when I watched the BoT meeting that presented EA/RD cycle, one main reason for the EA round was to grab the top students early, as UF thought it was losing the top students to other schools who accepted them in January.

if this is true, then it's normal that AO would only accept top students in EA and defer the majority to RD. Seems that's what actually happend.

Also anyone worth their salt as a tour guide that's gone through the training should still be able to give you most of what you should know. ( @topaz stirrup this is part of why this year they required you to give the full tour to be certified - we had guides that only knew half of it since training and testing occurred assuming one would give a tour in a pair, which was disproven last year when we had to send out a single guide for a tour that only knew half the route)

Okay Facebook comments (and my mother texting me to double check policy haha) clarified - private tours for pay are honor code violations. This is likely because the only ones allowed to give campus tours are those certified by the university and both of those certified orgs are classified as “volunteer” meaning no pay allowed. I would be careful with tipping but its not expressly forbidden?

(this is reminding me of the whole “you can't buy merch with your cast discount for resale, you have to purchase it and then can give it as a ‘gift’”thing I had to deal with working at Disney)

If one were a certified guide, I would recommend the fulfillment of all organizational requirements first so as not to be in contempt - after that, “private” tours on personal time would be a grey area. I've done it for some industry visitors but that's because they know I’m one already and it provides structure. I don't get paid for those nor have I accepted payment usually.

This is the third year we’ve had this sort of demand outside of regular registration - Cicerones will likely be handling all of those since their busy season is fall (presidential hosting and football) and SAO’s is Spring (Florida Days every Monday and Friday in March and April)

it happens because what UHP and SFA look at are different

I don't think SFA folks will even read the honors essay, which is very important to get into UHP

I said this before. imo, SFA will put more emphasis on quantitative stats of the admitted students. UHP will look more at qualitative stuffs such as honors essay.
