I highly recommend admitted students to visit UF soon after decision day (perhaps not on the same day, tho). You will be able to talk to advisors/professors in your major. Since you can freely change major during Preview, it's important to get the accurate information about your major at UF.

Your college or department may also have student ambassadors who can show you the facility (different from the general tour)

I spoke with a mom of a UF Benacquisto. they assumed he would get into honors because he was a NMS. But didn't. Found that only 1 out of 13 NMS from his HS got into honors.

don't think there's a formula. but from my experience/observations, UF has regional AOs. The AO in charge of Broward county makes the admissions decision for all the applicants in this county. That's why the number of admitted students from my kid's high school is pretty consistent year after year.

It looks at all the aspects. But based on my observations, the quantitative stats (SAT, GPA, AP scores) matter more than qualitative stats.

This day 1 yr ago (= 2 days before 2023 Thanksgiving), my family visited UF for the 1st time. After the general tour, we ended back at the Reitz food court.
While browsing through the UF scholarship page, we came across the Benacquisto scholarship. We never heard about this full-ride, even if my D went to HS with ~15 NMS each year. My close friend even has 2 NMS daughters but they didn't go to UF. This new information was a game changer for us.
Fast forward 1 yr, my D is a proud freshman Gator and back home for the 1st time for Thanksgiving. Initially, I thought UF would be an extension of her HS, which sends ~70 students to UF each yr. She made many new friends at UF (mostly in engineering). She gets along well with her roommate (matched via UF housing portal) and they decided on a double suite for next year.
So many ppl (including @native oak) helped us make the right college decision and I'm thankful to them.
I wish all the new applicants the best of luck and hope they make the right decision.
