The only really important piece of context for this is that I'm from New Jersey. I've also been fortunate enough to have toured all of these schools. Thank you!

USC - Public Policy

Pros:

Beautiful campus, great weather

Thematic Option program

Dining halls seem good

Dorms seem good

Great social atmosphere and school spirit

Great marching band

My school is a lot smaller, so smaller class sizes

Fantastic alumni network

Very highly ranked for public policy, good job placements

Cons:

Far from NJ, will need to fly

Disconnected from close friends

California is expensive

$150k debt MAX

#

George Washington - Political Science: Public Policy

Pros:

Fantastic school for political science

Closer to friends, family

Politics and Values program

Good weather

Dorms seem good

Dining halls seem good

Internship opportunities in DC

Cons:

$150k debt MAX

Not a lot of school spirit

Alumni don't seem that committed to helping students

Super competitive for the majority of internships and jobs

#

Rutgers - Political Science

Pros:

$80K debt MAX

Honors College

Internships within NJ

Close to family

Will accept all my APs

Cons:

Not really a political science school

Doesn't seem like a great atmosphere

Dorms seemed bad

Dining halls seemed bad

Alumni network doesn't seem especially strong

Large class size

My parents suggested I could go to USC for a year and transfer back out East if I end up hating it. Does that seem like a good idea?

My parents are already taking on a portion of the COA so it isn’t all debt that I’m dealing with. I’m fortunate to have parents that are willing to help me to the best of their ability, but it’s expected that I’ll be dealing with the majority
