2. the culture, I honestly hate how academically intense and competitive some schools are, and duke's so happy

Like last year I went on a college tour on the east coast and it was very clear how much happier duke students were compared to other schools

my friend goes to cmu and all i hear about is depressed people ong

And I love Yale but their mental health stuff is terrible

WashU (idkkk they have a design major but it's too artsy for me in a way and it's hard to create your own major)
Northwestern (have to create my own major, is it too preprofessional? Would I be depressed?)
Udub (I'm sorry I know too many people there but most notably there's this one guy I really really really want to avoid who goes there 😭)
Northeastern (I heard the academics aren't as good and there's an problem of it being overcrowded and I don't wanna graduate late from coops or double major + minor but I do love so much how there's so many study abroad opportunities)

Whereas the only con I have for Duke: I HATE PUBLIC BATHROOMS I WANT WASHU OR USC DORMS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Cornell: any person any study I love you so much, I can take figure skating lessons and other random classes from crazy departments that other colleges don't have
UNC: vibe is so similar to Duke, the weather is warm and the people are friendly I did the thing where I go abroad first thing and that would be so cool, there are so many opportunities cause it's a public uni
UMich: again vibe is so similar to Duke, their info school is top notch with my UX design concentration, the fat squirrels are to die for and again public school opportunities
Yale: Cog sci with my concentration so I get to study cog sci without a minor or anything, I heard the people are friendly and the residential colleges is great for a smaller and tight knit community and the architecture is to die for
WashU: Best school dorms, the people are more collaborative than friendly, I can take so many great design classes and the beyond boundaries program is amazing
Northwestern: such a huge variety of people!! Human centered is at the core of a lot of their classes and as a design major human centered is important, and the quarter system while stressful also means I get the opportunity to take so many more classes
Udub: gorgeous campus, great vibe. My major is top notch there, and again quarter system = more classes. It's close to home and has a lot of study abroad opps
Northeastern: so interdisciplinary!! Also I'm gonna study abroad a billion times if I go there, and I love how it's in Boston yet still kinda has its own campus. I mean I would prefer a more traditional campus but it's still really good

UToronto: such a big school that gives me so many opportunities, and it'll open up a lot of doors in Canada if I want to live there, plus the campus is so pretty
UniMelb: I get to take a gap semester and still be on track?!?! And I get to live in a huge city in Australia?!?! And there's a great dedicated major for me?!?! Sign me up

Pros: good major for me and everything is so modern, and it's in such a great part of NYC that's gorgeous and has great job placement, and the study abroad opportunities are ENDLESS
Cons: no campus, NYC is expensive as hell, also a girl there told me that the major isn't that good for job placement and I'll need to put in a lot of work cause it's kinda broad

Rice: in such a great city with warm weather yet it has its own campus!! Also it's known as the tree campus and I love trees. Similar vibe to Duke with friendliness and great residential college system, but Texas is kinda hot and also they don't have my major and it's hard to create your own major
