#All UCs (2024-2025)
1 messages Ā· Page 6 of 1
wtf
Somehow the most Iād waited for food was like 5 mins
Actually nah like 10 mins in brownās, 5 mins in GBC
Ya this is why u come to usc
No having to worry abt waiting in long ass lines for food
WHAT
I like kinda forgot how massive the UCās get
most are pushing 20-30 thousand (some 40 thousand+)
excluding merced which is barely 10K
i honestly cant imagine what 40 thousand looks like
Yeah its only 18k undergrad and 2k grad students
berkeley and los angeles:
Itās smaller than other ucs/other ucla classes
Yes
Yeah cause your food sucks
I remember trying it
Guaranteed would have lost so much weight there š
Lowkey itās not that bad my friend at duke has bigger classes than me
ruby what uc are you in
The number one one š
los angeles
Yessir
You should apply
Absolutely no regrets choosing la in the 3 weeks Iāve been here
USC always tryna put their name in the convo coz they irrelevant
No literally where is usc in this thread
Fr
Have you joined any clubs or anything
Yeah
What clubs
Undergrad Math Student Association and ucla backpacking club
Didnāt apply to any of the competitive ones because they all pretentious af
Very cool
Me š
I applied though
also coz none of them fit into what I intend to do in grad school
If you get into the competitive ones thatās very g
I am already on the max units and work in the CS dept. so I didnāt have time for high demand clubs
Go to ucla to gain weight or go to usc to be healthy
there they come again
Hoping
I lost weight at ucla
Iām eating too healthy
all that walking up the hill
Howās the hill climb compared to Foothill at Berkeley?
Actually I would kinda know because Iāve been to both but havenāt had the student experience of the hill
UCLA is so overhyped itās not bad
I mean, itās alright
Like itās not youāre doing mountain climbing or some shit, itās a casual hike
Also kinda needed given how unhealthy some of the food at the dining halls are
I usually just take the staircase coz I think itās faster than climbing up the hill
Some people go back to their dorms multiple times during the day so they probably think itās annoying
I have an 8 am but then I also study in the engineering lounge after work and stay there till 8 pm and then finally go back to my dorm
Yes ā¹ļø
Itās eh maybe Iām just week but I struggle to get up those stairs on campus
Yeah I do this
Cause cluster classes
Wack
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DA_o19Jy-B-/ ngl this is so cute
45 mins when Cafe 3 had Mac and cheese
Bigger school doesnāt necessarily mean bigger classes š¤·āāļø
Also depends on your major tbh
Cause my roommate has like 80 kids in her major
And the major I want to do only has 200 kids
Makes sense
Yeah Davis is 30k+ total but the design major is less than 100 iirc
Can confirm, my math lecture is only 35 students
but the clusters can be like 500+ people
cant imagine computer science and engineering class sizes for the ucs
like those probably are in the thousands
same with medical
What are clusters
My cs class is 1200 people itās fire š„ big community to learn from
Data 8 is 1500 here
My English class is 17 š
17 š
Mine is 200 yeah
Year long classes that cover a bunch of geneds
You can drop though
probably ucla version of fpf lmao
wait really?
within the college you're admitted to
if you're tryna go from college --> engineering, then you need to take an engineering workload for like the first 3 quarters you're here and only then be able to petition to switch
likewise for engineering --> college
bruh you dont know what fpf is?
fall program for first semester
they take classes in a separate building and their class choices are limited
but it covers a lot of breadth requirements
and you cant opt out of the program
one of my roommates was admitted as CS but wants to do pure math and is unable to enroll into graduate classes because engineering blocks him from adding grad classes to his study list
some people were given the choice of whether to be in fpf or not but others were just pushed into it without their consent
but smaller class sizes more of a community or whatever
yeah clusters here are not like that
you enroll into a cluster if you want to or not, and if you want to cover the most GEs, you stay there for all 3 quarters but you can also just drop it after a quarter and get one GE done
Yeah especially in l&s but even between schools it possible
Yeah itās not the same
You have quite a few choices + its optional
nope
i dont have many ges to do though
just need r1a r1b and two humanities
and the ethics engineering
for me i only need to do phys and bio
Ethics? Now why would anyone need those?
everything else overlaps w major requirements
phys im doing this sem, bio next sem
everything else including am cultures and the other stuff is done lol
nice
but switching to nursing is especially difficult right, since its the most impacted major at ucla
Oh nursing, thatās like the most competitive to get into š
I prob donāt know the complete stats but I think the admit rate for nursing BS is like 0.5% or smthing
I wouldnāt know about how to transfer into there tbh
I must say though that the health and life sciences campus at ucla is very peaceful and pretty
Thereās a botanical garden right next to the school of nursing and life sciences
Itās where all the nursing students and med students chill and hangout
Most moral AI researcher
You probably wont be transferring into nursing
less than 1 percentā¦
I lowk wud not do that
y
I went to my math dept student services yesterday to get the go ahead to enroll into grad classes from either winter or spring
most grad profs here are chill with undergrads enrolling in their courses
(For math, canāt say much about the other depts)
You have to apply to ucla nursing directly
They only take 40 to 50 people
Yeah if you want to transfer you canāt do it from ucla directly
Thereās only a few ucs w nursing
All the nursing students are super cool though most are in my chem class
Court of sciences šāāļø
Every single one of my classes/discussions is there + Franz
O
Yeah I am mostly on south campus
my classes are in math sciences and boelter
which is super close to engineering VI where I work so pretty convenient
i wish ucs had more bsn programs
instead of just ucla and uci
š„¹
its a pretty demanded major no?
I suppose it doesnt add anything the rest need
hallo avi
im good, hbu!
I'm alright, I might go off campus to get some food in a bit cause dining is closed
Also I feel like I'm behind on stuff but my brain cant tell me what I'm behind on
what time do all the halls close
8 for us but final bus from downtown leaves at 11:30 so I could go down, get some food, come back
When do Purdue halls close
8? Thatās so early
I think the halls close here at like 9 or 10? Probably 9
Some of the cafes are open till 10 and thereās one open till 12
most are 9, but some are 1 am
howās the AI program at Purdue
its great :D
im just a freshamn, but the curriculum seems nice
Nice
Thatās good
On weekdays itās usually 11
But yeah weekends they cut it early
Itās fine though cause if you are really hungry you can just take the bus to downtown to get food
Does UC offer application fee waivers for international students?
No the UCs will not cut costs for internationals
if i dont qualify for uc app fee waivers but have circumstances that may lead to me getting one can i appeal?
its bc theyre taking taxes from last yhear
I didn't qualify for the UC fee waivers by like a very very small amount š but there are alternatives.
If you had the SAT fee waiver, you can use that to qualify for the UC app fee waiver.
Beyond that, I am not sure.
wym ?
im 4k over for qualifying
when you apply you select pay by check, and you mail the fee waiver to the university of california, they'll waive the costs
you can also email the waiver
umm where do i get said waiver
go to college board
Click āMy SATā on the homepage. Then scroll down to see your fee waiver benefits. Click to print your waivers, and fill out the form that pops up.
i think i was off by like 500, i had a friend off by 10 š
TYSM!
is being 4k over too much?
no it doesnt matter at all as long as you have an sat fee waiver
i think at least
my counselor told me just to put a number close to it, i dont know if theres big consequences for this so maybe this is bad advice but i dont think it makes a huge difference if you put 4k lower
because i don't think they are going to take the effort to verify that number
well if im doing fafsa i dont want it to show up as an error or smth
how bad is uc berkeley course selection
from my class of 2024 friends i heard it's hell unless u get a 9AM course selection slot
can any berkeley student confirm
and how can i get a 9AM or another really early course selection slot
it's not that bad
but it depends on your major / what classes you're looking at
i got a 11:30 slot and got into every class but my cs class but during this phase called the adjustment period, all the reserved seats become unreserved so I was able to register in it then (everyone has a 9 am slot for adjustment)
looking specifically for eecs and/or other engineering (like aero)
you'll be fine engineering classes are usually huge so have a bunch of seats
what about the prereq classes
- if you come in declared that'll be easier as well
for l&s we're undeclared so it's slightly harder
but in coe you're declared iirc
my aero friend told me that he didn't get into one of the prereq classes š
luck + regents + seniority + dsp
can i bribe ppl
no
rip
you may not get every class you want but you can always take it the next semester
your chances of getting a bad enrollment time twice are low
afaik it's not completely random like they try to alternate
like for spring I have a 9 am enrollment time
I may have priority tho idk
my roommate got 2 pm last time and 10 am this time
dyk anyone who had those course selection slots?
yeah
how hard was it for them to get into their desired classes
and do eecs classes have grad student or undergrad TAs?
at max you won't get into 1 or 2 classes
but for the most part you'll be fine
you learn to adjust and adapt accordingly
you're not gonna be forced to take biology classes all 4 years as an eecs major
so eecs classes typically don't have prereqs that are hard to get into?
idk about eecs specifically but i do know that for cs our main TAs (who sometimes actually teach the classes) are grad students but there are also a bunch of other TAs (who help w lab and discussion sections and grading i presume) who are a mix of grad and undergrad
this is for cs61a btw which is a class all cs/ds/eecs majors need to take
its all about being prepared and strategic
no? they have both bs cs and ba cs
oh wait so they just moved BA CS to a different program
i see that makes a lot m ore sense
ty for your help!
yeah
no problem! gl with your apps and lmk if you have any other berk or uc questions
You can buy classes but itās technically not allowed but kids do it anyways
How does that work
I would like to involve myself in the field of purchasing and selling of courses
you pay someone else to reserve a seat for you and then exchange class on the class enrollment portal
Oh are you able to directly exchange?
i haven't done it because i get priority š
In the cc systems you can really only enroll in a course
Then whoeverās next in the waitlist will get it
i don't think there's like any system that allows two people to exchange, you both just have to coordinate it
I see
The other idea would be to let the class go on while youāre on the waitlist then swap
Not sure though
Just some random thoughts
i think the seniors will be able to explain it better but ye, i have seen posts on the r/ucla sub offering 300+ to reserve a class (because they had a later enrollment appointment)
Again this is more for cc knowledge I have no clue how enrollment works in other academic institutions
yeah i think for the very popular classes that are required for a lot of majors, that's how it works
for upper-divs, at least in the math dept, you can probably just get a permission to enroll code directly from the prof and override any system holdbacks
Yeah thatās what I was thinking
The issue is that the idea is contingent on the idea that the prof will let you bypass the other individuals on the system
But here ik itās probably possible
mhm
for some of the popular classes like 131a real analysis/115a linear algebra, i don't think profs will give out PTE and just let the system do its thing because there can only be so many people that fit into a lecture hall
however, for the honors sequence (like 131ah/115ah), i think you need a PTE from the beginning to be able to enroll, the system won't allow unless you have a 5 digit code to enroll in the class
at least that's what i had to do to enroll in my honors analysis class
Thatās fair
Iāve never really had any reason to figure out the system
For other institutions that werenāt under the community college umbrella so
This is nice to see
yeah
wait u can do that?
like directly transferring classes between students exists?
no, just have to coordinate the timing really well
Over here that wouldnāt work
Youād have to be number 1 on the waitlist
Iāve seen people that are number 1 on the waitlist try to buy spots tho
i don't think it would work at berkeley as well
i have never seen it in action tbf but i know people buy spots
offering 300+ to reserve is crazy though, i would take that offer š
^
Youāre regents?
You can do it through the department easily
You can through the department
Yeah you can do this w lower divs too it just really depends on the department
Chem department apparently never has and never will be doing that
that's quite interesting
Yeah thereās a lot of bypass
All your classes have WLs?
thank you for letting me know. This is very cool.
that's very good to know
Ofc
Yeah I canāt speak for the other UCs but I was planning on swapping labs that way but I just sucked it up and let it be
AFAIK yes
this isn't for berkeley btw it's for ucla
Very interesting
well berkeley is worse so i anticipate they will have a similar system
I would say though for some classes you really donāt have a choice (CS61A, data c8)
Thereās one fixed time it seems

?????
Numquam quidquam assume
me applying to berkeley on a 3.7 uw gpa with no school clubs, sports, or volunteer work long term:
Who knows u might get in
true
im going to cook on my essays to the best of my abilities š¤
and if i do end up in berkeley i may as well encounter my brother in the wild
berkeley loves essays
@high bronze who's your fav professor so far
jeremy prob
data 8
ummm
he's jsut really appraochable
actually i like my english prof a lot too
AHH i have no reservations
my professors are all great
denero the goat
paulin the goat
too hard to choose
š
mmm
Yo chat I just wanted to give a quick lil calm information regarding UC admissions at least for UCSD/UCLA to my knowledge because UCSD and UCLA are extremely similar
Rule of thumb is if you get into UCLA you got into UCSD usually
Most ucsd admits who didn't get into ucla were waitlisted so they're same bucket
they use a ranking system of 1-5 in different aspects to determine your overall rank. 1 is best 5 is worst
this what they look for at least for ucsd
So when you are applying make sure to emphasize those things cause they are specifically looking for them
ohh is this the admissions file
š§
plenty of ucla peeps that got rejected from ucsd and uci
I wouldnāt take this advice
since you only have 4 questions to answer and 9 different campuses, each of which looks for something that suits to them, I would just say submit an application that talks about you rather than tryna hack the system and set yourself up for failure with high expectations
What do they define as exceptional involvement, demonstrated , and strong
Unfortunately idk abt engineering
Wait also how do u request for one
Iām not at a uc
But like
A lot of people here got wl or rejected by sd š
if i have lots of candles id light them while i place my ucsd sweater in the center manifesting me getting into a uc
insights gained from piqs: adhd š
his piq was about adhd
š
Trust guys
You will find your place regardless of where you go
My best friend desperately wanted to go to ucsd, la or any SoCal school and sheās at Davis and sheās absolutely living it up
Like Iām at ucla and sheās partying it up more than me š like tenfold and sheās a cs major
i'm seeing all these "senior year rigor" but i kinda have objectively less rigor than junior year ā ļø
i haven't been to a single party
well i mean i have heard it's pretty hard to get entry as a male
but tbh, after reading some of the UCPD alerts and the police reports, I would prefer to not associate myself with that kinda behavior
I have but like idk
Theyāre interesting
No just frats
Understandable
frats are a vibe icl
yeah i had 3 ap sciences and like 3 DE math courses last yr
this year i have zero math courses
and ap physics 2
lmao
how true are the uc socially dead allegations
You can join the Costco club
Or the plane flying club
So true. Like lowkey most people are very adaptable and can feel at home in many places
There will always be a pocket of people somewhere among the thousands of people at a uni who you will vibe with
Exactly
CAROLINE
Idk actually but the dorms look nice
Sixth college
tbh idk
There are def some cool people here but also some losers
Like i've had people who will yap to you which is cool or mfers who u will try to talk to but instead they just side eye you and look down
Like bro you are so lame
so one of my ecs is classified as volunteer work (discord server moderator) and im wondering if the aos do fact check the ecs
š¤
Is it cause you donāt want them to know the server?
You donāt have to name it
In the UC ec discord example the server is not named
As such one can presume that the name of the server is an unnecessary component for the write up of that EC
What if I want them to know I moderate a fitness server with 20k+ people
no just asking bc the server has over 2k people to the point it's a psuedo organization
wait theres examples??
Discord moderator as an activity is insane bro you're cooked
Yes there are
where
send once you come back

why is the ucsd sub so funny
LOLLLL
HELP
THE COMMENTS
š š š
ucsd subreddit is so funny
I check on UCSD because sometimes I worry about them
thank you
Yeah np
anyway if i somehow end up in uc berkeley i might as well try finding out where my brother is or encounter him in the wild somewhere on campus
also when i visited ucsd earlier this year i saw some christian missionaries(?) on the pathways
i wonder if any of the other ucs have similar experiences
like they have those leaflets about god and whatnot and their organization's info
oh and do those christian people appear on campus all year round
ucsd is like right next to the sd mormon temple
checks out
computer science should be running rn
LMAOO
unstable school for unstable people š¤
like me š¤
Yup thereās a pretty regular group here in sproul plaza
berkeley?
yea
have you heard of any incidents between the students and those groups
Not really?
Iām more focused on other things š
Honestly Iāve walked by then quite a lot and theyāve never really reached out, theyāre just stationary
lmao
Like I accidentally make eye contact and I trigger an unskippable cutscene
i mean theres nearly 50k people there
Basically yeah
Thereās always something new I guess
There are sometimes preachers with microphones
: o
oh my god imagine doing that while a lot of people are walking trying to go to class
Meh it doesnāt bother me much while briefly passing
part of why its dream school
same also boba
for me at least
i also get to see sea lions
Sproul plaza isnāt really near near to any of the classes, even wheeler hall (which is the closest) is a decent distance away in which you wouldnāt really even know whatās going on there
i see
I know there's one culty club here but the rest are pretty chill
It's kinda hard to proselytize when you are in a forest
which club?
sproul is a beautiful place imo, a cool clash of ideas, sometimes you be walking and its just an acapella group and its a good vibe IMO
whats the chances of getting off the waitlist for ucla
because i was under the impression that only a few get off and theres thousands of people on the waitlist, but then my friend told me the chances are like 20% š for getting off the UCs waitlist
Depends on a lot of factors
Major and space availability and such
Depends on the year
This year a lot lot lot of people got off the wl
Whereas Berkeley took 26 people off their wl this year and the year before 24% was taken off
Waitlist acceptance rates are super variable year to year
berkeley cs61a prof
is that the incel guy
no
The what guy
probably referring to shewchuk, he does the intro ml course
there was a really inappropriate Ed post that he made
oh
my uGSI told me he saw the madness go live
šļø
since he moderates edstem too
AVEšššš
wtf
my glasses are really loose right now, when I was taking a test yesterday they kept falling while I was looking down at my paper š
just stopped wearing my glasses at that point and had to squint a bit
rip
how was data 8 midterm
i heard it was light
istg ucsd has so many psychology degreess
Wasnāt bad, one question was pretty funny in particular
The point distributions were weird though
one multiple choice question was like 5 points and one that required a decent amount of steps in implementation was like 2 points
ohh
we had a 6 point question on my astro midterm that was "who's the instructor of this course" lol
lmfao
ranking the ucsd colleges is too hard guys
someone give me their list por favor š
Depends on what you want and your major
I will say if you are a stem major and not super into humanities rank erc last
I have 2 friends in it and they despise it
Despise it cause they're stem and just don't enjoy humanities or despite it cause the course sucks
Geneds suck
Ah
the fact i just read the por favor in peggy hill's voice even though i took 2 years of spanish in high school š
in terms of gpa iām probably limited to santa cruz, riverside and merced unless they consider my honors classes bc my school does not allow sophomores to take no more than 2 aps and i took 5 honors classes lol
at least i have my passion for my ecs and essays š¤
They'll consider honors classes I believe
Find a specific institution's A-G course list. View associated schools within a school district or network. List of online schools with A-G course lists. To search for A-G courses by title or type, use the A-G Course Search.
you can see if they're honors-approved
Yeah
||ive got to admit||
oh
H world history in this case wasn't honors-approved
Yeah it depends on the school
Not sure but you can check your school
ah
im not sure etiher honestly
my school hardly has much uc applicants but when they do they usually are admitted
anyway iāll check with my school
That makes sense because apart from Berk and LA oos and international applicants have an easier time
ah
This is because schools use the fullpay oos and intls to pay for in state kids
hold up oos has a higher acceptance rate iirc
yeah
anyway iāll check in with my school even though do not live in california lol
gl!
thanks
what does ucb and ucsc consider "local areas"
cuz they probably take allat of local students right
why does it matter
well heres the thing they prob dont care if ur local or not
yea but it's a state school?
being a student close to ucsc or berkeley they dont care
still dont care
despite uci being close to me, i got rejected
so end of the day, they dont care
They donāt
Csus care more about region than ucs
Ucs just care if youāre in state or oos
yeah so they serve the state
never do revelle
screw revelle
or erc unless you like your stem education filled with humanities sidequests
rejected from uci and into usc is diabolical
it is what it is we move on
whatās wrong with revelle
i wonder if avaneesh's spirit haunts ucsd
lmaooo
he almost came to purdue
D:
who is avaneesh
whos gonna tell her
im all ears
the first thing i saw was a mugshot š
guys speedrunning at failing in life
OH MY GOD
purdue š
thereās even an entire article from ucsdās newspaper from september 2022 š
like how was he even allowed to begin with
also him in houston š
im going down a rabbithole at the moment š š š
might as well start a research paper š¤©
omg in the reddit post he was allegedly going after a&m and ohio state
oh heās at florida state
š
i just watched the dad video and holy shit
its worse if you understand it
top 10 crashouts
ik in some parts the dad is speaking in another language though ik he pratically disowned his son
Holy shit
no way thats real
It actually is
I know two people that have actually seen and know about him irl
no fucking way
itās giving lolcow
heās gone to 3 going on 4 schools
uhouston
ucsd (thereās a lot of coverage of his time there on the ucsd subreddit, even the ucsd newspaper (guardian) and san diego tribune talked about him when he transferred there)
purdue
florida state (current)
and allegedly ohio state (based on osu abbreviation as the schools he attends are generally very recognizable in some way) and texas a&m
yep
and he went off on purdue by snapchatting as he said slurs to them š
š
like in his transfer to purdue he is required to state that he went to ucsd
thatās why he was rescinded though either way he wouldnāt have gotten in lol
like regardless if he actually does notify purdue about his enrollment at ucsd he wouldnāt get in bc of his atrocious reputation (his yikes-worthy social media and criminal record, the news articles about him at ucsd)

and it wasnt the felonies that got him rescinded
it was an administrative issue (he never disclosed he went to ucsd)
so glad i dont have to see him here š
i just got back with my counselor regarding honors classes
anyway looks like iāll be avoiding revelle college š¤·
davis fun stuff https://engineering.ucdavis.edu/news/artificial-intelligence-center-engineering-uc-davis
The UC Davis College of Engineering has established a new center focused on artificial intelligence, or AI. The UC Davis AI Center in Engineering will work to leverage AI for the betterment of humanity and the planet through advancements in foundational research, translational applications and educational efforts.
ai hell yeah
big W
coolio
yeah which is pretty fucking fuynny
according to my counselor the honors offered at my school should be about the same as honors here
even though my school is out of state...
eh š¤·
the few people who apply to uc at my school every year (i may be the only person doing so lol)
they usually are admitted
imma cook on my essays š¤
if relatives in california financially support me does that count as "financial independence"
no
so the only options for establishing tuition residency are:
- parents live in cali
- be financially independent
yes
have a job that supports you wholly
im trying to establish residency rn and it's not easy
so my mom is trying to get my brother on board in helping me with my application like giving me tips
Yeah
Get your parents to move there and youāll get in state tuition for 2 years
my dad lives in california
that could work for instate
look into the condit bill
yeah
in that case my dad's been a permanent resident of california since october 2020
he also should have less than 6 weeks of absence from the state
per year
yeah you should be fine then
For those interested, UCSD has now passed Berkeley in population count under current numbers, making it the second largest UC by student population
wait whats the first
For each school?
Or just UCSD
I can get them all just give me a minute
i guess for each school yeah

Of the UCs, 5 have med schools, 2 have joint medicine programs with UCSF, and 3 do not have med schools, though one of them, Merced, is in the process of building one, and another, Santa Cruz, is in the process of analyzing the value of adding a med school.
@high bronze The whole rundown of student population by UC, along with some extra data on med schools
Some of the UCs haven't released fall 2024 data yet
So some of its out of date, but I doubt any of those one have explosive enough growth to take over another UC
i didnt know uc had a limit for the amount of hours you volunteered
i have more than 200 volunteer hours but the maximum number i can put is 168

oh its per week
nevermind
Very detailed ! Where did u pull the data from ?
Thanks! Some of them I pulled from the public press releases the UC pushes out, others I access through their data sets that they have open to the public
I really wanna pin this but I think some links would be helpful too (but youāve done an amazing job at this!) you didnāt have to do this much š„ŗ
Thanks lol, I'll add the links since I got time to spare, and if any mod wants to pin it they should feel free to do so
Links added. Interestingly, while adding the links, I noticed that Davis's CDS and the UC data sets differ by two students. Minor, but interesting
@high bronze in case you need the links
Fire stuff broski
im still not getting in
aoifjwjwovnowinvw
damn
isn't UCLA the smallest UC by size
all yall really packed in there huh
Idk how yall UCs students do it, but I walked the path my friends goes to class, and it takes 20 fcking min
wtf
And I donāt think thatās the farthest
i dont walk more than 7 minutes
if its more than that, i take the bus
love buses here
7 minute walk being long is crazy
The longest walk I have is like 10 minutes
But general walking can be more
But its not bad
You get used to it
wtf
what
Taking a bus to class just seems insane to me
Yeah but thatās just the overall size
Davis is the largest by size but they donāt use half their land
Lots of it is ag stuff
The longest I have to walk is 15 mins but some of my friends have to walk 30-40
Nah the only time you see lines are when theyāre giving out free stuff every day
Also thereās the off campus property
So not all UCLA students are on at the same time
it's like a 2 minute bus lol im just lazy
Yeah, the restaurants to feel packed but the south campus is a lot better
Isnāt USC like 45K students in downtown š
Iām talking abt on campus, like getting to class
omg hi š
The buses here are packed
I would rather walk in that case
I walk 35-40 minutes a couple times a week bc Iād rather not wait for the bus
JOSH
damn
ours are always empty
except in the mornings
but in the mornings i only need it for like 2 stops so
Ours are busy but you can find space (usually) or wait a bit and one will come
Itās weird I took one in the after noon and it was packed
Then after like 30 mins of doing my shopping I take another AC bus and it was a ghost town bro
š
damn
where'd you shop
Dark Carnival
where's that
i just used apple maps i forgot
but it's a book store
and i picked up some cool cyberpunk literature for my english class
OOOOOOOOOH
i think these two links would be helpful
welcome back
š
acceptance rate for public health is abysmal bru š we have it as bad as nursing applicants
Thereās plenty of other ucs w great public health
Itās ok if things donāt work out you always have other options
True
pure cs or eecs?
yeah
are you taking 61a
Yeah
how are you feeling about the midterm
I think I'll do fine (havent started studying yet)
real
Was sick for 1 day and somehow 1 week behind for math and cs now
but lwk i went to the review sesh today and they were doing basic ahh stuff so i left
maybe im just being paranoid bc i barely studied for the first one and did fine
but idk how to study for cs
rip that happens
I look through powerpoints + review past exams
yeah
powerpoints are short and fast to read and summarize pretty nice
textbook pretty dense
the videos are nice
Yeah, but I have the attentionspan of a fish
damn nice how was the first midterm
im doing first midterm as practice test tmrw i hope i get at least a 30/40
A bit lower than median lol
But im just tryna pass tbh
where's your f
tbh thats why i see videos instead of textbook
first midterm was lwk light its just a bit of brain power
like if i wasn't being an idiot i could've easily gotten a full score
Videos are kinda slow, but when you set it 2x speed words get jumbled
my brain works on 2x speed atp tbh
i've been watching denero's lectures at 8x just bc im so behind š
I pretty much got no points on env diagram š
yeah that was kinda tricky
Got cooked on diagram. Everything else is fine
i thought i'd lose a lot there but the only point i lost was the fact that the function returns nothing š š

on my transcript ngl
ah ic
I wonder how the acceptance rate for CS/EECS will be this year
ok thats valid
currently watching oop lectures at 1.25 š
hard grinding for the midterm rn
I gotta catchup on math or else Imma be cooked there
whats your biggest opp
like what topic is hardest
1a?
56
yes, what is the hardest topic 4 u
definitely recursion
i thought i had it down and then i did more practice problems and realized i dont understand it at all
i still understand how 1 + works lol. Aparently you can keep count with it????
trees are tough too
i hate recursion bc you cant env diagram it
im recatching up on oop i feel like i dont get it either but we'll see
I have env diagram cause u gotta env diagram it š¤£
real
what is oop?
ah
the project title is ants vs some bees
like its just one project
isn't it due 10/30
oh damn you guys are hella fucked
for me ants is due after the midterm cuz our midterm got moved up a week
oh ic
we had ants checkpoint last week tho
and there's only 3 problems left and they're easy asf
excpet queen bee
oh damn
how many pts total
23
nice nice
l u c k y
wait holy shit
61a is so cruel
you need 270/300 for an A- while c88c you only need 170/200
i mean acc nvm its the same amount of points
but proportionally its diff
ic
wait i just found out
if you submit an assignment late on bcourses
you dont get confetti
:((((
im only 1 hour late i want my confetti :(
awww ty
waitt there was a review session?
There are a few lol
Fax
the american mind cannot comprehend
lol
it was the most basic shit ever you didnt miss much
cs70 anyone?
Yes
shut yo premed ahh up
What Iām in that class
You donāt see me sitting in the front every day?
Erm actually my grades are better than yours š¤
I think youāre self projecting rn
its quite hard to not be ngl
my grades are about as bad as theyve ever been
Iāve been hearing this tbh
Its cause youāre all used to getting Aās
š¦
grade inflation ahh school
People still manage to fail idk how
Like you cannot be that dumb
Honestly yeah
No
Also like
It gets much harder
Iām just enjoying the easy stuff rn
Take biochem and then weāll talk
im in bruin consulting
Does this club even exist
Oh yeah it does
none of them are as close to as good as berkeley ones tho š
Are you in any rn
I lowkey think you would have liked it
Today someone in a business frat came up to me and asked if I was Indian š
arent you indian
Yes
But they were like
Doing a punishment and wanted to interview me
Itās like that could have been me if I pledged
idiot
shouldve pledged
Wdym
Nah
Iām not trying to live that life
You should have rushed
acc one of the vps of my club said the same thing to me
ā¦
Alright buddy
I told you before you got there but you couldnāt be bothered to listen to my amazing advice š
Thatās valid
Hazing is real
And idiotic
as soon as i enter college im avoiding greek life like the plague
next year :D
yk i think it depends where you go
ucla sororities don't haze and are quite supportive
Says who I got cooked by the biotech quiz today
berkeley sororities haze pretty bad
Iāve only been to homework parties
Homework parties tf
I will tell you how
Thatās how they fail
š
hog was worse
HOW
That was so easy what
Oh really??
my roommates rushed so ik for fact ucla does not
help what
real
oh nice
hows ur shoebox room
Nah I am kidding I made 1 silly error
Gotta deal with 2 more quarters of this bs though
I hate the 1% participation per week, 10% research paper, 10% speech, 5% peer review, 15% quiz 1, 10% quiz 2, 30% final, and remaining % bullshit type grading
just fucking keep it 30-30-40 and be done with it
what error
i mean you can drop it lol
Loll
it's chill they are trying to make it accessible to everyone
Nah calc doesnāt quit
Imperial vs Oxford study
I think a much simpler grading system is more accessible, itās not overwhelming and you donāt need to keep track of so many things at once
lol
The frq?
Sorry bad phrasing more considerate of different learning styles
no but my roommate's taking math 55
not real
grade deflation barely exists here
lwk
