I've heard a consistency from family members + current masters students (both in engineering) that if you want to go into industry, bachelors are often accepted a lot more than a research field

Like I could likely go into polymers industry with just my bachelors and make decent money, but if i wanted to specialize or go into kewl research 😎 I'd likely need more. I've heard it's been getting more and more lenient though.

I feel like when it comes to computers (hardware) I find my self asking "why?" in a infinite cycle, I want to understand how CPU's are made on a manufacturing level and be apart of a company that makes them, but idk if I need grad school for that.

Certain computer hardware jobs will expect a graduate degree from the applicants. But many CPE undergrads find a job without a grad degree. So it depends on the role.

It's rare but not impossible for an undergrad to land a CPU design job.

FYI, Preview is administered 100% by CLAS regardless of the major. Even if you are engineering major, the Preview advisor will be a CLAS advisor who may not know about engineering requirements.

I don’t recommend doing any prepping, as it’s supposed to be a diagnostic test. Trying to game the system will only put you in a worse position when it comes to being in classes. The test is partly about correct answers and partly about speed. Get a question right and the next ones may be harder, get a question wrong and there might be easier ones after.

How significant is honors early registration?
Just finished semester #3 course registation. out of 4 courses, only 1 is full as of now. but got it thx to early registration. the other 3 are still available and didn't need early registration.

I just don’t see a path from, vibe coded websites with AI and basic math (AP comp Sci principles) to having a complete understanding of data structures to pass technical interviews by the conclusion of freshman year.
