#University of Michigan (UMich) (2024-2025)

arent uj a columbia ed
it was similar to this rate
no
rigor: youre taking undergrad level classes thats generally standardized
looks like they accidentally rejected me guys
My bf got waitlisted
schools arent teaching magic classes that magically make you learn more
true
Who likes Michigan anyways
how is the mich rd a2c acceptance rate lower than caltech and yale a2c acceptance rate
ranking / prestige: now this one really depends a lot
rejected omg 😭 was not expecting that
in my country at least michigan is a lot more well known than northwestern
i got usc tho so idec
WHO WAS WAITLISTED TOSS
waitlist 🙏 UCLA '29 ig
on god?
ROSS
peak
and within the states the difference is frankly tiny
rejected
i feel like northwestern has outsized prestige even for its ranking
Waitlisted :((
WHO WAS WAITLISTED ROSS
#memes #memeclip #switch
where i am
I think generally public unis are gonna be more well known than private ones
i donit believe any acceptances til i see a letter 😭
I mean Penn state is more well known than UPenn
ill answer in the perspective of an international student given your status, size of the alumni network matters just as much as well
and penn state lets any international student in
ok yea i just realized im definitely biased
Yeah
umichigan is a fake uni
umich 0% acceptnce rate is INSANE
EA 😭
with all rejections
You were EA
I swear everyone got waitlisted
Gg
the whole campus is a facade
is the waitlist the same for all applicants or different depending on the specific college like LSA
the and YOU is sending me
i know im trolling
yeah if im being honest i have always known umich > nu but maybe that sentiment is different in other areas
ea 💔
yale for cs?
got in and didn’t write a loci 😭
Check pins
eecs yeah
TY
too bad i’m just lazy and didn’t do EA for any schools
same lol
bro did deadass 0 ppl get in 😭
EVERONE DID
CMU ahh waitlist 💔
umich only accepted the ivy ppl for RD 💀
Ayy same
damn
EVERYONE GOT WAITLISTED FROM ROSS??
ill give another point that people usually overlook, sports
Bro fifth waitlist istg
Did everyone get waitlisted or something
couple a harvard and michigan people
Congrats to anyone that got in!
And it's alright to anyone that got rejected! Have hope for your future!
Waitlisted
Poll
YES I GOT WAITLSITED I HAVENT SEEN A ACCEPTENCE
Me no care
wait rlly?? even over harvard 😭
Rip bro
fuck umich bro
first they destroy my bracket now they destroy my application
when you walk up to an alumni and want to bring up a conversation, you need some form of conversation starter
michigan is a sports powerhouse
were u ea or rd
I got waitlisted everywhere, bruh I’m just not good enough
UCSD > umich anyways bruh
i love california
firstly all the alumni knows about sports, you can walk up to any alumni and just start talking about football
Wait the pinned msg is waitlisted overall but is Ross the same or no
easy connection here
Does Ross have a different waitlist date
No but the point is literally nobody got in
Rate
imagine seeing snow more than the sun
Help
Ea
The only waitlist I have hope on is UCSD praying that they take me in 🙏🙏
and given the sports success michigan has an insane alumni culture, when i told people that im going to michigan i had multiple older alumnis take me out to food and give me advice
i shoulda eaed that seems like the only way to get in
thank u for rejecting ur spot bro
i had a job interview where the interviewer turned out to be a michigan alum
i rlly appreciate it
ppl lyin aint nobody got into umich 😭
This, the alumni alone is insane
Here’s our Yale RD data for comparison
Mich came thru, im in 🙏🙏🙏
This applied to northwestern too
you've got this man
we just talked about football for a few min and it really helped bring us together
yup
and i ended up getting an offer 😉
BAHAHAHAHA WTF
Thanks bud :)
northwestern sports is hot trash lol
im declining my offer for all yall on the waitlist 🙏
thank you
my friend went there and his dad is a michigan alum so hes a michigan fan
Waitlisted.
he said northwestern sports is dead
soldier
harder to get waitlisted than accepted
guys all of u deserve better than being a michigan wolverine they're not allat trust
maybe cuz umich is a public school and theres not a lot of people from michigan in this server
Any Ross people here?
bro
New Ross people I mean
5
at least I got 4% aero at cal poly
I got 6
Lmao same man which colleges for you?
Erm
cope
2 other ppl got into mich in my school and it wasnt their top choice either
the acceptance rate on the surveys usually ticks up after a while, it was something like this for EA too
thats 3 ppl on the wl
6 pathalogical liars
Hopefully people who got in deny acceptance
they censored me for saying cmu
Like their yield can’t be that good
nice, ik a few people there in cs theyre doing well
their yield is like 46% i think?
Ye I wanted to know specifically for ross
That’s like bad right
Same
why would there be an only ross poll
ones going to meta ones going to citadel
yeah i was really happy when i got mich cs too 😢 really would have gone here if not for yale
I wasn't polling
nah im talking about alumni culture lol
Diff admissions
not rlly
I was asking
oh ok
My point is if there’s only 6 overall there are probably not many if any for Ross
for such a big school its not that bad of a yield
and can u make it super veinyyy
Omg 😭😭😭
Oh ic
thanks😭
thats fair i cant say much about them
where can i see the poll?
they account for yield in admissions
Pinned
Pins
#1268245061699637328 message
man thank god i applied EA 😭
fr
So if their yield is ~50% and their class size is 2000, they will admit 4000
😭 ru gonna go?
Bro same what is this massacre 😭
same lol
i lowk got rejected to all my RDs
Wait so what do we think about this waitlist
Is it as bad as CMU or no
i would stay on it
i know ppl who got off waitlist
I applied EA and then got deferred
i got in
huh
congrats!!!!!
Pharm Sci did not have ea 😔
i know a few people who got off waitlist last year and two years ago
no, too expensive. UMIch is good but not for 56k a year
like last year i know some ppl who got off waitlist
certainly dont count on it
decline offer please lmfaoo
anyways i think ucsd '29 might be my future
i am NOT getting into stanny and probably not duke either
don't count on it but i would stay and write a loci
where do u plan on attending? UIUC?
thank u i lowk had no hope cuz i didnt ea
yea i got you
what are you looking to study
18k waitlist were done for
you deserve it!!! are you going to commit?
im going to today actuallly. My final decision has been made
mechanical engineering
hey at least they take around 1k
ucsd is p nice for mech
damn howd you guess?
u might be the goat icl
BU is 20k waitlist and they take 34 lol
yea ik my cousin is there rn
hes graduating this june
ucsd is in a nice place too
remember you said you were a cs major
look back a couple years later
i know
i'd be happy to go there
youll find out that the margin of difference between most universities are pretty small
it's just
damn i thought your username sounded familiar
a lot smaller than the individual differences between students at a school
damn i applied to over 10 t20s and didnt get into a single one
same
so did i, sometimes that is life
yea that makes sense
Wait so where are you right now?
michigan
there are 20k valedictorians from the states every year
the ivies combined take less than that
whats really pmo is my irl friends got into like harvard and princeton and such
which ofc i'm really happy for them but
idk
depends on financial aid i alr got 80k from case sooo
have a friend who got rejected from UCD, UCSD, UCI, UCB, UCLA and got into Cornell yesterday 😭
me too ‼️
if you got into harvard, great you are an incredible student with incredible achievements
Do you think most t20 universities give more or less the same outcomes?
ah
can’t tell if i got waitlisted cuz everybody got waitlisted or cuz they actually think my application was good 😭😭
that doesnt imply that if you dont get into harvard, you dont have incredible achievements
Yes
in my industry which is software, yes
holy hell
you could always try and negotiate but umich is not usually good at matching other aid offers
bro isnt this servers sample size already the better half of applicants? and still sub 10 acceptance rate
in most other industries, yes too
duke 🙏
like literally statistically for the most part yes
Had a 35% in EA so I think they just didn’t rly do rd this yr
does waitlist prioritize in state or is it equal for oos chances
think about it this way
the schools select people that they think will be successful in the future
these students then go on to be successful
well it is RD and they probably prioritize instate students for RD
now from an outsiders perspective
and take more of their class through EA
Like For me I’m trying to decide between umd and umich rn, 30k total diff, would you say outcomes are too similar to justify the extra 30k?
they see that graduates from a specific university all go do incredible things
no way thats true because everyone i know got deffered
and think that its the school thats the common denominator
i had ivy league friends who got deferred
Look at the pins im talking about A2C ar
no, its the fact that these students are all talented and would succeed without the school
what are you looking to study
i know you didnt mean it but the implication of this statement for people who didnt get in is kinda funny
or maybe they just had more people commit early so they didn't accept as many people
are waitlist decisions rolling
Yeah
at least its not 0.5%
p -> q does not imply q -> p
fair
fall 2021 and fall 2022 😭
i know what happened in 2021
wtf happened in 2022
Cs for both
something tells me its gonna be going below 5% this year
yeah lol
this for umich 😭
yeah
will you go into debt for mich
I got waitlisted
we’re cooked y’all lmfao
5% 💀
i started playing mr brightside for nothing
I’m not sure, I don’t have the money saved up rn but depends on how internships go, but most likely yes for a bit
nah since they didnt accept as many RD they might need to dip into wl
Make mich an Ivy League alr
i think they overaccepted EA
Its not in the northeast.
heres what id say, it depends a lot from people to people
my idea too
Oh 100%
But still rd shouldn’t have been this cooked tho
what youre bsically saying over here is that you want to take a risk of 120k in loans
Anyone know the RD acceptance rate?
to see if you can land a substantially better offer post grad
to justify that cost
It’s not a private either, I wa sayibg cz the acceptance is so goddamn low
It’s actually like a 5% rd acceptence rate
LMFAO real
Last year waitlist was 5.18% but usually it’s been lower then 1%
no way
Sigh
i think this year was so fucking competitive that ppl who would usually have committed to an ivy committed to umich
I’m just guessing based of everyone’s decisions so far
No 30k total difference since id only be paying one year for each
for some people this is true, there are jobs out there that pay 500k to new grads
I was talkings strictly RD
why one year
Wha what jobs
I need this job
lemme do some math
my parents agreed to cover the other 3 years regardless of whether it's mich or umd
proprietary trading firms / hedge funds
The kinda job ryans tryna get 💀
oh yeah do mich then lol
i made 35k from my last internship
do they release stats
do i send michigan my love letter
IMO def under 10
i think acceptance rate is from 7-13%
i was talking to someone who said the same, firstly congrats that's incredible, do a lot of cs students at mich do that?
so 10% MoE 3%
goddamn
Ur can’t account for ea over acceptance so id lean towards lower end
how are we sure of EA overacceptance tho
DAMN where tf did u intern
do we have the stats for that
you can search up how much companies pay here
tesla, i worked for 20 weeks tho
We will soon probably
Damnn that’s fire
how did u get internships, just networking?
so its certainly longer than a normal 12 week internship
i applied online and passed the interview
What school do u go to
Oh yea right
so you think overall opportunities like jobs/internships at mich > umd enough to justify the extra 30k?
So do I repeal my rejection or
does mich accept loci
EA acceptance was definitely high cus every single peson who applied EA from my school got in
thinkin about that too
i did one when i got deferred but def has a word limit
is it like 1% of students getting these good internships at mich or is it actually something a good amount do?
if youre just looking to go for big tech companies / unicorns you can go for either
1%
well
heres how id put it
anyone know are classes large at mich for like science classes
they don’t accept appeals
amazon pays 60$/hr for their interns this here
thats 29k for 12 weeks
obviously you gotta account for tax
wait so only 1% of students get those kinds of opportunities though? or did i misunderstand
for amazon / other tech companies a sizeable amount do
for jobs that pay 500k, 1% lol
oh yeah for sure, but for like a 20-30k 12 week internship, because I figured if i was able to get one for even 2 years that'd be a significant amount of money I could use to put toward the last year
@untold yew
I GOT INTO UMICH FOR ECE NO WAY
congrats!
Fire
20k-30k certainly attainable
do you have previous programming experience?
oh nice
i moved back to us for hs tho
yeah I know some python/java and a bit less web
heres what id say
but i only started 2 years ago
i dont think that the outcomes will differ that much between the two schools except at the tippy top
however i also dont think 30k is a large enough difference that reaches "pick the cheaper school" category
i think you should pick the school that you think you would enjoy more
and look at incoming credit transfer too
rejected ross
this is cmu level waitlisting
Yay! Got in
yea i did calc 1 and 2 at a local community college and some programming classes, but unfortunately I don't think umd accepts that
is there anychance waitlist 😭😭
you can check if michigan accepts it here
imma open mine in a min
like 5%
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions reviews applications for the College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA) and the College of Engineering (COE). If you are interested in another school or college, it is best to contact their admissions team to learn more about transferring.
its luck
look into AP too
ty
did anyone here get rejected? does it also say for you guys transfer after 2 years or whatever?
it says "expired" for calc 2, does that mean it wont transfer?
DAM. THIS IS EMBARASING
it means you need to submit it again
yeah
it’s cause ross
ok
It’s better than other school with like 0.1% acceptance rates off of waitlist
i’m waitlisted from 5 schools seems like they vary from 1% to 20% depending on year
do you have to pay to accept a spot on the waitlist
same
Waitlisted, not accepting it
wdym? like ask my community college to submit it or me personally
yeah something like that
no
my personal take is that for recruiting, starting early and coming in with the right mindset matters most
did anyone get in ross
and i think umd is good enough at least for all the tech companies
just put the waitlist in the bag
who got waitlisted!!
thank you
agreed, just trying to see if mich is worth the extra 30k. For me it feels really close one way or another
anecdotally are people that look for internships/jobs at mich finding them? In your experience
I’ve declined or taken myself off of all of my waitlists lol
did u get in umich cs?
50%+
Yeah
There’s just no point when I don’t want to go to the waitlist schools
i rlly appreciate it for a wl warrisr like my self
Yes
ytes
congrats, are u tryna decide between umich and und
Yeah lol. Total difference in cost between both would be 30k.
(admitted to cs for umd too)
did everyone who EA just get waitlisted and rds got rejected
nah just fill out the form and submit a LOCI to the admissions office
or accepted obvi
another loci??
i applied RD and got waitlisted
Oh yeaj thats tuff, extra 120k
ok interesting
yeah
the people that care
do just fine
officially time to leave this thread.. adios 🫡
Did anyone get into umich nursing?
the waitlist info section says they don't accept any extra material
nah extra 30k total since i'd only be paying one year no matter where I go
and how many people were admitted last year?
id choose umich tbh amazing social life, good placements
i heard around 115k
good to hear. Actually, for the tuition increases, the umich website listed 85k as the increase, is that roughly the same for engineering if you know?
definitely leaning towards it but I do like umd too
if i get into umd today idgaf about these waitlists
someone in chat here said it a while ago
holy 2007 birthspike
4 years of college?
oh u got aid?
umich is $300k OOS for 4 years no aid
last year was 105 so i wouldnt be suprised
my parents agreed to pay for 3 years regardless of where I go so it'd be either 50k for umd (got merit scholarship) or 85k for mich
Ohhh
michigan does offer an engineering scholarship that they said they'd give out by mid april but i dont think i got it
20k
alright so about 15-20%
so if about 15k people got accepted last year this year the rates gotta be 13%
what is this chance
5%
Is wl at Ross harder than other schools?
accepted after being deferred! will be commiting to yale
I will! I'm pressing decline to all other schools on tuesday (my lucky day)
if youre a lower division prolly yeah
the coa number should be the most accurate that you can find
The tuition increase is a lot more for COE
Go check out the tuition registrar for such
plz I wanna get off wl 😭
I'm seeing a ~$4,000 diff in tuition between lower and upper for coe, does that seem about right? for the 2024-2025 year
if I do get off wl I'll try my best to convince my parents that the 25k price difference with uiuc is worth for matsci
bc umich salaries are like 17k higher
but then its prob higher for instate and lwoer OOS
if u were talkign abt wl --> acceptnace
That's per semester
But yes
And that's for OOS
It was the letter.
oh yeah you're right, so ~80k to ~88k, pretty steep. Do they also increase their price yearly?
Unfortunately yes
Colleges with fixed tuition are rare usually
UIUC and Purdue are good examples of this
so for my year I'd be paying over 90k, that'd make the difference between umd and umich about $40k
at that point idk if michigan would be worth it
Which isn't really worth it unless you can comfortably afford it
What major are most waitlists
No one knows
That doesn't work
(Kidding)
100% worth it
since im cs if everything works out I think I'll be able to pay if off fairly quickly, would it be worthwhile in that case?
Do you really wanna gamble on that?
Wait so who else here got accepted
its a 30k difference, which i think is on the smaller end
You might go through a crisis
A major risk which I don't think is worth it
if its like 320k then you know, thats an insane gamble
I definitely see what you're saying, it's a very hard decision
UMD is still an excellent school
40k with tuition increases/upper division I didnt factor that in
Oh would UMD give more roi long term? If so I'd just go there
No that's not how it works
ROI factors in the debt you get from college and other factors
Most great CS colleges are going to have similar cs salary ranges, no matter where. There will, of course, be outliers, but expect to see your peers in your jobs to go from great CS colleges all over
It's why I say it's a wiser choice to just go to UMD as it's a far more affordable choice and your career will still be quite valued
Ultimately it's up to the individual and the decisions they make for their finances, but it is unwise to put yourself in that much debt and gamble into thinking you'd be able to pay it off easily. You can't predict the future. You don't know the decisions that can come
So why not just go to a cheaper college that won't put you in as much of a worry?
yeah for career wise other than the extreme outliers, umd and michigan will be roughly the same
but instead of thinking in terms of ROI, given that youll most likely do fine in the future
Alr chat 12 th rejection
you can frame it in terms of "are you willing to spend the 30k extra to go to a place that youd enjoy more"
and tahts up for you to decide
This, ultimately if you have the money to spend, then I don't see the issue. Go for it. But it's clear that finances are still an issue to you, and why sometimes you have to make sacrifices
is it worth sending them a loci for wl
If they allow it sure
it says they wont accept additionl documents on the faq page but im not sure if that extends to loci or not
im scared to send one and then they flame me
yeah i just saw that was kinda wondering abt the same
Appreciate the advice from both of you, it seems like because the salaries are similar for both umd and michigan, umd would make sense from a value perspective although I think I would've preferred michigan as a school.
and yeah @ripe temple you are right that finances are still an issue in the sense that it would be worrying to take on additional debt, I think if there was a tangible benefit to doing so I wouldn't have minded so much but given that the outcomes are essentially the same from what I'm gathering it'd be taking on extra debt for no reason
I instinctively thought the extra cost/rank for michigan would mean the jobs would make up for it in the end but logically I don't think that's necessarily true
Well eh it depends
holy shit i got waitlisted
The Michigan alumni has helped me tremendously, moreso that I felt it does better than if I went to some other school
michigan helps me significantly id say
And certain jobs, like quant, are only accessible to a few colleges which Michigan is usually a part of
there are a small number of companies that exclusively hire from certain universities
But for most cs jobs, you'll roughly be fine with either
yeah i think michigan is the only public school that five rings hire from
but even then thats for such a tiny minority of people that its almost negligible
and those people usually come into college with significant previous experience
so its barely even a comparison
us 😭
is UW waterloo or washington
my coworker last fall was a wisconsin grad
woah
its a nice school
ppl actually call waterloo uw?
im surprised asw
isn't it udub
washington is udub
waterloo idk
ohh ur at waterloo
idk what it's called 😭
wisconsin bro
ik this is anecdotal and not necessarily something you might know but do you think the portion of people getting "good", like 20-30k internships at umd significantly lower than the amount at michigan?
uwm/uw-m right?
yea
if you can land a good job at michigan you can land a good job at umd
do you have any advice for how to land good jobs and internships for either? in the swe area
Thanks
is umich WL luck
it says it's not ranked so im guessing its just luck of the draw
some sites say it's possible to hear back only a couple days after may 1
waitlisted (honestly its fine)
were cs deferral decisions supposed to come out?
or is it separate from rd, cause my selection status hasn't changed yet
separate from rd from what they said in my letter
Your decision for advance selection into a computer science major will be posted on Enrollment Connect within 10 days, at which time we will send you an email notification.
If I got into Ross can I double major or something with CS?
for cs specifically, you can if you get into cs
do u hear back if u get rejected too
does someone have the pic of stats of who got in
I know someone sent it earlier
i'd hope so but not sure
You mean the poll? #1268245061699637328 message
no there was a pic of people saying which gpas got in like what %
Like 3.1-3.4 0% etc
here
Yo anyone going to Ross or engineering I’m looking for a roommate
ive experienced as cold as -20 deg celcius
Woah
DAMN
i dont think its really that bad given a coat
this was alot more competitive than i thought
like -20 i would just avoid going out
i mean duh its umich but
-15 or above is fine with coat + beanie + scarf
-5 above is fine with coat
5 is just normal clothing + light jacket
when does stanford release
Is it like hella dry winter
How many ppl get off waitlist for Ross?
idk the exact number but i know that it's less than coe and college of lsa unforch
Have any engineering admits heard back from ross preferred admission yet
It’s been like 4 months now
hows the wl for umich
weird
im internaitonal
so am I
rlly
type shi
im from canada
im from India
ohh

waitlist
welcome
welcome
same
if anyone wants the umich class of 2029 server invite, dm me
Does any previously admitted EA student have the prompts for the Honors essays this year? I just got in RD and they won’t be out for 24-48 hours and I want a head start lol
#1268245061699637328 message
Thanks!!
i got rejected from. there but didnt get into cornell
That’s a wack essay
~20% are waitlisted, ~5% are accepted off waitlist
I think it said 1k/24k got off the waitlist last yr
Holy cow 24k waitlisted
lwk this year might have been more
I can’t send any additional info right?
Just press the button and call it a day?
I’m highkey just blind and can’t read disregard my question
that makes you domestic not international
if anyone here got in and wants to learn more about michigan, feel free to reach out!
Is it easy to make friends there? I am oos and no one else from my high school goes there.
its a school with 40000 people so yeah
i think 5 ppl committed to michigan from my school during my year
i dont really hang out with them and can still find a friend group
its the same golden rule for making friends: be nice and give everyone a chance
Are most engineering first year students living on north campus ?
Which dorms/residential hall would you recommend?
historically dorms are randomly assigned
so you can be a buysiness major and live on north campus (the classes are on central)
for me all my classes were on north but i lived on central
this year i heard that theyre allowing people to select their own dorms
certainly not that if youre in engineering you must live on north, i personally LOVED living on central
Say if I can to choose Alice or north quad, what are my chances ? Is that based on lottery or first come first serve ?
my guess on what would happen is that they would give everyone a time slot where they can select dorms
and then you can choose from the available rooms
this is how it works for returning students right now
as for what are your chances, i dont know, this is a new system
What are the chances for freshmen to get singles ?
most of the rooms are doubles i think
i know a few people with singles at north quad / stockwell / couzens / baits
Do you recommend finding your own roommate or getting assigned one ?
id recommend finding your own roommate
for both theres a chance that your roommate is great or horrible
but if you know who your roommate is beforehand youll likely be somewhat compatible
the chance of having a bad roommate is just much lower this way
Thanks! In terms of class registration for engineering classes. Do you find it is hard to get into certain classes ?
what major are you looking into
ME or CE
me should be fine
cs upper levels are considered hard to get in however it should be getting better with advanced selection
What are the average class size for lower and upper engineering classes ?
i dont think how many peopel taking the class is really great in evaluating how a class feels
here classes are usually split into lecture, lab and discussion
you might have several hundreds of people in a course
the lecture might have 100 people in it
but lab is usually like 20-30 people so it can still feel small
also in engineering a lot of courses have lecture recordings so people dont even go to lecture lol
ayone from ross here?
Not a current student, but Ross is my top choice right now
can someone pls add me to the mich2029 server
also do u know the difficulty of adding a cs major in addition to a baseline EE/CE major
maybe if early action preferred admission ross can come out 💔
2 months late
dm’d
Could you add me as well pls?
these are majors that have some overlap
you’re not allowed to double major in ce and cs
ee and cs depends on the courses you take
but it would be a decent bit of extra credits
oh ok tysm
this is what i'm considering
here’s my personal take on double majoring
why do you want it do a double major
i'm intersted in both hardware and software
what type of hardware
and i wanna start something in the future that allows me to combine both
i'm thinking comp arch or PICs
gotcha
i’ll recommend you to just do ce then
since that should cover both of the fields you’re interested in
my take for double majoring in ee / cs is that
a college major is usually designed to be broad, and take you through different sub fields
for example for cs you have to do some theory courses as well as systems
for ee there’s computer architecture, but you also have to learn about signal processing, power, magnetism etc
oh ok, appreciate it
although i've heard that ce is too shallow of a major
you only have this much time at school
so why bother spending the extra time going through irrelevant parts of a degree that you’re not interested in?
the courses you do matter much more than the degree you receive
instead of going broad and spreading yourself too thin, you already know your specialization, why not spend that time going deep in the select sub fields you’re interested in
tysm, that sounds like a great path for me
you can alternatively do cs + ee minor, ee + cs minor too as an example
or even just taking ee classes outside of your degree
a big trap people fall into is thinking that all the courses they take should be part of a degree they get
so they’d want to take 3 extra classes, then notice they’re one class away from a minor, then 2 from another
and all they end up with is a bunch of pointless classes they’re not interested in
you can always just take classes for the sake of it
Does anyone know how to view our FinAid?
i don't know if they've been released for rd yet, but for me they sent me an email when it released (I got in earlyaction)
otherwise it's found on:
wolverine access -> new and prospective student business -> new&prospective student center -> view award notices -> 2026 -> view/print
michigan be affordable for anyone but the bottom 10% and top 10% challenge: impossible 😞
why did mechanic leave
Is anyone doing dual degrees between engineering and Ross
too dumb to do that 😔
i would need an extra 50 iq to do that
what do you want to know about
I got into Ross but didn’t apply engineering, how hard (and practical) is it to do a dual degree
how hard? to start a dual degree shouldn’t be too hard, there’s not really any rule that stops you
to complete one is very hard
since you have to do ross distribution requirements, ross courses, engineering core courses, and your engineering major course
sometimes double majors can be easier since there’s a lot of overlap between majors, this is not really the case for engineering and ross
you’re probably looking at 5-7 years for courses alone depending on what major combo
how practical?
i think instead of going for breadth you’re better off choosing one thing to specialize
it depends on your incoming credit too
be a master in one thing and have some knowledge in other fields is probably the best spot you can be in
think a T
do you know how easy it would be to transfer from engineering to the architecture college and would they let me do that immediately?
i think internal transfer in general is pretty chill
usually requires you to be in school for a semester / year before you can transfer though
oh ok thats good to know
yeah lmk if you got more questions
does UMich want LOCI's with their waitlisted applicants?
even I want to know that. somehow I can't see any place to submit LOCI
Ive watched like 80 TikTok’s trying to figure it out and it seems like formal letters aren’t accepted but an informal email to your regional ao is okay
Im still scared to send an email so someone send theirs first 😭🙏
😭😭😭☝🏻 I'll see if I send one
Who’s my regional AO 😂, I’m intl.
same, maybe Google? 😭
won't that be weird tho
ahhh idk
Idk, I’m UK so it might be an AO by region
We will not accept any additional documents from you unless specifically requested, as they will not impact your final decision.
Ahh i see that
idk
😞☝🏻
Are ppl able to access the LSA honors application
It says I’m not authorized with the friend account
Idk man
As long as you are accepted you shouldn’t have a problem. There are instructions on how to make it on their website. This may help you:
https://its.umich.edu/accounts-access/computing-accounts/friend-accounts
A Friend account is basically a U-M guest computing account. It allows someone who does not have a U-M uniqname and UMICH password to authenticate to the U-M computing environment—to log in to the environment and be identified. It does not, however, automatically authorize that person to use any services. There are two steps in the process tha...

Is there anywhere I can send a LoCI if I'm on the waitlist?
Of course! I dmed you!
Did you send your 1st loci which was optional in RD applications?
I sent an ECI after EA deferral
MechE
only 1 LOCI is taken and that was after deferral
they said they don't accept em for waitlist and use initial review materials to make a decision
okay
okay
do you have a source for this
also in that case all i can do is pray 😭
It is mentioned in their "Waitlisted Applicants FAQ - Undergraduate Admissions" portal.
alr noted
do you think i could mail a loci to my regional ao ☠️
You can, as there is an option to do, but I don't think it will be useful because they mentioned that they will not accept any documents now. Having said that you already submitted ECI, it is more than enough. Stay calm, All the best ❤️
Did Ross preferred admission come out yet
“Starting with the application period for fall 2025, U-M’s Common Application will include the Ross School as a first-year admitting unit, while continuing to allow preferred admissions through select schools and colleges as a way for applicants to indicate an interest in later transferring to the program.”
You will still be able to transfer in it seems, it is just now you don’t have to also apply to LSA if you would only go to Michigan for Ross.
This is better for students as it separates their application into business admissions more
I applied in November so I was just wondering when the decisions are released
They say on the site that for early action they roll out in early February but when I emailed them they said they will continue to roll them out through April. The website says RD Ross preferred admission is sent out by early mid April
Do you think I should email them again or just wait till next week
when does wl move for michigan
allegedly as soon as april 16th
Does umich not take loci??
“ decisions to admit from the waitlist will be based on the rating your application has already received.”
guys
how do i find my rating
😔😔
I wish they made them public
ty i will be camping my email asap
appearntly not
its prob bc they waitlisted 18k ppl
💀
me too im just waiting
they do but it's by appointment and i think it's only for attending students
it's a rating between 1-15
1 being the best
Guess I’ll see when I go
is it common for people to do Engineering/Ross dual degrees
Umich is always the school for low gpa but good writers ive heard
Considering theyre one of two T25’s to accept me with a 3.7 out of like 15 I applied to it makes sense
