If 95% of admits are interviewed, which is before recruits, they are basically required. It is very rare to get in without. As with Oxford it IS actually to get in without an interview in some courses, even tho it is “de jure” required, therefore, Yales interviews are “de facto” required

Where does 95% of admits getting interviews come from?

They said on the Yale podcast that interviews are only given to students who they cannot make a final decision on yet. Most admits are probably interviewed since it gives them advantage but I’m not sure if 95% (or at least claiming it to be a de facto requirement) is accurate.
