#All UCs (2024-2025)

hi
yeah i got that
🦾
hii. good luck with nursing in California
idk maybe my teachers will write an awesome recc letter that carries me

nursing in California is tough but working there is so nice with the unions
i have to say cal bear is one of my favorite mascots he's so silly
ikr i love oski
probably later this month
was that when the fall 2023 was put in last year
cuz i am not ready to see my school's numebrs 💀
idk tbh 😭
Good for questbridge kids
is it because theres too many ppl going for nursing
tempted to do a career switch
actually might be april
the 2023 numebrs were put in april this year
why are my most similar dialect in texas
just move states
according to the nyt thing
My school has their own numbers but I don’t think they’re accurate 💀
bruh
the 2022 numebrs were put in febuary 2023
@dry pollen @midnight vine apparently not my dialect that gives northeastern because my least similar dialects are new york and philly
damn
apparently yall should've thought im texan
dukie my pookie
you can do nursing school in another state and test + get your license in California after graduating
a lot of people do that
Dang 😭
No you’re too normal for Texas
HELP
wait.. I'm from Texas
the dialect test kinda hard for me though because i use a lot of words to describe the same thing
like i say semi, semi-truck, truck, 18-wheeler, and big rig interchangeably
also i use roly poly and pillbug interchanegably
I've never heard someone use big rig
really?
or pillbug
wack
yuh
they're shaped like pill
I call it a semi truck or rarely 18 wheeler
I've only heard and used Roly poly

We say roly Poly
You’re the exception
yayy
:0 thank u for the advice
i think the fact some regions of england call roly poly woodlice is horrific
who looks at the sweet little bug ball and goes "woodlice"
like thats messed up
what do you call these
you've never had to suffer stepping on them at your house?? 😮
nope
lucky duck
Oh my
what are they help
stickers
What’s a good college ranking for ucsd for business Econ major
some get itchy when you step on them
burrs
it is 😔
stickers???? where are you from
texas
wack
never heard that before
i think as a kid i called them spiky balls which i argue is a better name
that's the only name I've heard for them 💀
ive always called them burs
some of the backyards in my area are full of sticker plants
which now in retrospect may be because the first results for "spiky ball plant" return bur
so maybe i just like
searched it up as a kid and thats how i learne dthe name
sticker plants sounds so funny to me. just like plants plastered in lisa frank stickers is sort of what im imagining
they're called burs. like the official name
nyt
oh 💀
I don't got that
you dont need the subscription
for me it's saying I need it
what
i dont have a subscription 😭
OH I DO
WHOOP I FORGOT MY HIGHSCHOOL GAVE ME ONE AT SOME POINT
damn 😔
sorry :(
I found a way bypass it
mad goofy
slayyy
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/22/learning/what-does-your-accent-say-about-who-you-are.html
through that link
my city is orange lol
yea but it's fun :p
it's okay I became from Florida 😔
gg but also la > cal im ngl for some majors
It was for undeclared
But yeah fs
And cal > la for others
i’d also say sd is pretty comparable
i wanna see how their ai major does a thing
but we’ll see!
It’s gunna shit the first year
yeah agreed
I would advise against it cuz ur gunna be like the guinea pigs
especially those who try to transfer it the first year
the articulation is 100% gonna be trash
U also won’t know if it will or will not be good without knowing the performance of the graduating classes
Def
yeah
there will still be people tho
tbh might unironically tell people to apply ds
and ai
😂
Def people going into, but I’d recommend cs or DS
Haha sell for them
Kidding don’t do that
i do not recommend ds actually
like unironically
they suffer the issues of a test curriculum
and some institutions just slapped ds on their stats degree name
berkeley is. fine? for what it is
it’s just applied stats with domain emphasis which is why it wokrs
True
i love the domain emphasis
ave what should I domain emphasis in
econ cool
i’d recommend it for quant
that or computational
econ also cool for finance
trust fund
6’5
blue eyes
real
I’m never doing quant (clip this chat)
but unfortunately my middle name is indecisive
ds minor is coool for what i wanna do (indecisive)
apparently gracie is pinning stuff on users who go to UF in the UF thread so if anyone who’s gonna go to a uc wants to write about themselves i’ll pin it
I don’t really got much to say as a prefrosh though in terms of experiences at the UC
is it about the application process ?
she just pinned stuff ppl are comfy with answering
ooooh I'll do that
yea :) i’ll probably make one too
do tell
i wanna take this quiz
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/22/learning/what-does-your-accent-say-about-who-you-are.html
through this link and scroll down until you find the quiz link
Just minor in cs or ststs
i’m a stats major
so ds minor seems alright
they have data c88c which is only available elsewhere in the cs dept
Do cs bro
Physics isn’t in cs? Right
I don’t think physics is required for CS at Berkeley
For EECS it is since it’s BS
Physics 7a/b
yeah i really don’t feel like applying differently everywhere though
especially with the why major question
Ah ok
bc then illl have to explain the cs stuff
gl on ur apps
Who still on UCSD cuz apparnelly someone called on CC and the person said they closing the WL at the end of the month
idk how credible but LOL
@dense epoch gl bro
#1207795407002796142 please
Thank you
Uhh we locked that lol
I told them to come here from now on
Aka their respective school
It was on #📢-announcements
My bad oomfs
its ok loll
Depends, but alt considerations are never guaranteed
I think by a lot. I put CS as my main major, then software engineering as alternate. I got software engineering. But what made it weird was that I got regents lol.
So I got regents but not my first-choice major
Made perfect sense
Yea
If you get admitted and it isn’t your first choice, it’ll usually be your major or undeclared programme
im debating applying to ucsd for environmental science or marine biology, does anyone know the general pros and cons of the school?
fall 24 stats dropped 🙏
Cool
Np :) if you want you can look at the transfer data to see how impacted your major would be (although the rates will be much lower)
pros: it's on a coast
jasbutts or jjasmine?
not irl, but we're in the eecs discord
wait which UC alumni are you
Very well known in transfer circles
Probably cal
I think he mentioned it before
he should verify
oh i dont mean bcuz i think he's lying i just mean to boost credibility
Fire
Ohhhhh I see
oh there's a verify?
Yea
It’s great for marine bio their collaboration w scripps is fire
#🤖-bot-commands message @shy saddle
Wow
cool!! i might apply then since im writing the uc app anyway
for environmental/biological majors, is ucsb better than ucsd?
I’d say ucsd is better but ucsb has a more diverse range of majors
For example they have aquatic biology and zoology which basically no other UC have other than ucd maybe
ohhh interesting i like that
UCSD has an overall good and competitive bio program
I’d also like to add uc Davis has a good bio program, mainly in the area of veterinary
thank you!!
They’re very known for their vet programme
The UC application for fall 2025 undergrad is now open! Embrace your #bratsummer and get started early! Link in bio.
#brat #college #collegeapplication #universityofcalifornia
6270
so wannabe
Just go to uc Irvine and work there ez
bruh bout to quit my fulltime and alternate between admission and part time ski instructor
sounds so much better than driving to the office every morning
What’s fws
federal work study
You qualified for it oos?
yeah
u mentioned u have good ECs and awards

its ok
Is this for ur school?
For what school
berk
Well no duh
Gpa will be high there
Just look at ur school king
Don’t look at avg
:(
Check ur schools avg admitted or percentile gpa. That legit gives u an idea of where u are at
Berkeley cares the least about grades anyways
Man seems like ucsd still won’t send anything
has no one really been moved off the ucsd waitlist?
Not recently
someone on CC said they called and were told final results at the end of the month
end of august???
yeah
theres no way
doesnt it say aug 12 on the portal
its getting too late lol
where u commited rn
wait fr? where, inmight be blind
yeah it says aug 12, if not sooner
end of august would be crazy
screenshot for me the part that said aug12 cuz im blind
i cant post images 😑
Transfer Waitlist Decision Update - July 31, 2024
Thank you for your patience. While we were hoping to make all admission decisions by the end of July, we need a little more time. We will make all final decisions by August 12, if not sooner.
If admitted from the waitlist, you will receive an email regarding your portal status update and you will have five days from the date of the update to accept the offer of admission through the Applicant Portal.
Visit Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the waitlist process.
this is copy pasted tho
it is lol
its possible ive seen worse get in
all good yall
They gave you aid as an oos???
Oh im not a transfer
so its different for me
Freshman and transfer waitlists are different
should i put undeclared or nursing for uci's major
im like 80% sure im not getting in for nursing and im not so confident abt listing undeclared as an alternate major
but if i list undeclared as my major and then i dont get into nursing in my 2nd or 3rd year (assuming i get into uci) then im also kind of screwed
Better to be screwed now than 2 or 3 years from now
just list nursing. you might get lucky who knows
guys, i am so confused
where are you guys finding the info that the deadline is nov 30?
isn't the deadline dec 2? 😕
nov 30 was the deadline last year so maybe thats what it was assumed to be this year but instead its dec 2
so the info for this thread is wrong?
its decemeber
Its December now, it was November last year but they are giving you guys this year an extra two days
Okay, thank you!
okay
not gift aid but work study and loans yes
WAIT can i ask how work study works
do you get to choose what type of work u wanna do or is it assigned :0
do u get paid
🦕
its a form of financial aid so there are some jobs that are only available for work study students, there's a separate portal where everybody who's hiring lists their jobs and you can choose which ones to apply to and where to work and all that and yes you get paid, for uc berkeley its anywhere between $18-25/hr depending on the kind of work
the funds go directly to your bank account but you can choose to put it toward your college
on your end its just like a regular job but on the employer's end, work study kids are more enticing because the federal government pays a portion of your salary so they pay less
:D
Fyi not everyone will be eligible for work-study
the only thing is that you're not guaranteed to get a work study job (at least afaik) so if you dont get a job you're kinda screwed but also there are a LOT of jobs and someone or the other is always hiring so should be fine
Yea ^
i think the library has like 500 open positions
which is not a lot if you think about it but yes
In the UC system there will usually be a split of work-study favoured/mandatory jobs while there are other jobs that do not require work-study
oh
true, but at berkeley you can convert loans to work study so although i was only eligible for $250 of work study, i converted some of the loans they gave me to work study so now i have a lot more work study
Yes 😋
Fire
Hi oonova
Good theme park
Fun, hope it went well
rejected ucsd
Gg sorry
did ucsd only drop waitlist now what 😭
They be late ab it tbh
what losers
Fr
its ok me too man
bro i dont get why they ghosted for months when they could just have closed when everyone else did
dude fr
did anyone even get off the wl this round?
i feel like im only seeing rejects
My friend did
what
same
i just assumed this round was like a closing the WL round
She got off waitlist
what major
OH SLAY
ig they didn't keep it open for no reason then
at least
Education
they could have let most of the people off the WL eariler
i havent heard of anyone else getting of the WL so maybe it was a super small wave
yeah
honestly i just think its annoying stalling out the waitlist THIS long
gives me UCB flashbacks
Interestingly so
like atp most people are like a week from moving in
fr
Today?
Not today
oh
how long ago
cuz we were just talking about today
as in i havent heard of anyone being accepted today
Maybe
perhaps
USC is great GGs though they made an L choice
ty unova, but man stings a bit cuz ucsd was original dream school
nah after rejection im realizing maybe its for the better cuz quarter system goes quick yk
im going to love you.
why
so i can go to usc
yes
u fcking betrayed me
UCSD waitlist gone fortransfer too tw
did u get into usc fish?
Ya I did
ty. i remember i dmed u abt ucsd
Oh really damn.
Why did u have to reject me
Student workers probably aren’t doing ao work
You do?? Do you do graphic design for them or smth?
maybe
Cryptic indeed
berkeley or la
um how abt no to both
get into one first
kidding sorry for being harsh
but me personally ucla
just for the funs
not applying 😁
im just silly and goofy like that
Is it me or does the UC NPC overestimate the cost of attendance
Like I tried the systemwide calculator and the individual school calculator, and the individual school calculator was showing prices that were literally 60% of the UC NPC
I mean UC COA quite literally comes down whether or not you get certain scholarships and there’s not much to begin with anyway
It depends on a lot of other factors like if you’re getting insurance, what dorm, meal plan, etc
Yea this too ^
yeah exactly
Unsure but check to see if they accept by major
Pretty sure it’s in college of computing
But if ur goal is to get into it and tech, id recommend u major in just cs
ic, what specific are u interested abt ux, like ux research
def recommend cognitive science
ux design is more related to psych and a bit of cs, cognitive science combines those together
ucsd and berkeley are best for cogni sci
i do believe informatics is still gud for this then as well
honestly if u wanna get into graphic design i wud also recommend graphic design if this major is availble
its most likely the best major that will give u the best foundation
ux research id recommend cogni sci tho
hellooooo
Hellooooo
wait thats crazy yields
wait why's it harder to get uci engineering as a cali citizen than oos 💀
How is it there? How are the professors in general?
There's a select couple of professors (Thornton, Wongma, Shindler) who make up the excellence of the CS program. Some of the other professors are alright and there's a large portion of professors which I would consider bad (poor teaching skills / not rigorous enough)
If you're careful about the professors you select though (aka, selecting the excellent ones), you can cover your entire lower division classes with them and also take the most fundamental upper division computer science courses (aka algorithms) with Shindler resulting in a decently strong base
Professors in GENERAL (all other majors / divisions) I've found to be generally good
Gotchu gotchu
I'm definitely extra critical towards the CS department for obvious reasons, but overall for a student who actually tries to involve themselves within the extracurriculars here, UCI is pretty great
That's good
I'm not applying as CS, butbjus5 wanted to get the gist of things over there
Oh overall it's fairly decent I think
I don't think you'd regret coming here, but you'd definitely be left wondering how the quality varies between here and other schools
We're good, not great
good morning university of california
Good morning
how are my fellow californians doing
I’m suffering cuz of how school is starting
packing clothes for move in next week
when do you move in
August 21
oh mines augst15
🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Nearly done with finals
(summer classes)
Same
So true
wdym
i really need to get on this (im procrastinating like CRAZY). i really dont wanna figure out the art supply situation with moving out ngl
LMAOOOOO I relate, ive been procrastinating too
I’m not ready for school
Me neither 🫠
broski you got that trust
Same
thats wild how they rpefer oos
mfs
they should prefer us
$15k vs $70k
Which do you take
Obviously the $70k because of prestige 🤪
Do also note that oos can also be a combination of various intl + students in other states. I guess demographics-wise it could be possible Cali is still dominant
The Big File
Gotta be one of the funniest names I've seen
This hasn't been updated in years though
Still relevant to this day https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/1090870296157896724.webp?size=48&quality=lossless&name=pleading
nah newsom should do smthing tho. ut and unc and umich all have massive advantages for being instate
its dumb asf for us
They actually prefer Cali cc transfer students than anyone else (including instate cali prefrosh @warped dome)

i feel like all states have their own flagship prfer cc
It's not as bad as Cali's
Page 224. It says Upper 40% for Cal States, Upper 15% for UCs
There's a more worse statistic recently though
12.5% for UCs, 33.3% CSU

that seems fine honestly. there are like 9 ucs for.a reason
i might not be fully understanding it but it just seems like what texas does with ut
Umich charges extra for engineering and cs
If you think 57k students only for UCs is reasonable sure ig
oh nvm now i understand. but i still think they should give preference to cali students
Yea lol
how much extra?
I think they caught heat ab it recently? I forget & don't have a source but someone said they overadmitted intls or have an intl preference because 🤑
Idk though
Nor can i care
I'm a Cali cc nepo baby so
i remember reading that like unc has 80+ percentage of kids being in state
like bro
Yea
Idk the stats rn but like
Yea
Do recognise that their projected in-state is supposed to be like top 15% in-state freshman kids then 40% Cali cc kids
i just mean that instead of berk and ucla being 10% for like everyone. maybe 20% for instate. still competitive but helpful for us
ive had too many bad experiences with cc instructors
Completely fair
I still think that the in-state freshman kids is kinda lackluster
Eh
I'd definitely bump it up higher
Wtv
Idk off the top of my head
I barely made it in lol
But also do realise that certain majors may not follow this trend
Depending on major it may be less impacted
For CS you want to cure cancer
Oh nice, I’m not making it to ucs
What’s with grace
I got an email from penn state that referred to me as grace
Bro is an egirl
Switching sides for this one
Tyty
Shep’s agab will always be a mystery to me
p sure it doesnt work like that. i think that was proposed
Definitely
because i know numerous people outside the top 1/8 whove made it into top ucs
not recruits
not diversity too
Yea
It’s definitely a lower number
And is 100% not the reality of the UCs as a whole
But do realise it is different because of various departmental priorities and impacted majors
Since UCs usually accept school/major
Yea L&S definitely not
defo for college of computing/engineering tho
I’d say it’s a lot worse for COE
def
Yea
Business
Basically any major the school is known for is very likely to be impacted
Holy shit someone at my school got into caltech
She did not strike me as nerdy as all and did not do any research iirc
💀
lmaooo did you get linkedin baited
Nevermind she’s still a senior
No I got INSTAGRAM baited
😔
It’s so funny
💀 she listed on insta. thats wild
Caltechadmissions is wild
Fr
They do
UCLA does too
I think this might’ve been for certain departments having more intl student distributions than other departments
Nevertheless Cali students are still prioritiesed
If you look at the class distributions eighty % of people attending are instate
Uts still a consideration that certain departments will have a “weaker” distribution than others
I’m talking about the overall
dang really suprising
Also there was just new legislation like 2 years ago that required ucs to take more in state people if they wanted funding
i read in 2013, it was 90% + for most of the ucs
amazing
They’ve grown in popularity a lot since then
Yup so they’re def trying + there’s elc
elc?
The guaranteed top 9%
get a. UC no matter what? right? i remember that happens for like merced and riverside
Yeah
the UCs overall had much higher acceptance rates thi syear?
i saw davis went up to around 45-50
hm i must have seen different statistics
It was about the same overall slight improvement
honestly thought sd,irvine, and sb would be worse
They seemed a lot worse than they actually were
fr. i think CS and engineering just tanks the ar
Eh it depends
*perception of AR
cal poly slo cs is like 7% 💀
Cal poly takes a ton of regional people
It’s much higher if you live in the slow area
Apparently it’s not really that awesome according to my friend who got in
they are a target/safety list for me
really? it seems like such a beautiful plac
e
slo
Like the program
Not the area
oh lmao. yeah sort of makes sense
Yea we were also talking about departmental distributions as well
they have pretty good recruiting from what ive heard
Hello uc people
in terms of tech and the area
Are you planning on gunning for ucs
I heard it’s just the slo area
My friend turned them down for Davis cause of their recruiting not being great
Outside that area
Hey hey
Go bruins rahh
dang really. the amount of analysts ive seen at FAANG from orfalea is insane
Fr you next year 💪
I mean take it w a grain of salt cause she didn’t give me sources but that’s what she told me
I’ve decided to speed run my UC app this weekend cause I’m not gonna have time once school starts
probably. might apply to a few local ones like santa clara. i think the only publics oos will be umich, ut austin, and udub and IU
Umich and us aid oos is interesting, gl
No cmc ed?
actualy just statistical error. average UC major rejects 0 students per year. CS, engineering, econ, and business, who lives in LA/Berkeley & rejects over 100,000 each year, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
LMAO?
This is so wildly inaccurate
88k on net price calculator so definitely not
Ohh
google spiders georg
OH
the piq seems hella easy tbh
Is there a reference here
Santa Clara? thats a private school
"average person eats 3 spiders a year" factoid actualy [sic] just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn [sic] should not have been counted
Okay this is actually funny
yeah but they mind give good merit schol
There are 4 but yeah
Dang
Freshman is four mandatory PIQs right
CMC still has merit said too
Yeah. So is transfer if you count major prep
i aint getting merit from CMC. that place is too good tbh. and im p sure its not too much. honestly i think the only thing stopping my family for fin aid is how much our house costs lmao
Transfer only has one mandatory PIQ but of course you probably wanna do all four
You never know it might work out! And real 😭
"In the Class of 2022, 75% of the families with incomes between $150,000 and $250,000 qualified for need-based assistance. " this is on their website. when i used net price calculator, it gave no aid whatsoever lmao
Dang 💀 yeah I’m guessing your house fs then or other houses
bay area housing costs kick in right again
hm at least for me they didnt give too much merit lol
how is aid for ucla? do they give anything
ur instate right?
damn. i think they give full rides and stuff so
I didn’t get anything you have to be below a certain income
yeah but might as well try
their full ride is a part of their honors app
yep then its not happening
only 5ppl get it i think
oh fr? how did you get the scholarship otherwise?
oh mine was like a small 10k scholarship
total COA was still 50k for me including scholarships and grants
probably ed people. i know they love ed
yeah scu is hella expensive for no reason
oh i EAed
and then i did the honors app
and i got WL for honors
and WL for honors means i was probably rejected for the full ride
its called the johnsons scholars or smth
yeah makes sense
what major are you doing at unr?
oh wow that seems cool
that was my major at SCU too
are you instate for that? just curious because legit no one i know has heard of scu outside of the bay/ca
btw to give u a headsup, SCU doesnt negotiate/match merit scholarships, i tried
im in the bay area
dang
for engineering irvine is like 20% instate
bro i did business for irvine and got rejected
and 50% oos
is uci competitive for business
merage? right
the biz school
im planning on applying
busines info sys
Yeah
Business admin is competitive
The rest are easier
honestly i might just apply econ irvine and transfer into merage if i want to
oh i did business info systems
yep we going with that
business is the most competetive right
no cs and engineering are still more competitive at uci lol
Some majors have like multiple reviews
?but
wdym but
there was a chart i saw somewhere one sec
wdym. i know that happens for like if you apply to a specific program
My reasons for attending UC Davis are several. Firstly, UC Davis sounds a bit like "U C", and honestly, who doesn’t want to be seen? I figure if I hang around long enough, someone might just mistake me for an agricultural expert and hand me a shovel. Plus, "Davis" has the word "vis," which is short for "vision," something I'll need as I dramatically procrastinate on my thesis about the psychological well-being of vineyard grapes. As well as this, none of my family members have ever attended UC Davis, so I think I should. I am from a middle-income family with no meaningful contributions to society, so I believe that UC Davis, like a lush field of opportunities, should give me a chance to grow.
versus info and comp sci
uc david
no way thats right. 35% for info sys is wild
where did you get this
yo forgot to mention moo
15 percent acceptance rate
36 percent yield
oh
10 years of fall undergraduate admissions information by common applicant attributes
seems business is the hardest for uci
i think uci is the only one that releases publically
you could file a request indepenently at colleges when you get in tho
Yes ^
You can try to extrapolate for ucs though using transfer data
what do they categorize by? is econ a social science lmao or what
i feel like econ would go under the business school
could search it up
!google what school is economics under at uc irvine
right it doesnt work here
this is some horshe shit. 55% FOR OOS AND 20 FOR INSTATE
yes
that's what i mentioned
okay econ is under social sciences
thats for school of social sciences yeah
Like they have the initial review and a secondary one
I think for impacted majors
thank god business isnt an impacted major at mid tier ucs
thats crazy
engineering is impacted at most UCs rip
berkeley taking in 9%
💀 at least you arent cs
1%
lmao
wait do you want electric engineering or what engineering?
Eeks
electrical engineering
problem is
damn thats the most competitive one
so many people are applying eecs because it has cs in the name
not for ee
im cooked by that
just mention in your PIQ that you're a real engineer not a coder
they need people to actually take the circuits classes
EE 105 was a good chunk mech e majors who just didn't think they could get into eecs
(idk if this really works)

couldve done it earlier but noo
me? i was in eecs.
was? what did you transfer to?
bro...
LMFAO
i see pink and think they still in college
swe? or what are you up to now?
i want to go back
real life sucks
LOL swe isn't real life. "i'm just going to codesignal leetcode an app dashboard swift saas. daddy zucc gave me the reverse linked list interview so i got the $200k tc offer menlo park." <- statments dreamed up by the utterly deranged
i'm a hardware engineer at a company that does space stuff
linked list 😨
honestly i expected most eecs bros go to swe. i know most of the met fellows do that. either business or swe
how was the ee part? ive always heard ee is hella hella hard
it is 😭
the weeder part
Lol yeah
are you business major? i remember a while ago you said you applyed environmental sci or smthing to dartmouth
No im a lifesci student
Yeah I would have switched to bio or something
oh wow thats p cool. are you going to go pre med or go up the academia route?
Premed or ore veterinary I haven’t decided
vet sounds like such a cool job. treating animals seems much better than treating humans lmao
Lol I love both people and animals so it’s a very hard choice
what do i do if like my activities are all cs/stem related but i actually hate it and want to apply to a l&s major 😭
what should i apply to
like uc wise
lol just apply l&s
😭
I was so conflicted abt this that I applied cs to all my schools I shud have just applied engineering
but like won’t they think i’m tryna pull something
They don’t care
with like straight up only cs ec’s
nursing
the secret boss that hides behind computer science
UCI nursing is absolutely messed up
Regardless of freshman or trsnsfer
Hi Jay
Jay left wtf
@coarse tree
I saw you
nah ive seen low gpa kids get into econ, and other majors. if its like stem your cooked, but othewrise your fine
Not true at all
My friend with higher gpa and rigor didn’t get into many UC’s I did
curious what major did you apply with?
Berkeley is said to be an exception
I’d have to agree with this one
a lot of other UCs are lax. i know the real sticklers are ucla and ucsb
most others are relatively holistic
yeah actually I know people with less APs and worse GPA who got into some I was waitlisted at. But my essays werent very good.
i think the ucs care a lot about ECs
pretty much everyone at my school had the same ECs (sports, club, job, volunteer; very few had internships or research) I didn't know many people with "good" ECs, but most people ended up faring ok
what uc r u at]
i think thats where the grades put everyone on over each other then
yeah im not sure how accurate this is but I've heard they compare you in the context of your school, so maybe if no one's ECs are that great at your school they don't judge you too harshly
la
yeah i think thats right
?
Hello.
Yeah on the flip side if everyone is busting their ass out because of school culture
You’re cooked
If everyone is special
Nobody is
(Have fun at Merced though I guess)
fire
I don’t think UCs care enough dawg like most other schools, maybe like Berkeley does tho
I applied with neuroscience
ive seen ton of low gpa good ec kids get into mid tier UCs. it really depends on the UC. berk you have a shot. ucla and ucsb is hell no. ucsd, uci, ucd are all possible as well
but also
then again major/college you are applying to really matters
imma be honest, im not saying ucs only care abt gpa, but for my school as long as u are top 5 percent of ur class, ive seen kids basically kids clear if not get most of the ucs without no problem with regents
thats true all the kids who did apply engineering and cs did not necessarily get this result tho
ucsb ya
oh yea
my friend got uc davis regents
it says they accept only 200 but idk if that’s true
It seems like a lot more than 200 get it from what I’ve heard
and ik another who got regents for all, except la and berk, but is going la
lsa is definitely much more holistic
instate probably
for sb def not lol
im instate yes
yeah makes sense
idk tbh still
gpa is a huge factor for ucs id say
lsa definitely cares a lot about piqs from what ive heard.
really really cares about them
did you sweep UCs?
thats crazy, lol i think just from my school we had 5 or 6 regents for ucsb
all the ones i applied to yeah
ngl our school year was insanely cracked.
didn’t apply to sc, m and r
like our year was kinda known as the tryhard year
my year is the same so im looking forward to see where everyone is going
good luck!
its going to be hard to top last year. we had 5 stanford admits. it was wild
damn r u a Cali school
yep
most kids did end up going to the UC system tbf
we were uci heaven
same
SD and berk were top 10 remaining
irvine was like
and riverside
were everyone else
its kinda crazy tho the two stanford and one harvard kids from my school were neither valedictorian
yah most of the ivy league kids were not valedict
Where did valedictorian end up going?
cornell, haverford, ucsd, uci, ucla, ucla, ucla, ucla, uc berkeley regents, jhu
yeah i was looking through common data sets for uci, ucsd, and ucsb
ucsb only considers gpa to be very important
uci and ucsd care much more about talent and ecs
i got in ucsb, but rejected uci and berk
ucsd and ucla later did not want my ass
must have had high gpa lol
Maybe y'all should be drafting/editing your PIQs instead of trying to interpret statistics
Heck if you spent a few hours working instead of on discord you'd have the extra $70 to apply and see what you get
🔥🔥 real advice here
Why so many
our school has 10 valedictorians 💀
wait nvm
scratch one of the ucla
it was duke
we indeed are a goofy school
with too many tryhards this year
Did they all tie or smth?
put me back two years ago, i might have been op 7 percent then
some ties some just close
we always just have 10 valedictorians
we dont
Interesting
LAUSD?
holy shit i thought u figured out my school district but no
It’s goofy, it’s cuz lausd has it so that if ur gpa is > 4.0 ur considered Valedictorian
I was a biology major
how u alr a college freshman brodie
I took classes over summer there
Got an ID and everything and they count towards units
if it don’t count I’ll take off the role but surely that works
Oh valid
