yeah im still very very open to what i want to study so 😭
oooh yeah no worries
i'm in a similar situation actually
any stats program as long as good job prospects after
you can also ask #💭-majors-and-minors about global health programs
id say skipping 9th grade probably hurts you
given that colleges will see you as the same as other hs students and you miss out on a full year of maturation
for OOS privates i'm obligated to plug brown
open curriculum allows you near total freedom to do whatever you want
that being said it's completely fine not to be sure about anything at your age
JHU is also known for public health, but its also known for grade deflation and an on average depressing atmosphere
your mileage may vary
Not really, in actuality colleges take everything into context and consider a lot of factors in trying to beat understand you as a candidate. Skipping a grade, as long as it's explained, won't be something that colleges will hold against you
fr?
i always thought you'd just write worse given you're a full year younger and writing depends mostly on life experience
No disrespect but I barely remembered anything from freshman year when I was applying to colleges
Writing good doesn't depend on how long you've been in HS, it depends on how much you make of it
i mean that in the sense like when you're a year younger you can't reflect on your life experiences as well as someone older
- you just have less life lived to help you out with reflection
I'm sorry could you clarify?
given how your brain develops as you age most drastically throughout your teenage years
16 yr olds definitely don't have the same maturity as 17 year olds
I mean sure but that's like saying every 16 year old is less mature than a 17 year old when that's not the case.
College admissions writing isn't even much about maturity. It's about trying to express how you fit as a college candidate through what makes you unique to them. That doesn't need an extra year of needing freshman year, it brings into context of sharing of what you've done as a whole in your life, your experiences overall, and how you developed to the person you are.
Besides, AOs know how to read a high schoolers essays and are well aware just how immature and terrible the trash writing can be. That's their job to translate that writing and see fit to how it would be with college admissions. The maturity between a 16 year old and 17 year old is barely anything to determine that.
Besides, if they were able to skip 9th grade, don't you think they would, to some extent be similarly to the maturity, academically and writing speakingly that is, as his fellow peers?
from my experience not all the time, given so many parents also just want their kids to skip for the sake of skipping
ive seen those who skipped who were incredibly mature and those who definitely werent
to the parts i disagree with i can't say more without sounding like "NUH UH"
Just to be clear, we are talking about academic maturity right?
Cause in my experience, most that do skip a grade have been gifted enough to handle academics and writing.
Again, this is based on POVs at that point
woops
yeah no i was talking about
personal maturity
Yeah no I would agree with you on that then
