I’m in EPICS, the benefit for me was taking ENGR133 instead of 131/132. I don’t get much out of EPICS itself though and will not be continuing it after this year.
I also don’t speak for everyone, and I’m sure there are people who genuinely do enjoy and get a lot out of it.

It really depends on what you are interested in. Don't apply to a lc solely cause of housing. The reason being is there will probably be overflow and you may not be guaranteed to live with the community. I am in EPICS but do not live in Shreve. I definitely think EPICS is more worth it from a FYE standpoint. Your main engineering class is in one semester compared to two. Definitely will be stressful for the first semester, but you are chilling for the second. Also, EPICS covers one of your gen-ed requirements, so you would have one less class to take down the line. I am in the AAEE team and I have had a lot of fun with it. Probably my favorite class of fye.
