner for Georgetown
will
hi
ch does as well
if i get rejected i will crash out
For the REAs, did the applicants get any email notification (even if only a few minutes prior)
decisions were out at 6 and i got an email at 6:19pm
LOLOL
Same
I remember you from December!
We were all freaking out together
im econ major lol
💀
PLEASE GEORGETOWN DROP
even better
idk what happens in the US but in the greek financial circles there are quite a few gu graduates
No but one of us did ED2 to UChicago and got in, don’t remeber his username
oh thats sick
not out
istg no rejection for ea is actually toxic asf
ikr
like at least reject some people
youd think itd make their lives easier to do that
so that the deferred know that they have some chance and rejected can work on other stuff
and now im just crashing out constantly since december
ok but williams hella good for finance
yeah prob
And are we sure sure that it’s today cause I feel like they’ve done Wednesday the last few years
How many hours is that in
my parents only let me go williams cuz same price as washu
2
lol
williams said no to me
aka free
no clue im just following what other people are saying
but i do admit the one person i know that goes to williams is literally paid to go to williams
like he gets a stipend
Same lol it’s probably true
which is rlly cool
that is insane
apparently at the GAAP weekend they said they were trying to release it Tuesday night
I wasn’t there obv cause I got deferred
yea my coa is like $0 but they give hella grant money for like idek other expenses
js 1k a year in flights and 1.6k for whatever expenses
💀
idek what im gonna spend that on
lmao
I NEEDDD NEEED
NEEED
DROP RN..
can they pay for lie-flat transatlantic seats 🥺
holy shit
I'm a CS major
real asf
so predicted is a few minutes before 6
maybe
I hope being close to Georgetown helps
doubt it though lmao

long ass 1.5 hrs
fr
oh
ok
fair
And someone said they were touring a few days ago and got told that it’s today
real shit
help lmfao
me on cc every 2 mins
Hoya saxa 💙🩶
I hope you all get in see yall on the hilltop!!
Those sons of bitches lied
where do u get to that part
It would be so messed up if OP is lying LOL
Well someone’s lying
Why would they play with people’s emotions like that 💀
I have stats and calc tests tmr back to back
It’s not funny
I swear on god they said Tuesday at gaap
Ok then honestly it’s probably today
ik they wanted to do it today
i asked smo who works there
but like if they cant for reason then ig theyre not
bruh
I know when EA came out we had given up hope
Imagine if the office is tired of people calling and have started lying
lol
highkey i would do this as an AO
"yeah no its gonna be on april 1 trust"
Me too
It’s defo gonna be before lol
They always release before ivies right
sometimes its after tho
Really 😭
its just whenever they feel liek it tbh
we can wait one more hr and see
theres no set date
i think this week is a pretty safe bet
GU is so entitled
its def this week tho
And we still love it
Bro they lied at the admissions day 💀
lmao gg
probs thought theyd be able to finish and then couldnt
maybe tomorrow
I’m not referring to this specifically, I’m just saying it’s distasteful to force
students to be almost emotionally attached to a college winicj inherently owes nothing to a student
Whicu is why you see all these meltdowns online when they get rejected
