You don't need to have a concrete answer, but you should be able to ask good focused questions to the interviewer about how life and academics are at rice. Basically, if you are premed, you don't need to know everything on earth about how rice's premed support is, but you should ask your interviewer about it and you should at least know that Rice does not have a medical school.

Interviewers are instructed to treat the interview as a conversation. However, the report the interviewer fills out for the adcom prompts the interviewer to write about the student's academics and extra cirricular activities. These topics usually naturally come about in conversation relevant to the student, their journey, and why they want to come to Rice. However, if the conversation somehow never gets to the relevant topics, then the interviewer will likely prompt you to talk about them more directly, which can be interpreted as grilling by some students.

All you need to know is that yes, it is supposed to be a conversation, but it should be a conversation about you, your motivations, what you have done, and why those things have led you to apply to and want to go to Rice specifically.

The most important part of the interview report is likely on the student's interest and knowledge about Rice. You should have a pretty good idea of why you would want to go to Rice, and have questions for your interviewer about how Rice can help you get to your goals. You do not have to be an expert on all things Rice, but you should know the bare minimum - Rice has residential colleges, does not have a medical school, and is in Houston right next to the Medical Center, for example if you are a premed.

Interviewers do not have access to your application. They get your high school, your name, and contact information. That can be a good thing and a bad thing. There is no prejudice from the application this way, but it also means that you have to be proactive about mentioning things you want in the report to the interviewer.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Many people get in with and without interviews, and if you can't get an interview now then there's nothing you can do about it anyways. Besides, the high variance in the interviewer means that I doubt that adcom really takes the interview report that seriously other than the bit about "why rice". You could get anyone from a current student who really shouldn't be interviewing anyone, current student who is great at interviewing, an old professor alum, or a fresh alum.
