#All UCs (2024-2025)
1 messages · Page 20 of 1
SAMEEEEEEEE
i didnt get this im cooked
why do UCs release their decisions so late
they send in waves
send what
too many applicants
ucla and ucsd are the two most applied to universities in the nation and since each application is reviewed twice by two different people you could imagine how long that would take
very late but
i applied
ucm - sociology
ucr - actuarial science (alt: econ)
ucsc - global and community health 💅
just rn
will i go to any???? probably not
just rn?
yeah
theyre just throwaway apps
its likely i either get in or yield protected
my stats are above majority of students for those who apply there
huh??? wait like I am confused
transfers have a different game than the freshman kids
Ohhh I see
they sent us an email if we'd like to apply and i decided to take a shot
all those three ucs are relatively easier to get into, u should be fine
or i get yield protected
probably what’ll happen
lol yeah
my stats are beyond anyone's for those majors
the only thing i wouldnt have is ecs related to them
except maybe like people who actually went out of their way for classes
i am pretty sociology coded in my class list
ucr actuary scene is kinda mid though
it just has prep material for the first three exams
ucla has a lot more
like why would i go to ucr if i get into ucla lol
ucla has stuff for p, fm , ifm, ltam, stam
& has stuff for all the vee credit anyway
ucr just has a bare bones actuarial science program rn compared to other ucs
usa usa
San Diego
I got ucla supps
It's amazing and if you didn't get supps then that means your application is currently on its way to the shredder
Your entire bloodline is also blacklisted from ever stepping foot on a UC campus now too
here’s my rankings for uc priorities rn
ucla > UCSD > cal/uci > UCR > ucsc > ucm
ucr over santa cruz?
😭
insane
you want the abg/abbs 🔥
o
Actually my drop off goes around the uci part
i would put ucsc higher if it weren’t for that fact
i mean for my career my personal ranking would be:
ucsb (6 exams, actuary program, cae recognised) > ucla (5 exams, actuary program, NOT CAE/UCAP recognise but has been there longer, basically meets cae requirements) > ucr (new actuary program, ucap certified), uc berkeley (questionable, has like 0 real actuary presence but has a great statistical program) > everything else lol
but honestly these are all kinda just like whatever and mostly in terms of environment
if you really were good id honestly just run up the usual statistical program rankings
1
since there’s no reason to be in those programs except for connections as always
but exams are valued a lot
would rather take a kid with asa from a random named college
idk i was wondering if someone knew
we dont know
if i get admitted to UCLA college of letter and science("The college") with a intended major of data theory, can i change my major later on?
Depends on the major from my understanding
for the college of letter and science they admit by school not by major if i am not wrong, so my guess would be it won't be that hard to change majors
into what
Like the only majors you would reasonably switch into is sds, applied maths, math + something, pure math
math + something includes but is not limited to math econ, math comp, math actuary
so if i put my intended major as data theory, ill be able to switch to math comp right?
UCSD was lowk my fav but that's pretty unpopular
you could, but have fun trying to get those classes
got it
generally the idea is that unless otherwise stated, assume you can't switch out
many exceptions to the idea though
ahh okay
the mathematics of computation baccalaureate programme at the ucla campus has different preparatory classes for the course compared to data theory. i find that it may still be possible to switch into the mathematics of computation programme. as parousia said, however, you want to assume that you will not be able to switch courses, especially at a university of california campus
ahh okay
i just got humbled from my rejections so changed my intended major from CS to data theory at UCLA
i find it to be good to research the programmes and their major requirements. you may find them here:
what made you switch? both courses have different outcomes and classes to develop your knowledge in
College of engineering vs l&s
yea ik but i don't have a problem making my career in data sci or applied maths
of course, but the mathematics of computation baccalaureate programme has different classes to take than computer science
CS acceptance rate 2 years ago was just 3.2%
whereas l&s college admit rate was around 15
thanks man
there are many differences between the two programmes
i wouldn't say they're one to one for that reason
mathematics of computation involves with having their programming classes in the computing department, whereas computer science has it in the... computer science department. computer science also has a mandatory logic design of digital systems class
these are just for major preparatory classes, by the way
i am not trying to find a substitue for CS
Yes but I think they’re thinking from an admissions pov
Cs is very very competitive
i was just checking if i can change my mind later on about my degree between data theory and maths comp
one more reason i don't want to do maths comp is its pretty much a maths degree with basic C++ programming (which i already know) so thats why went for data theory
How hard is it to change majors at UC schools?
Depends on the major
For cs at all UCs its gonna be easier to switch out of than into
im instate bro
ucs just salty to instate students too
every single school reserves a good amount of spots
next friday i think
i had almost identical W ranking
Cal should really be at the top
Objectively
Naur
For every other case other than mine
Depends what you want do
It should be at the top for my major
I have a very specific reason why it’s lower
Everyone is chuzz at the top 3 ucs
Bro it's insane how different ucsd and sdsu
are
I went to sdsu last night holy shit
the girls are SO FINE
Like I don’t know much about UCSD but it has one specific reason why it goes over cal
on the water
Good for you
excuses excuses
At least at ucla it’s laughably easy
Really?
Yeah
Like u just fill out some form and boom thats it
Well what are you thinking about switching between
Like if I was a certain business major could I switch to another business major
Yeah
At orientation you can literally just tell ur like advisor person you want to switch
And they’ll do it for you
If it’s past orientation then you can just send the department a message on the like my.ucla page
And they’ll usually do it for you, sometimes they’ll have a form
But usually you just send a message
Switching into engineering is a little more complicated but basically you need two quarters with a 3.5 with an engineering workload
Which is a math class and a science of engineering class
I see
what abt double majoring? same process?
I think there’s some rules about like officially declaring two majors cause they want to make sure you graduate in time.
But like I added poli sci to my biz Econ and all I had to do was send the department a message asking them to do it for me
There’s only one
Business Econ
What’s your major
I didn’t know you went to ucla too
Some people do just Econ or math Econ but yeah.
And biz Econ isn’t even business it’s just Econ + accounting 😂
Yeah I mean those aren’t really business degrees
Also true
I’m biz Econ and poli sci but probably not gonna declare poli sci
Ah I see
Are you in the consulting clubs
Tbd
Either molecular cellular developmental biology or human biology and society
Nope
we need a ?consulting
^
bro rage quit 💀
😭
MANGO NOOOO
poor mango
then again he still has march when all the uc decisions come out
so let’s give him some time
yeah
be fr id do the same
if i got 3 rejections in a row
oh
why did he get banned
he sent me this
😭
free my boi he aint do nun 🗣️
What
Oh that’s way more interesting
Not saying it’s guaranteed
But Lowkey it is
100% success rate in this sample size of 1
i mean the ucs are notoriously unpredictable 🤷
my PIQs were so bad
Nah everything here is cool asf
what were yours about if you don't mind asking
debate club, ssp, a nonprofit i worked at, and my hobby of making model homes
the way i write is just 🤢
for me
cooking
storytelling
living by myself with adhd/poor stress management bc of this
math
prompts 2, 3, 5 and 6
oh im sure you did fine
all you have to do was be direct about all your experiences and what you've learned from them like you're speaking directly to an ao in an interview room
adhd one is so real
praying i can get adderall once i live on my own bc my parents refuse to medicate me or my siblings
i usually mope around after school for like 3 hours and then i lock in
SAME 😭
but it takes forever bc i lay on my bed after watching one ap classroom video
same
i open my notebook but then i proceed to do other things after opening 😭
then some time passes and it's like 9-10 pm 😭
real
actually im a night owl so i lock in during night
same
the earliest i usually lock in is by sunset
otherwise everything i do is done at night
yoo i wrote mine about the beautiful eq in maths
what is that beautiful eq
the most beautiful eq in maths?
e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0
ah
Do your guys receive e-mails from ao
no?
Nah but at ucsd u can ask for admissions file
good to know, thanks
are ucs that much oos
: o
Yes
gyat dam
It's not 92k.
The amount you pay OOS will be around 70-75k.
i find that the university of california campuses tend to overestimate the cost a lot
Think it went up again
They’re doing like 5 or 10% increases every year
For ‘23 UC in state cost was 35-37k and for ‘24 it was like 42-45k
i’m not saying it is! i said that’s what the calc told me!
oh thank god
hi sigmas
today is the beginning of the final month i have before i learn about my fate
Berkeley cost for oos for 2029 will probably be around 80k
But that’s the coa, tuition and housing will be less
But still gotta take into account how expensive the bay is
we could perform a regression analysis in order to approximate out-of-state costs for individuals
@tropic minnow, how do you find the santa cruz campus? do you enjoy it?
I saw that OOS went up $3k ish but I don't think it will ever be 92k total that you pay to the university.
Wow what’s w the .
But yeah I googled and estimated costs oos for next yr is 80k
I can see it being that much in a few yrs
me otw! to go part time job hunting like it’s the hunger games
does anyone know how difficult ucsds health management sciences major is to get into
i put it as my 2nd choice
iirc that’s one of their affected majors
alongside compsci/engineering
and the deadline to change majors was yesterday 🤷
bright side at least this one isn’t competitive
oh 😭
are u sure ur giving me accurate information
actually it doesnt matter
i either get in or i dont
🔥
and bio
yes
look at the college it’s in and you can see if you can find info about the college’s acceptance rates
public health
I like it a lot, starting to really love it. It’s a very calming campus, and I know for some people it’s helped with their mental health, personally has for me I think. Academic wise I think the programs I’m in (politics and history) are solid, very much underrated imo. Socially, it depends on the person. I have a social life I’m happy with, could be more active but I don’t mind what it is right now. Lots of stuff to do if you do your research and are actively involved.
for me i had math (stats and probability) as my first major and developmental psychology as my second
the transfer rates for health are pretty high
ye ai got it from there
Don’t know how accurate that cite is
That’s really high
^
WAIT I APPLIED FOR IT 2nd major
ucsd’s general acceptance rate is around 25% for comparison
does that mean if i dont get into first major then i wont get that
here is a link from the ucsd website
Not necessarily
public health is one of them
yeah
i swear i thought biz econ was difficult
though when you pick a selective major as your first you’re recommended to pick an alt major
Oh it's not meant to be passive aggressive, it's just my texting style now.
i flipped common sense
💀
Oh interesting
if i have an alt major as selective i can still get in right
they have cats near the physics building
yippee
I think like 4 or 5 of the campuses have cats
You say this now but
Davis has cheeto which is like the most famous one I think
UCLA does!
?
There’s a few here
Yes thats one
UCD, UCLA, UCSC, UCB are the 4 I can think of
Depending on the major/college it’s not as easy as it seems or is elsewhere
well obv yea
UCSC also has dogs (owned not wild)
im just saying its a possibility
Yeah I thought I was going to double in bio and polisci
and wha happened
W
Unfortunate it could not happen
Bio requires 180 creds for the major which is the min you need to graduate, polisci is 80, and then there’s like 55 other creds I would have had to take for geneds
I had 75
to fulfill geneds
Unfortunately they don’t count
It’s ok I have some similar options for minors
AAAAAAAA
me with my 6 ap tests in may this year:
me with 7 😐
Yeah I had 6 and passed all of them w 4’s and 5’s
Did nothing for me
nice
jokes on you i have 7.01
The only thing I didn’t have to take is 1 writing class but I ahve to take a full yr anyways for med school
rip
What are you looking at now
jokes on you im at ur house
Truly but yeah my double major plans were quickly humbled esp if you plan to go to grad school
Society and genetics or disability studies minor
Oh interesting
Or applied developmental psychology
its ok im a business major
💀
Which isn’t similar but yeah
very diff from med school
Yeah they’re both very interdisciplinary
oh wait
stat major here 🤭
Also one of my close friends is a critical race theory major at ucsc
Yeah
better calculate a significance test now
Or whatever the major is called
It’s really long
Oh yeah I know a couple people that are with the program, also some with the hisc program, very interesting stuff, cool people also.
wow
Very awesome
UCs require an ethnic studies course now so I'll probably try to fit one of their courses in so I can see what they're up to, some of them look pretty interesting
what is the studies course like
As in what kinda courses are offered, what the program is about, or what are the classes like?
a combo of two questions
what is the program about and what are the classes like
About
there is a university in indiana literally called "ball university"
Ball state
69% acceptance
lmao a ton of kids at my school go there every year
you're from indiana?
😭
i love indiana
yuh
where i live like half the seniors at my high school if not more end up at a&m
texas?
yea same i dont want to live in a red state
also bc most of the schools here are either christian schools/not my type
real
so the only texas schools i applied to were a&m and ut austin
to the christian schools constantly emailing me
im bi
🤭
but anyway
southern methodist?
I just think any frat heavy school is weird
yes
I don’t like frat culture
ik damn well once i set foot in college this fall i am avoiding greek life like the plague
Not sure what the classes are like since I haven't taken one, I only have second hand knowledge from a friend taking a course on the Philippines, studying filipino culture and the diaspora and he loves it, as for what the programs are about how race, structures dealing with race, and race as an identity has influenced human history in a variety of ways, while hisc (history of consciousness) only offers a minor to undergrads because they focus on graduate students (very much a well respected program as a result) but they deal with the intersectionality of different human identities/issues caused by human identities and how they influence society. That's my understanding.
be proud of who you are
Applied davis?
sounds fun
thanks
yes
im going statistics

philippines culture and the diaspora is quite interesting
What does greek life even mean
I hear about them all the time
speaking of greek life the only time i ever hear about them is when someone dies bc of alcohol

Yeah I might take the course at some point, or the other one that teaches tagalog, we'll see
How much of an alcoholic they have to be
some places which involves themselves with greek life could be considered to be self-contained
To die from alcohol
yes
Basically fraternities/sororities
Uhhhh what
Depends on the group
some aspects of greek life may include physical and mental abuse
depends on the organization or whoever is running it on a campus
hazing
screw greek life
fr
yeah
Screw my life
Fucking hell
i also know of people who don't view greek life in a positive manner
?
ik a&m has some greek life influence
like a sorority there was trying to get some of the seniors to rush
👁️
but anyways
Engaging in greek life (without necessarily being a part of it) can be fun. Although no compulsion to do so if you don't want to of course. I just think it's a nice experience to try.
as you should
in theory i see how some parts of it might seem uh nice but reality is exactly what you think it ends up being
i should write a blog on this
go ahead
i put data science as my first choice im cooked too we can be cooked together :D
aigjiowejgiowrjgiowejgjwg
loolol
good luck though
even though i applied to math specializing in probability and statistics
with developmental psych as my alt
Ok, I mixed up two universities in Cali. This is the current price according to the net calc so not 75k unfortunately! But I assume there will be costs outside of this and that would raise it to maybe 85k.
Basic TLDR is college is expensive in the bay area!
😭
maybe after this stats midterm :/
Yikes
That’s so insane wtf
I’m cooked
😢😢
i live on the other side of the US
and transport is gonna cost more than that
That and also the UCs are state schools, their duty first is to Californians, so oos and intls are just cash cows to them
^^
Yeah, although it depends on the UC
UCLA is a little friendly
65-75k
but my top choice is berekly so
you can get your visa revoked for protesting?! 😭
possibly
its so ridicolous
what about 1st amendment rights 💀
oh trump doesnt care lol
💀 ngl im cooked
until someone stops his crazy ass were cooked
It depends on the context of your protest
Violating the law to protest is not protected under your visa
You have some protections but you're here by the grace of the nation being willing to let you study under US professors, its something given to you that can be taken.
So intls should be careful at any university if they wish to protest
Wtf
yea they let u in to study not protest
also like the US is the hardest country to immigrate to for any purpose im not sure why you'd want to risk whatever rules the govt has because rest assured they take this very seriously
I shall protest for inti then
Protest for what
well a chinese ucla grad student got their visa revoked for organizing pro-palestine rallies
Huh.. why do the gov even care
though the level of involvement is to a higher degree than just protesting, i feel like it sets a dangerous precedent
Urgh
to crack down on anti-semitism so i've heard
The what?
Bruh
Hatred toward jews?
Why
So.. what she did is..
Organize pro palestine and hate on jews?
Sure where
well yeah but i dont think ive ever heard of a protestor being deported because of the nature of the protest
My understanding is that its fake
fake or not i don’t see why you’d ask for a visa to travel to a country you want to change it’s ways
and i say this as an intl
well i think that a benefit of studying in the US is the fact that its bill of rights outlines that you can make your voice heard when you're discontent with the system
like if you and a group of other students disliked a university's decision on something you can create a petition or protest to make it clear that you disagree
You have a right to participate in lawful protests, not illegal ones
So yes you could make a petition or protest but it would have to follow all rules and regulations
like getting a permit and stuff i get that
but to my understanding wasn't the protest done by that student legal?
kent state 💀
I'm not gonna go to in depth because its a political topic which we try to avoid on the server but the short answer is no. Orders for dispersal were given, the protest didn't meet UC standards for a legal protest (though the administration permitted the protest to continue), and there were legal issues due to actions taken (that from my understanding are still wrapped up in the court system).
Its mentioned in articles
That’s not true at all
Calmatters my beloved (LA Times is dead to me)
im referring to the articles talking about liu lijun
not the uc protests in general
Not a single reputable outlet has reported on that. Those aren’t articles they’re pink slime pieces looking for gullible clicks
I’d recommend looking into lateral reading. It can help when dealing with misinfo/unsubstantiated claims
Love calmatters (not just cause I work there lol)
cal matters 👀
What about it?
from what i am aware, the information on liu lijun involves a video clip that has been circulating since may, when the protests were happening
Interesting mutual
text reads "网传: 陕西铜川人,刘丽君,中国人民大学赴美研究生,党员。支持就光明磊落的支持。"
it seems so
yandex reverse image search pulled a twitter post from may
Hence why lateral reading is important ^
first time learning about this newspaper
Very cool newsroom that I’m a fellow at
Nonprofit, nonpartisan political news and one of the largest outlets in California
I believe it’s number 3 rn
Yup! Love it
It has no paywalls cause it’s nonprofit which is nice
yandex reverse image search my beloved
One of your colleagues did an article on the ideological shift on the ninth circuit, was really pleased to see someone write about it so Calmatters is in like my top 5 newspapers right now.
Are you a uc student
Psych and business is a crazy combo
Omg yeah I love Kristen’s reporting
hey guys
if ur attending any uc as an oos student how do you afford to pay?
ik thers barely any financial aid butdo yk if fafsa covers it at all
really shlawg thats hella helpful
some people utilise the funding system named "daddy's money"
UC Love Data Week is a week-long offering of presentations and workshops focused on data access, management, security, sharing, and preservation
cool data stuff!
erm actually i use mommy's money 🤓 ☝️
i wouldnt attend if you need to take out steep loans
you don't
Median rent was Zillow, the percent houses was a UC document from 2022 or 2023, I forget which year
whats uc's coa?
i remember someone here calced
???
wtf 党员
bro's parents are

they are associated with ccp
thats the rumor
well
yeah
but i believe its likely true
For in state? about 44-45k. oos and intls it will be about 80k
UCs will not give much aid, the most I've heard is about 2-4k a UC and also UCSC has a scholarship where they will cancel the non-resident tuition portion saving you about 30k.
The news was originated from an anti China twitter account
It is never covered in official news channel
Fact checked
hell
official by us?
People said it is from Fox News but Fox News never covered such content
SJP at UCLA also made announcements that people who stayed for the protest after dispersal order are US citizens
So she is most likely a US citizen
Please do your fact check before spreading information
so she stayed?
Bruh the Liu Lijun and visa thing is completely made up
Liu Lijun might not even exist and it is just a made up name
fr
the trump executive order is real though 💔
... In addition to identifying relevant authorities to curb or combat anti-Semitism generally required by this section, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Education, and the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with each other, shall include in their reports recommendations for familiarizing institutions of higher education with the grounds for inadmissibility under 8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(3) so that such institutions may monitor for and report activities by alien students and staff relevant to those grounds and for ensuring that such reports about aliens lead, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, to investigations and, if warranted, actions to remove such alien
only factually true thing in this discussion
Well yes thats the reality of the UCs
At their very core, intended for in state kids, not anyone else, hence why the state is buying up seats at UCSD, UCLA, and UCB
is it maybe worth the dept
depends on your major and what you want to do with your degree
also depends on how much dent it is
i know some people who apply for residency in their second/third year so it reduces the cost + others TA/RA to get remission
time to go job hunting like its the hunger games
might as well try to secure an apartment on the outskirts
you can find cheap apartments closer they're just tiny asf
unfortunately most jobs are work study only :(
its ok
i don't mind small spaces bc i live inside my bedroom most of the time
so can you bypass the 9-12 rule
there's different reqiurements for 18-24
like i know people who aren't residents for the first two years but then become residents from the third year
due to financial independency or something
this is primarily from like first year
neat
Not imo I’m not sure who is giving you that much in loans anyways
^
Typically one of your parents has to live in ca though
Or have a loophole
yeah but its different when you're sharing an already tiny space with another person
i know people who got instate by showing that they were financially independent
i think you have to have a proper job for that though
and show that you can support yourself completely
Yeah there’s a lot of alternate ways
Ik someone whose dad is contracted through this company which allows him to pay in state tuition
i wouldnt rely on them to commit though esp if you dont have parents here
but i think if your question is whether its worth it is subjective
One of my friend’s parents are either buying/renting an apartment in the state she goes to school so she can get in state
bc there are a ton of peope who will gladly pay almost $100k to private universities a year
then again depends on my roommate 🤷
if they're bearable then ill take it
and imo you could easily pay $80k to a UC and probably get a better education
depends on if you prefer privates vs publics though
if i get an apartment while in college and i happen to get a roommate all i need is that roommate not being like avaneesh
I honestly don’t mind the smallness either you just spend more time outside
i know someone who bought a house in texas just to get instate for their son but he ended up going to ucla lol
but yeah other states have much more lax requirements
LMAO
Not a bad investment either way
true true
house in texas 😭
thats a common occurence where i live
anyway if i somehow end up at a uc in college (like accepted this march) i will cry
UCs are great but not worth absurd amounts of debt that you'll spend your life paying off
true
though im a cali girl by heart
🤭
and i don't want to live in a house anyway
apartment is all i need
fair fair
If you’re coming from OOS to a UC, you better be stacked in cash
That 80k is just cost of attendance and among other things it can pile up

yeah you know?
fuck uc
no longer considering them
that extra 30 something k is not worth the rankings
Yup exactly, id much rather go to the top school in your state
i guess rutgers is still my top choice rn
davis got nothing to offer
guys
yes?
Oh yea nah davis out of state is not worth it
im basically international
maybe ur a hot applicant
so... all means oos to me
and u can get a gazillon dollar scholarship
its uc
i honestly doubt LMAO
Yea
maybe ur just that hot of an applicant

(i’m delusional)
UC aint gonna give allat 💀
hey at least we are happy
but dont keep hopes up
higher the hopes , harsher the reality

Real
please tamu
please vt
im not even hoping for udub at this point
life is going murphy
all i need for christmas is youuuuu
davis intl ama
How much you pay
they really be taking their time
first year ~70
they ruined my christmas w that deferral
yikes
should go down next year w food and dorms
🤧🤧
UMN ruined my christmas too
cali moment

still
thats like
way above
maybe in 60s
i mean i'll also end up graduating in 3 years
yessir
hows social life in davis?
depends
what do you want out of it
there's a frat scene, not big however its more of a "if you look for it, you'll find it"
its very quiet
Yea thats tough but I assume your stacked in cash right
Oe got some scolarship
err no we're banking on that sweet tech internship next year
Cooked 😔
Yeah it’s the move
But issue is if your gpa matters gg life
Esp if they’re all stem

Trust I’m drowning rn

thinking about making fanart where ucsd and ucd's mascots face off against a&m and ut austin's mascots
wouldnt have it any other way tbh
wait so
if i become a resident of california
as an 18 year old lets say
during the 2nd year i can get financial aid basically?
and rent an apartment
if someone can answer this id appreciate it
Yeah I love my classes
on my way! to find a part time job so i can secure myself an apartment
if you become a resident you dont pay nonresident tuition
financial aid depends on your sai
this you could do regardless i think
but how do i become a resident?
live in the state for a year
look up UC residency for tuition purposes
wait but then in this case
💀
my brother is attending uc out of state
we used to live in cali
hows that going?
used to doesn't really cut it
master's degree and he lives off campus
thanks a lot
thats fun
Also that one
150 pages is like a whole chapter book you read in 3rd grade
wait so is ur brother
paying 70k
around that
does he wish to establish residency at all?
dad holds residency in california since 2020
then again my parents are green card holders
it's possible
not dependt on parents

i haven't heard much on him yet in regards to establishing cali residency
but anyway
ill admit i sometimes question my mom why we wouldn't just move in with dad
🤭
yeah no it would be sm easier fir u too
true
and maybe you couldve paid the first two years but like 3rd and 4th
wouldve been easier
yeah
then again i can also go full hunger games style in trying to secure part time work while studying
then i can secure a cheap apartment
that is so cooked yo
but u can share
w someone else
off campus so like
it wouldnt be bad lowk
true then again depends on my roommate
as long as my roommate isn't like avaneesh/just rude and ungrateful in general ill be fine
when he was transfering the ucsd newspaper actively criticized the decision to let him in
BUT HOW.
he probably lied on his apps given his reputation 🤷
yeah ong bruh
he failed biology twice at uhouston btw
and at ucsd he got one of his professors to go online for the rest the quarter bc he was being a nusance
yeah
i remember tho
i thought he was lokced up
someone allegedly had him as his roommate
probation
oh no
realistically you're not gonna make enough to cover stuff though
like you'll work minimum wage for 20/hr which will get you like barely $400 a week
thats around $20800 a year
$1733.33 a month
so cooked
i’m so ready to take on UC debt!
(i’m currently 50 cents short on uber eats)

then again my life goals in terms of housing/cars are rather simple 🤷
just your average girl living in a nice cheap apartment with her normal but still nice car
what state u initially from?
texas
Guys
How cooked am I
I thought my payment went thru for the UCs a long time ago
And I log in my portal today
And apparently I never paid for the extra UC
Is my application still gonna be even processed
😭😭😭😭
same
i havent even made the portal
the again they’re infamous for being unpredictable 🤷

OOS and us intls are equally cooked

idk.. i thought that was her 😭 same typa hair and facial structure ig
LOL
she cud pass for a younger laufey ig?
I don’t see it
Ppl tell me i look like Sam from Sam and kat sometimes but that’s it
Is it harder to get in as an international for UCs?
no idea what that is, but ill take ur word for it
😭
maybe im blind, i have 4 eyes anyways
prolly? i mean they're a state school so im leaning towards yeah
Depends on the ucs
Real
I’m in state
Ppl are saying it’s easier to get oos coz they want more money
😭😭
And less ppl apply
I will be so happy to get into any of the ucs fr i dont think Ill get into any (besides merced)
UCSC please take me 🤞
There have been new laws in state so dw about that
they have a unique mascot
True
Rahhh Banana Slugs no known predators I love Sammy!!!
Fun fact: Sammy the slug only became our mascot after students rebelled against the administrations choice of a mascot. When he was victorious and seized the throne, some students created an anthem to celebrate his victory.
I actually have the file of the song lol
I summarized the year by year acceptance rates for intls if you are curious, you can see it in the pins
how is the song
It’s pretty good imo
is there a video that accompanies the song
is it just an audio file or is there footage of students singing it
I only have the audio file
It was the 80s so I don’t think there’s a music video
Technically there’s the more official anthem the school made but I like this one more
This is epic
Also banana slug is so peak for mascots
It’s a fire song and I love Sammy it really feels like his anthem
Another fun fact: Banana slugs are the state slug of California
We have a state slug??????
Yessir and it’s the Banana slugs cause it’s the best slug (no bias)
real 😔
oh nice
Meanwhile on the discord
W what major
immunology/microbiology
Oh very cool
my gpas kind of low thoguh so ill have to try harder on essays
that reminds me i gotta make my ucsd and ucd vs tamu and ut austin fanart 🤩
i live in texas make tamu and ut win 🤩
I know we have a microbiology and environmental toxicology major
damn
So that might be up your alley
ik ucsc is also known for space science
astronomy has to be the most intresting thing ever
nice
it is
A lot of the astrophysics kids get to work there at some point
working at nasa is so much aura
we have a substitude who worked at nasa for alot of the time and hes so chill
legit my role model 😭
NASA is very cool
A lot of the UCs collaborate with them
And clubs will do so also
👀
I know ucsc does a decent amount of research with them
And some of the clubs have worked with them also
how many aps is good for ucsc
