Just read a nice tip regarding dorm room selection.

Most incoming students will end up choosing a double room during May room selection period.
Unfortunately, double rooms with 2 available beds can be taken by a single (who is not paired). It's practically impossible to force a single to be limited to a double room with only 1 bed available.
Once the double room with 2 available beds is taken by a single, this double room will only have 1 available bed, which means paired students cannot select it. This was a big issue last year. Practically, on Day 2, there were practically no double room with 2 beds available. So all the pairs had to split up and pick 2 different rooms.

A mom suggested, if one wants a good double room, it may be strategically better to not to pair. You will have more room selection options but you risk not knowing who the roommate is.

For admitted honors student, a mom explained what the admitted Honors student event was like:

"we went on the admitted honor student tour Monday. It was very informative. The first part was an honors presentation, then we went on a general 90 minute campus tour and then we got to see honors village. We didn’t get to see the hv dorm rooms, but we got to see the community areas. My daughter is really glad she went and it definitely is helping with her decision."

FSU or UCF - Data Science Major

Hello. Currently I am waiting on UF for regular decision, but need to make a second choice option.

My major Data Science at FSU is a masters degree only, so I would have to take one of the pathways to get there and UCF it is a bachelors program.

My real problem here is do I go to a school which is more prestigous overall, or go to UCF where I got 14k scholarship and they have my major.

Any answers help. Thanks.

majors like math, stats, and CS are common pathways to a graduate program in data science

you’ll certainly be more knowledgeable on data science than i am, so my question is if a bachelors degree in DS would mean you don’t need to get the masters in it?

in terms of getting a job esp for engineering you'll be fine. UF isn't going to lose ABET accreditation any time soon (at least not due to the political climate I don't think). You might have less resources as a minority as regards gender or if you're disabled, but that's true across Florida and UF's education is still pretty highly ranked
