Update #4 January 15, 2025, 5pm Central: UT is releasing their big admissions batch for the cycle. I estimated that around 1% of acceptances had been released before January 15, so most everyone should hear back this evening. One significant difference already is that UT is deferring many applicants, including top 6%, to February 15, presumably when they’ve reviewed all December 1 applicants. I know nothing about deferrals or how many applicants might be admitted later. It doesn’t seem like anyone has been outright denied or received CAP yet. For the moment, it seems a significantly higher ratio of applicants were deferred rather than admitted. It could also be that UT didn’t have enough time to read and review all of the applications by their stated deadline, given that they received 90,000 applications this cycle, up from around 72,000. This has definitely happened in the past. Since some December 1 applicants have gained admission, I’m inclined to think they ran out of time to review. In any case, no action can be taken for deferred applicants.
