#University of Florida (UF) (2024-2025)

I do not I fear
I took a few classes from them - theyāre solid!
Nice
hello uf people
wassup
Darn ye, professors who gave work over thanksgiving break
I have three major projects due plus an exam immediately when I come back
Assignment on sunday, exam on monday š„
do you know if haivng a grandparent waiver qualifies you for benacquisto or nah
I donāt believe theyāre linked, but grandparent waiver stuff all gets decided by the Residency team over at Housing
Just want to say this made my morning to wake up to! Thank you so so much! Experiences like this are what make being an SAO so so worth it.
whatās the avg gpa for UF
for the 2024 admitted students wasnāt it 4.5-4.7
oh is that weighted
Yeah
UF doesnāt report unweighted
UF will recalculate your GPA for you
Easy way to calculate:
- honors, pre-AP, Pre-IB, Pre AICE gets a .5 additional weight
- AP, IB, Aice, Dual Enrollment, etc gets a 1.0 additional weight
do you work at UF??
No, sheās a student admissions officer
You can always come on a campus tour or download the GatorWay app to take one remotely š
Iām only interested since UF gives full rides ngl
What other schools are you looking at?
Yeah thatās smart
UF might be around the same OOS as your in state schools
Just depends on the schools
mine are like around 25k
I think UFās tuition is like 28k or something OOS
just tuition? 25k is like the total cost for in state
yeah 28k for tuition and then ~7200/yr for housing
r u NMS?
Whatās that
Oh why so cheap
UF gives full ride to FL nat'l merit scholars
It is. (Had to stare at said amount while working on an assignment)
Check out the OOS section of https://www.sfa.ufl.edu/types-of-aid/scholarships/
Gracie and I arenāt financial aid officers soooo we are not your best source of info on that
yeah
For yāall who are keen on stats: these were the stats for my admittance class
||(how did I find these? Seasonal Affective Disorder aka the winter blues makes one start looking through old texts lol)||
i gave up on stats after august. i just need to be IN the stats now.
Itās great to be a Florida gator!!!!!!!!!!! š
Itās great to be a winning Florida gator too š§”š
fsu kid detected
opinion rejected
how does uf calculate their gpa
for hs students
cuz chatgpt says i have a 4.3 but i think thats wrong
Not sure but maybe check your bright futures gpa?
idk what it is
@fossil saffron
You could calculate it yourself
Itās just inconvenient to do
Excel sheets, my friends
is it the same gpa as the bright futures 16 credit one?
yes
wait so if aice/ap is weighted 1.0 above regular, does that mean a b would be a 4.0, c would be a 3.0, etc
thatās what i thought it meant but my friend said he thought to recalc you had to divide 5.0 by 4 for each next grade letter down i.e an a is 5.0, b is 3.75, c is 2.50 etc
i hope i recalculated my gpa right because it ended up being a 4.53 only with core classes, which isnāt that damn bad
this is diabolical
this is correct, but do note that no extra weight is given after C so a D would just be 1.0
wait till you find out this is how my school district does it
Buddy isnāt making it into UF..
LOLLL
THATS SO MEAN OMG
it was a genuine mistake bc thatās genuinely how my district calculates our grades lmao
on a 6.0 scale too
Ohh okay
foul
mine also did 6.0 but just 6.0 5.0 4.0 for ABC
Mine had a 5.0 scale for weighted but the most you could get was a 4.8 I think because we had mandatory non-honors classes like religion + spanish
#privateschool
you will
and even if you donāt life will still go on
thank u gracie ily š«¶
Yes
should i use my bright futures money to buy nitro
same
my school has no spanish honors
so like
the legal maximum bright futures gpa i could get is
4.875
Ok so
My bf gpa is a 4.41
yes
nah thatās like p good
did you get all Aās
u are chilling
a good portion of my classes are bās
maybe 30%
rest are all aās
but i took lots of aice classes, and most of my bās were in honors classes
176 on june 2007 which is a common practice/diagnostic test
i was bored
it was with lg tho so my actual might be lower
ynw
lemme take the lsat once i finish my calc homework
lets see if i can hit perfect
lowkey its a glorified iq test
thats studyable
the question type is pretty similar
go for it
Good luck trying to get that lol
isnt it direct deposit
im kidding by the way
for all of you wondering
this is a joke
im not gonna use my bright futures money for nitro
now my benaquisto money... thats a different story
Since i get just over 2K for "personal expenses"
hmm
sounds like nitro to me
Theres also 1.6k for transportation
doesnt uf have busses?
You canāt
It automatically pays for your tuition
all scholarships go towards paying off your balances whenever the funds land in your account
so
and then if thereās extra u get to keep it
THEN THAT EXTRA...
Nitro!!!
Boosting A2C!!!
but like there would only be extra depending on the dorm u get I think
theres "transportation"
which is to cover 3 round trips to miami per 2 semester
by car
Thatās not a payment you have to make tho
exactly
transportation... sounds like discord nitro
Yeah no thatās only for decals
1.6K for decals?
welp
nitro here i come!
Celeste, Iām heading over to warrington to print the handbook out as soon as my bf gets back from class
š
He was going to go with me as soon as he finished his thing but then 8pm become 10pm .. then 11:30pm ā¦..
also just a question
do they give the SAOs anything?
does it like get you lower costs for anything or is it just
slavery
wait
for all the national merit finalists i have some great news
i was reading through the benaquisto docs
and apperantly oos kids can get benaquisto
it covers the in state tuition
so like lets say out of state kids pay 50K and in state kids pay 30k
then benaquisto covers 30k
and you only have to pay 20k
uhhhhh
I fear in state tuition is 6k and oos is 28k
which is still better than nothing but
still kinda a drop on the bucket
not tuition
the full in state coa
22278 would be their total final responsibility (estimated)
Back when I was a freshman we used to have to pay dues (I think it was 25 for new members and 15 for returning) but then UF SG restructured club funding guidelines and now there are no required dues, just the same participation requirements
We get polo and nametag (polo gets returned when we graduate, you get to keep the nametag tho) and then I think weāre covering the cost for T-shirts this year
Plus food vouchers sometimes when we work events
Ohhhhh
read the benaquisto docs
i did they say oos cant get benacquisto anymore
also if i have a grandparent waiver and youre not trolling me how does benacquisto work for me
oh
not anymore ig
im stupid
i saw it in a doc somewhere
may have been outdated
This was one of the reasons I originally chose UF š„
bang for your buck is crazy there
that is certainly NOT a reason to choose NYU
I couldnāt pass up on NYU like that
yall post your spotify wrapped rn
I think there's a thread for that
Cool thing is there's an exception, basically if your grandparents live in Florida you count as in-state.
yall look at how the sky looked on my way to work
You have to apply for the waiver!
So itās like a scholarship basically
But still 100% worth trying to go for it, I donāt think itās SUPER competitive. Itās not like UF honors level of competition for example
From what I hear you don't really fail it, so it's less of a scholarship
I read grandparent waiver is 1st come 1st serve.
Interesting, I guess I'll look into it more.,
idk much about it but some kid told me he had to earn it so I dont relaly know what he meant by that tbh
this was lowkey freaky but as i got closer to work i realized it was just airplane exhaust or wtvr
(Thereās only so many waivers available, so it is a tad competitive. Donāt worry, Melissa went over this the GBM prior to retreat lol)
The only answers youāll really get from us in admissions is check with Housingās Residence team
Also if you live in Florida (and are above the age of 18), buy lottery tickets because it helps cover some of our tuition under Bright Futures š
Literally socialism š
Ooookay then
this made me laugh
Anyone in Broward county, Iām doing the AAG tonight with your AO Chelsea and she is a QUEEN
ALSO honors and IA decisions will be given with your early action decision
AP/Ib etc, you can bring in up to 45 credits
DE/community college you can bring in up to 60
avg cuban talking about the govenrment
me under the age of 18 preparing to buy lottery tickets so we can all get tuition: i definentally do not condone this
lord i beg you let me in
LEMME IN
dead chat xD
ecks dee
reviving
To the current student, good luck with the finals.
To the prospective students, good luck with your midterms.
in the trenches

no
not at all
it doesnt matter
yes
they literally
give
absolutely
0
shits
they care 0
ok and?
no
but
stop dooming
your fine
uf doesnt accept students who are dooming
they monitor r/a2c, r/chanceme, a2c discord, r/sat, khan academy, essay help channels. they have people stationed everywhere to stop you from dooming. your own dog may be on the doom patrol. never doom.
this has to be satire
you satire quite often it seems
well
thats not satire
alot of unis have doom patros now
uf
harvard
mit
i know the UCs are doom blind
and stanford is doom optional
same with duke - their doom optional too
USF decisions come out today for those who applied
Okay Doctor Doom
Gracie and I are here cause we wanna be, not as spies
Or at least I am, yāallāve gotten Gracie for a while
that sounds what a doom spy would say
everyone dont doom in front of celeste
howād you figure it out
generally need-aware/need-blind doesn't matter for schools that dont guarantee that they'll cover full need
also if you're an american citizen/permanent resident, next to no college is going to reject you for finances
despite being OOS?
thanks thats a relief
i hate that uf ea decisions come out so much later than most ea/ed decisions. did they do that bc they knew they'd have so many ea applicants?
Itās earlier than we did decisions in past years. It used to be last Friday in February
that's crazy š

Why didnāt yāall have ea last year š¦
theyāre lining up with āpeer schoolsā like UNC, UVA, and UMich
I AM DONE WITH FINALS
just some last bits of stuff to turn in for my Adobe class and I am done with the semester!
actually im so glad uf decisions are on a friday bc coming to school after these florida school decisions come out has been... an experience
What day is the decision?
yeah ive heard secondhand from my sister
USF decisions came out yesterday, FSU comes out tomorrow
kids be asking everybody and their mother if they got in
Jan 24th for EA. Gives you buffer to upload more stuff if you get deferred since materials deadline for RD isnāt until the 31st
Youāll know if they post on instagram
This
me personally i stayed mysterious
didnt post about acceptances
is that expected?
depends on the persons social media presence
if theyre active, then generally yes
Also anyone complaining about getting St. Pete campus grinds my gears, cause the city is beautiful and Tampa frightens me more with all the violence
i ended up applying for tampa campus but was strongly considering st pete
the experience I'm referring to is all the crying from people who got rejected š
-# the avg sat score at my school is <1000, so...
tbf this one girl got st. pete and her major isn't even offered there. so that was kinda weird?
It might be that a majority of her classes except for a few (IE econ) would take place in St. Pete
that's weird. do you happen to know how someone could find that out?
thereās a document on the site about which majors are offered where
my school is pretty decent (average sat of 1080) but even still my sister said plenty of people got deferred from ucf
fsu is always a bloodbath for us, itās even worse than uf
tbh call and ask
I was the only one who got into uf and fsu through first-year applications (one kid transferred to fsu technically)
academic weapon fr (I would be above average at best at any normal hs)
girl with an 800 sat has been rejected from every fl university so far and is counting on an fsu acceptance tonight.... i do NOT want to see her tomorrow
800?!?
I wonder if I wouldāve gotten into FSU
I only applied to UF and got in to the main campus
prob yeah honestly
Yeah lol
skull
thatās bold lol
my school doesnāt send many kids to fsu, but a lot of the uf kids apply to ucf and/or usf as their safety
stetson is very nice
yuh
did they offer you a scholarship
they almost certainly will iād think
hmph
i have an 87 in spanish rn (mom hates me for it)
Lol
UF only has the main campus but yeah youād likely get into both
Some people get into one and not the other but i think both schools look for the same ātypeā of student so youād prob be fine
nice!! Stetson was one of mine too
they gave me 34k/yr but still not enough to even consider going sadly
Oh because my dad said some of his friendsā kids only got into the online Pace program
I had ca auto admit with minimum 100K over 4 years
So yeah
she said she was yield protected
bro will HAVE to go to a uc with that low
Yeah but thereās only one campus and then also UF online
Oh yeah I had the 140k/four years one
Idk if this was a dean scholarship or pres one
Oh ok
same brother. i am regretting it now
you regret not applying to fsu?
yee
ah
Still counts as main campus just first two years online
Oh I see
what is different about UF and FSU admission processes?
pres
I've talked to an FSU admissions part timer and people on tours at UF, they both claim to look at GPA (the gpa they calculate for you), SAT/ACT, CAPS, and extracurriculars
and nothing else. no LoR of course
- essay, no?
like the UF extracurricular one
on paper, not much. there may be minor differences on how they weight certain categories which you can check on each school's CDS
in practice, both schools look for students who fit their culture... in broad terms, FSU sees itself as more of a liberal arts school and UF sees itself as a more tech-centered school
i found FSU to be a better fit for me, but i think more kids at my high school were a better fit at UF
we had a higher UF acceptance rate than FSU
i saw so many FSU acceptance letters on my snap this morning
so chat
why tf is it so hard
to submit bright futures hours
as a homeschooler
theres no like
"secure document upload!"
"send them here!"
no
i have to call my school district
and they send it
just randomly got accepted to ucf honors ?? these rolling admissions are fast omg
omg congrats!
ty!! i really wasn't expecting to hear from them until mid-january when the email said decisions take 4-6 weeks š
when does ea come out?
impatient
impatient
smartest UF applicant
my grammerly was off
grammarly*
spelling mistake
now uhh
what do i do while waiting
ooh i know
im gonna drop out and become a rapper
itās the name of the application, not a real word
try again
this is your best idea yet
lets start with a diss track about wiggle
the truth is not a diss
Prob ~20% acceptance rate this year again
so yeahhh
a reach school for sure but not ultra reach
oo i see
Odds are it goes lower or nah?
Idk
my money is on 18-19%
(this is all my opinion & not actual info) but I think theyāll admit ~15k students again cause they have a pretty solid 50% commitment rate
so u could prob use that to determine the acceptance rate if you can find the number of applicants
the other half all go to fsu or a different ivy league school
dangit
L fsu
(jk fsu is actually kinda nice i just hate their IT department)
(a fucking fsu server costs 2 arms and 3 legs)
since when did uf become reach bruh
i was told uf is dream even for ea
since itās had ~20% acceptance rate ?
whats a good sat
to apply for uf
thanks!
long time since i've talked here but i wanted to say going to uf was such a great decision for me and im so excited for all of u applying
it is crazy tho that uf29 is already applying bc it feels like ive barely just started lol
guys is this true for uf if you have applied for financial aidand have a considerable need?
I think so
Demonstrated need is just what FAFSA tells them unfortunately
I need more aid than I receive because my parents just canāt pay for the rest
yeah in my case my need is more than what my parents can pay
I will say that when I reported need for summer (my parents income was lower for that year) it covered it well
ic
But going from 70k -> 80k literally reduced my aid to like ⦠$500 in work study
versus 50+% of my dorm being covered
Soooo pretty upsetting
Ofc
if you have the time ofc
is it for intl as well?
Idk how intl aid works
it doesnt apparently
I ā¤ļø UF, but I still canāt get over the fact that I appealed my financial aid and then they reviewed it, approved my request, then LOWERED the aid I received
Literally evil work
are scholarships common for intl students
like are they given out frequently
or is it impossible to get them like any other state school
I really donāt know š
We are not financial aid officers unfortunately š
i thought yall must have known someone or the other
who might have recieved em
but eitherway thanks a lot!
i get 0 fafsa aid so i just do everything through scholarships
theres scholarships for everything out there but a lot of them may not be granted by UF specifically
you'd have to go and apply independently
^ true, each of the colleges at UF offer scholarships too I think
at least mine (cjc) does
I need to apply for next year
I switched majors (and colleges) at preview so I missed out on the scholarships bc it was too late to apply
can u recommend some
places where i can apply
everytime i try to apply its either for us citizens
or absurdly low like 500$ or smthin
oh, i'm not an international student i just know there are a lot of independent scholarships out there but you'd have to just ask around and maybe google some
ah alr thanks for the help!
yea np :)
speaking of next year are you living on campus?
ik that's random but im just curious, bc i actually am gonna be in the murphree area next year and ik you lived there for a bit
yes!!!!! Iām gonna be in Sledd next year
murphree area solos
what hall r u gonna be in?
oh man!! im gonna be in thomas
im in broward rn </3 actually same floor as dino tho!
WAIT SAME
but across the hall
Iām moving into broward this spring
Omgggg Iām right next to you!
WAIT FRRR?
SICK
how come ur moving into broward
YAAAAA
$$$ š
But like im literally on the exact other end of Dino in a triple
Broward seems like sm fun
broward is nice i dont mind it
All the people Iāve met are so nice
Yeah
honors village wasnāt as social at all
like itās more social than murphree but way less than broward
What style room did you get in Thomas?
itās not worth it IMO
i got a single but i have medical accommodations
Oooooo nice
I think Thomas is supposed to be one of the nicer murphree area dorms
lowkey Iām worried that Sledd will be moldy because Iāve heard itās a 50/50 but idk if itās just fearmongering
yes and the crazy part is my bf will be in thomas next year too
OMG thatās actually so nice
im not sure !! i dont know what the room looks like
The following was posted 1 hr ago in FB by a college counselor:
"UF ADMISSIONS UPDATE: While thereās no official update as to how many applicants UF has received so far for Regular Decision, suffice it to say that UF Admissions is super BUSY.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm a South Florida based college counselor-- I work with private clients, run admissions group courses and bootcamps, advise FL counties and schools-- and I also run College Smart Start (formerly College Bound & College Found) - Florida, a free FB group dedicated to all things college admissions with a focus on FL universities-- and I'm also the mom to two current Gators š
Back to the update:
Early Action decisions will be released on Friday, January 24th (most likely at 6PM EST, though that hasnāt yet been confirmed). At that time, students will hear whether theyāve been admitted for either Summer or Fall, deferred, or declined.
Students who applied for Innovation Academy will be first considered for Fall and Summer in Early Actionā but no IA offers will be released in January. Same for PaCE and State College Partnership offers, those offers wonāt be released until March 14th.
Students who are deferred will NOT be asked for any updates other than new test scores (if applicable)-- UF will not consider first semester grades or any updates to awards/activities, etc.
The REGULAR DECISION DEADLINE is January 15th (with materials due January 31st). Decisions for Regular Decision (including applicants who were deferred) will be released on Friday, March 14thā at that time, students can be admitted (Fall/Summer), Denied, Waitlisted, or offered a pathway (Innovation, PaCE, or State College Partnership)."
And sheās the mom of one of our SAOs!
I attended her essay workshop, it helped me 3000% understand mechanisms of how to better define me in a 600 word essay
also? fucking amazing to hear that semester grades senior year donāt impact your decision upon deferral
i feel so much better now š
how i feel upon hearing this information!
time to doom
doom doom doom
time to doom on chanceme
doom doom doom
My dad got a little gators helmet autographed by tim tebow today
from a family friend
Why is uf cheaper for in state then oos? Shouldnt it be the opposite to attract more kids to florida?
yes and no
itās important that states provide for their kids before kids from other states IMO
being able to offer an amazing education at a great price is a way of retaining talented and smart kids
most state schools do that and give priority to in state kids
what is there to even doom about
florida in particular subsidizes instate tuition
i feel like these decisions are gonna be so brutal
alr
chances
My dad loves Tim Tebow
super excited for santa fe decisions to drop
honestly
id rather do santa fe then fsu š¤®
youāre TCC bound butter
whats santa fe
The community college in Gainesville
oh damn
this is so sick š
honestly i wish i could get some chancemes
given your especially unique circumstances chancemes mean even less
damn alr
fair
i got into ave maria with a 12k scholarship
still waiting on fau cuz i was 12 days late for ea
are you really
?
If a lot of kids from my school with super good stats are applying to UF as a safety will that lower my chance to get in?
no
uf is a safety for NOBODY
Fun post from Reddit: favorite profs! Dr. Brooks is AMAZING to have if youāre going to be an engineer https://www.reddit.com/r/ufl/s/cD5Af5fzNg
breaking news: uf exploded and has a 0% acceptance rate
i mean for me uf is dream
not because my stats
but because i dream of being at UF
oh
is your gpa/sat like low?
i know they put a major emphasis on essays
r/chanceme: either your shit or your the shit. i think i am the shit
misinformation
uf doesnāt yield protect
but I suppose people will say anything to not accept the fact that they flat out were rejected
thats pretty good man
whats your weighed (uf)
thats your 16 hardest credits (4 eng, 4 math, 3 socstud, 3 sci, 2 forlang)
that should be good in my opinion
itās not capped at 16
youāre confusing it with the 16 credit minimum for bright futures
there is no maximum
all credits in core subject areas (incl. foreign lang) + any and all AP/AICE/DE credits count
oh
ok
so like the debate credit i took thats listed under english is considered an eng credit
also if i list my english stuff that wasnt honors or ap as ECs instead of english courses Trollege
i think this happened with me too in SSAR
damn alr
technically itās coded as an english elective?
damn ok
also i got into PBAU
*ave maria
pbau is an easy one
ave maria im proud of
44% rate
they should combine uf and fsu into one thread tbh
itās a 12 credit minimum for BF
Oh u mean to qualify I think
anyway, my current lockscreen
She has her gator jersey on for today!
gracie itās so over i think i need to take a summer class
how come ?!?!?!
i donāt need need to but with adding a minor i have absolutely zero wiggle room now
so i might take one or two business core courses online over the summer
yeah itāll be like intro to business analytics
also itās a GPA boost before i apply to internships lmao
āwiggleā room haha
3.77
but spring semester could get silly
two online classes that i know are easy A, then a science gen ed which is solely based off of tests, managerial accounting which is notoriously hard but im alright at, and linguistics which supposedly has a great professor but idk grading scheme
i want to apply with a 3.8+
which i should be able to get by next semester? but another easy A doesnāt hurt
I think youāll do great! no stress
True
UF Common Data Set Criteria
Lol mineās lower but I was engineering first
never ask a man his salary, a woman her weight, or a college student their gpa
Yeah as long as my GPA stays above 2.8 for Universal and 3.0 for Disney and Bright futures, Iām happy
yuppers at the end of the day the only GPA i "need" is a 3.0 for bright futures and my fsu scholarship
3.5 semester GPA gets deans list, so i would love to get that each semester
and ive been told 3.7 cumulative makes you quite competitive for accounting internships
Bās get degrees AND keep their scholarships š
Itās just the paperwork processing, admissions and residency are on two TOTALLY different wavelengths that only cross over once in a blue moon
ah for fsu it is related
they wont check your residency until you get in
Thatās @reef shuttle ās problem, not mine š
well then
considering that
you should be good
as in you are in their middle 50th percentile
mainly because of this
id take a few clep exams and apply RD if i was you
OHHHH SO CUTTTEEEEEEEEEE
they donāt admit by nature
its actually like 1375 or smth
My 1420 is almost at the 75th percentile
Now selectivity is up
But even with the selectivity 50th is NOT 1450
There aint no damn way
Its the exact same
I did notice that CS majors (according to niche) have a higher chance of getting in and a lower average sat, but at the same time that could just be that cs applicants had more ECs on average, higher GPA on average, etc
It all balances out in the end
1390
no
huh
yeah your right
just not true to say itās almost 75th
sorry for saying sorry
This was prob an old stat
so uhh
After what percentile do u think someone should go test optionsl
Is 1400 competitive for uf?
uf doesnt offer test optional
oh
Everyone say āthank you, State of Florida governmentā
Thank you, State of Florida government!
also im not a big fan of test optional (except when it benefits me)
test optional makes me upset bc i worked my ass off for a 1520
all w free resources
does anyone know if the merit scholarships at UF require application? the international student ones
i cant seem to understand how the scholarships available to international students work?
i dont know the specifics, but if they do not require a separate application it will likely be determined based off of your main application
thank you!
i worked my ass off and got a 1420
so like
yeah
cooked
welp chat
uwf came in and so did stetson
uwf gave me 4k a year plus full tuition via bf
stetson gave me 28k a year plus 6k from bf plus another 2k of ease
im feeling good
UWF is solid
Underrated but I felt like I actually learned stuff from their profs and their Disability Resource center was super helpful even with me just being a transient student
that was my fsu offer
parents bought me uf merch for christmas im cooked š now im definitely not getting in
guys
i got into erau on one of those direct admissions sites
and i already applied
so i cant take it
my sisters friend was gifted a shit ton of UNF merch, it could be worse
youāve got this
š
I got a super cute vintage gators jersey today!
show
I will when itās done washing
love š
I've gotten UF gifts the last three years but this year was much more focused on my future employers haha
Ooooo what future employer related gifts did you get?
Got a Harry Potter bracelet with a Pixie charm (favorite and most frustrating creature), a Little People collectors set of Potter figures (because I love both), and a Sorcerer Mickey Lego set!
Omgggg I love all of this!!!
And I also gifted myself a newly renewed notary public commission lol
me when niche says im cooked:
me when niche says im uncooked
me when niche says i cook while cooking
Nope.
Everything gets reviewed by humans in multiple rounds but things like test scores and GPA get superscored/recalculated and AOs only see that autorecalculation
is uf admissions similar to fsu? also many of my smart friends got rejected from fsu and it makes me think they'll get into uf. it just doesnt make sense
Did you get into fsu?
yeah i did
i have a feeling that i'll get rejected from uf because of that, but who knows
lol I got into both, itās not like both schools conspire of if one gets in at FSU, they canāt get in at UF
I also got into both
yeah⦠the FSU AOs donāt send UF AOs a list of everyone they accepted
if they did
well
thats not very cooking

2025 Outs:
- Complaining about going to work
- Walking to work š (I have my car now)
- Crying at night and in the mornings over things in my control
- Going months without seeing family and hometown friends
- Negativity
- Pushing off grocery shopping
- Spending unnecessary money on fast food
- Drinking multiple coffees per day
Having a sleep schedule lollll
Anything above a 3.8 GPA is something to be proud of at UF - but itās a-okay to also learn lessons from classes. My business law class kicked my butt grade wise but I learned a ton
2025 Ins for me:
- Graduating. Seriously.
- Learning to step back from things that donāt refill me
- Finishing the loose ends of projects I keep putting off
- Doing more for my mental health. Possibly even getting counseling.
- Savoring memories with friends
- Job? Internship? Something? Hopefully.
- Finishing my degree strong!
- EPIC UNIVERSE! ITāS OPENING! A THEME PARK I WORKED ON IS OPENING
2025 outs
- Repressing my emotions - this year, weāre gonna feel and deal
- not eating sometimes
- Imposter syndrome
- a fear of the RTS bus?
- putting off getting a massage from Southwest Rec lol
- Stressing out about other peopleās crap
A fear of the RTS bus is so relatable
I have a 3.73 overall GPA and a 3.84 major GPA so I will HOPEFULLY very likely graduate with high honors as long as I stay locked in
Iām honestly so conflicted about my academic journey
rlly struggling between graduating in 2026 or staying for a full four years
I just donāt know!
Iām so tired of having to work stupid part time jobs !!!! I donāt want to do it anymore!!!!!!! I want to focus on things I enjoy!!!!!!
idk, Iām reducing my hours this semester from 30 to 24 so thatāll help
But I donāt know, I just feel so conflicted ):
My GPA is like a 3.25 now but Iām honestly prouder for handling the other stuff I have on top of my classes
I think your major is also significantly more difficult
hey Bs get degrees AND keep their scholarships
And I had semi-senioritis last spring semester cause I was between two very cool internships lol
Indeed, so do C+ās lol
Youāre graduating this spring right?
Thatās the plan!
Was gonna see what I could stretch to summer but Universal aināt happening so now that doesnāt have to happen and I can be freeeeeee
Itās gonna be 17 credit hour semester but freeeeeee
Universal isnāt happening?
Itāll all be over soon
then you can rest
Applied for Universal internships for the summer, which require you to be actively enrolled in a degree seeking program during your term. Got to the interview stage for one but I think me being about to graduate spooked them off cause theyāre not sure what the next year will look like. So three rejections. Wheee.
Disney doesnāt have that requirement for enrollment, and you can be hired as an intern up to six months after graduating, so Iām going to lean on my relationships there and keep them up to date in hopes of getting swept up in the hiring spree with all of their new projects about to come online.
Iād been playing the āwhen am I graduatingā game so I could be eligible for universal but now that thatās out I can just go full speed ahead towards graduating
Ohhhh I thought you had an opportunity lined up then something bad happened
Iām sure youāll get Disney though
literally how could they not hire you
headcount limits
Thankfully Iām now on a regional industry board with my former boss whoās an executiveā¦so hereās hoping that leads to more people pestering her or her Universal counterpart about whoās getting me first lol
Or I go contractor and this gets even more interesting š¤£
Right doorās just gotta open up at the right time with the right team
are any of you guys here on Benacquisto? I believe I'll be eligible for it if/when I go to UF and wanted to ask about... how its been working out for you guys
thought this would be a better place to ask than #šµ-financial-aid or #š°-scholarships because benacquisto/natl merit is florida focused
A few of my friends are on it - they essentially get paid to attend UF
my kid (freshman) is. what do you want to know?
ill be on benaquisto
how much
cuz like
i thought it was just
straight full ride
and nothing more
mainly wanted to ask about finances and the like. Not sure if you'd prefer to discuss that privately or not
i mean thats pretty basic
that's easy to answer. as a parent, it's fantastic. my kid is 100% financially independent.
afaik, UF refunds you any money that doesn't go towards on-campus housing, tuition and books which are billed at the UF portal. If you're living off campus, you get the housing money in your bank too
it covers 23,530
yeah
welp, sounds fantastic then. Was your kid having a hard time deciding between UF and other colleges they got into if any?
yes. she was considering other options (which we, parents, were going to pay out of pocket). but she decided on UF
Did you have programs like FL Pre-paid which were already supposed to fund her education? If so, did those get refunded to her/you?
we don't. but it gets refunded.
we have 529 for her. she can use it for graduate degree.
ah alright, makes sense
If you already have Florida prepaid you get it back.
(My fam didnāt do that since we thought we were moving out of state at one point and I also was heavily looking at out of state)
2025 ins:
me (getting in uf)
happy new year guys!!!
est
welp
i got into ERAU
and they sent me a whole load of stuff
confetti
glasses
a notebook
and a coupon for a free tshirt with shipping included
with shipping included!?
yup
how would you rank your current options
As in my current ive-been-admitted
Or my current ive-not-been-denied
yes
so
1: ERAU (highest scholarship)
2: Ave Maria (12k scholarship but i know people from there)
3: Stetson (3+3 law program)
4: Lynn (also highest scholarship but well FAU is right next door)
The rest have like no chance
like who the fuck is AUGUSTANA?!
oh
its actually kind of good
number 58 in liberal arts colleges
according to niche
lolol
Hey - has anyone here transfered courses from ASU to UF?
I wanna take some asu courses via studyhall
but im worried they wont transfer
That would go through the transfer evaluation team
gonna do dis later
Lemme grab the transfer credit page since thatāll probably get you a quicker answer than email
ooh wait should I apply to ERAU simply because of the free stuff lol
hmm
ERAU gives you less for natl merit than state colleges no?
they do
wait
depends
for in state all of them are the same (full ride)
for OOS i think FSUs the best (full ride)
ERAU is not a public and the CoA is $69k. Does it really offer $69k scholarship to NMS?
no
but benaquisto does
double check that. I don't think BNQ offers $69k
what's UM CoA?
I doubt the state of FL will pay $100k to a private university
my impression is the state (that administers both BF and BNQ) will pay roughly $23k/yr to the FL private universities (in the list). The rest is offered by the school or paid out of pocket.
exact quote
"im not sure but I would assume that it should cover the full cost of attendance"
if you visit ERAU or UM scholarship page, it doesn't specifically state BNQ will be full-ride.
i cant even find BNQ on erau
im so confused
does anyone at u miami have benaq?
ERAU may offer full-ride by offering the other $77k from university fund. No way the state will pay the entire $100k CoA.
yes. 29 students at UM are BNQ
you stated $100k
okk i just checked
according to my research
it covers 35K a year total (including BF and the other thing)
no matter where you go
which is really confusing to me
what's your source for $35k/yr?
so
im kind of guessing
because
and "highest in state institutional cost of attendance"
and fau is the highest
at 35k a year
ask any FAU NMS whether they are actually getting $35k/yr from FL state. I doubt it.
Damn, only around half of the NMF's in Florida each year decide to go in-state?
Why is avg amount for University of Florida so much lower than the other Florida colleges? I thought Bright Futures at first but I'd think that most, if not all National Merit Finalists would be eligible for BF
that's correct. each year, about 1000 FL NMS. less than 500 stay in FL.
UF has lower CoA because the housing is cheaper.
I'd say 99%+ FL NMS would get BF.
But not many FL NMS get into UF honors (different criterion). Many BNQ parents were surprised that their BNQ kids didn't get into UHP.
This sounds correct. When I was looking at Rollins College I got a small stipend for what would have been my bright futures
Honors feels like a crystal ball, but hey; thereās always lateral admissions after freshman year
note that this doesnt include the amount for tuition
ah, alright. Does that mean students get ~$16000 per year from UF for Benacquisto instead of the $24000 reported at https://www.sfa.ufl.edu/cost/ ?
Well, I suppose this answers my previous question then
Lol
But yeah
Also it doenst include ease
Is that common/have a higher percent of acceptance?
Oh yeah, I know someone who got Presidential Platinum (another $10k per year) on top of Benacquisto but didn't get into UHP
Bright futures is $212/credit hour
for private unis
public its the whole tuition
If you include housing as stipend, then you will get ~$17k after tuition.
ah alright
https://www.floridastudentfinancialaidsg.org/PDF/PSI/FIS_2023_2024.pdf
ah this is the information for 23-24 which shows slightly updated values
(which shows 17k)
Is lateral admissions common you mean?
I have no idea. Iām stating the optionās available if oneās determined to get into honor and doesnāt get in at admission
Thereās something liberating about hearing all this credit hour back and forth talk and going āafter this semester I hopefully wonāt have to worry about this ever againā
Yes, and ok gotit
Wouldnāt advise it for materials deadline
(Itās probably not going to make much of a difference)
Think of it this way: does whatever youāre adding show a different part of you not already covered in your application?
also - if you applied EA, probably not much to do at this point except for wait
There you go
I think most should be at this point
For EA
Iām not the person to ask š
Thatās SFA
Student Financial Aid
true dat
@topaz stirrup what time does UF typically come out? like 5-6 pm usually?
It came out at 6pm on the dot last year but Iām not sure if theyāre changing it
Iād ballpark 6pm. Itās been that time pretty much the last three years
A) the state of Florida is weird
B) you should have an assigned counselor?
i have to email the pdf to
[email protected] or something
its crazy work
"Is there any additional information or extenuating circumstances the Admissions Committee should know when reviewing your application?*" Do i put the same information from my additional info section in my profile in common app? as in like they don't see that info?
Listening to subliminals so I get in
Let me ask our AO sponsor
I want to lean towards no, but donāt quote me on that yet
this is such an old message sorry but i truly relate
I could graduate in fall 26 or summer 26 (if I don't do an honors thesis and just grind my major and nothing else)
i canāt
