At the same time Georgetown EA is probably much harder than RD. If 10 percent of people get accepted and the rest go on to have like the same acceptance rate as the RD pool after being deferred, then the EA pool is actually way better.

not really. there's a good conversion of EA deferral to RD acceptance but idk if there's any stats available online on it. in theory an EA acceptance is said to be 'superior' in the sense that they are said to be competitive enough to get accepted even in the RD round where they will be more applications

haven't actually been able to notice what they mean by that other than institutional priorities because some of my close friends' applications were also deferred but they got into amazing schools in the early and regular rounds as well

As a current student it warms my heart that you like Georgetown so much. However I caution anyone getting into the college admissions process to have the concept of a ‘dream college’ given how random results are and how setting expectations for yourself are just a really bad thing in general for something that is often not in your control

So while you might not make much if my advice and idt you need to either, you probably won’t find this to be very fun in a few years

I’m glad people are saying this because there’s a growing sentiment in Georgetown that fewer and fewer people are actually getting into foreign service

Obviously I can’t speak aboit this with much authority as a freshman but I do think the attraction towards foreign service has somewhat decreased from my anecdotal experience

No doubt that you won’t find many colleges that offer as fine of an education in IR and foreign policy than Georgetown tho!
