You don’t. The 25 dollars is to save your place in line for you to choose housing IF YOU ARE ADMITTED TO UF. Honors is an extra cherry on top. The 25 dollars is a way to make sure you at least have the option of on campus housing if you choose. Even though I knew I was wanting to live off campus, I still paid the 25 so I had a chance to try for on-campus just in case my mind changed.

Honors early registration for spring just began today (10/29/2024). The regular registration is 11/12. we were able to register a course that was full in fall.

It’s something I have said to our admissions staff that frustrates me to no end. I’ve saved examples from universities I think did it well (hello University of Oklahoma) and been sharing them with the people that can actually do something about it 😆

Thanks for your effort. But I doubt it's fixable because it requires coordination of multiple departments such as AO, SFA, Housing, Preview advising, UHP and external offices such as Florida OSFA (bright futures).
At least AO did a good job providing a checklist for c/o 2028 admitted students.

The best experience we had was the Canvas course for honors admitted students. It had almost all the information that the admitted student needed.

Good sign that you’re in our system as someone applying. I remember doing phone outreach like this my first year as an SAO - it’s a way for us to help make sure you have whatever help you need to get your app in and take care of anything blocking you from doing that!

after 3-4 days of UF app submission, you can log into UF housing portal. When you sign up for 25-26 housing, it will ask for $25 deposit that will put you in line for room selection.

You do have to do an intake appointment for UF DRC but after that it’s pretty smooth sailing

You can email your documentation to their provided email after you make the appointment and your accessibility specialist can pull it right up when you have your meeting

"MATERIAL DEADLINE: First things first, TOMORROW, 11/15 is the MATERIALS DEADLINE FOR UF– ensure that ALL items are received, synced, and/or self reported BY TOMORROW. CHECK THE PORTAL and double check that any/all new scores have been self reported or received– and that your student’s SSAR is linked/synced. If any items are NOT COMPLETED, students will be rolled into the RD (regular decision) round.

EARLY ACTION UPDATE: UF has received OVER 60K applications for Early Action– and they don’t yet have a projection on how many applicants that they plan to accept vs reject vs defer for EA (again, this is the first year that they’re offering EA)-- it’s likely that they’ll accept 15Kish students TOAL (that’s including BOTH Early Action AND Regular Decision), but that’s just a guesstimate. Additionally, students will NOT be accepted into any alternate pathways (PaCE, Innovation Academy, or State College Partnership) in Early Action– only Fall/Summer admissions will be offered in EA (REMINDER: Students are FIRST considered for Fall/Summer even if they applied to Innovation and/or with a PaCE major)

COMMON DATA SET CORRECTION: Also, I found what I thought was an error in last year’s Common Data Set– which indicated a VERY different admissions rate for in state vs out of state students.

And yes, alternate pathways are NOT being offered in the EA round. If you’re not deemed admissible for EA, don’t take it personally, it gives you a chance to be rereviewed for RD. Same chance at scholarships and the like. Also let’s you submit new test scores if you have them between November/December/early January.

The application evaluation first looks at overall admission and then they start grouping people into the “fall/summer”, innovation, pace buckets.

Last yr, we did the regular tour 2 days before the Thanksgiving Day. It was full. Saw students at the campus. But I believe this year, the whole week is off.

I suggest you pick a normal class day so that you can get an idea what students are like. While visiting, eat at the dining hall by paying with CC.
