i realise what i'm about to say may sound a little élite but like yale is a very special and unique place, it isn't just a place to get a decent college education (there are in fact many places where one can do that). a key part of that 'special and unique' thing is the residential college system, and any action taken to significantly harm it does necessitate a strong reaction from the student body and alumni
