I had a similar mentality when I was applying and deciding. I was trying to get warm weather but also a school that isn't completely in the middle of nowhere. The three schools I narrowed my choices to happened to all be in college towns and two of them were in the middle of nowhere and cold. When I ended up comitting to Purdue, I honestly thought the cold would suck and be brutal and depressing. Surprisingly, it was the complete opposite. Sure it can be brutal at times, but you will build your cold tolerance and I this is probably one of the first years in a long time where I have not had seasonal depression. The only depression I have rn is Purdue Basketball throwing the last three games. Also, it feels more majestic here when it snows compared to the northeast(where I am from). I also don't get cold as easily outside when I am at home
