Intended major: economics
Applying for economics major but there’s a major called economic consulting at Kelley so I got into that but I got into economics at A&M CAS rather than mccombs which is really more ranked than the college of arts and sciences. IU COA would be about 41k per year OOS and A&M would be about 30k depending whether it’s on campus or not

IU pros

  • better ranking than A&M
  • beautiful campus
  • 16k per year scholarship
  • not sure of the weather but I think it’s nicer cause it snows and I’ve never seen snow and the other seasons are nice too I guess

IU cons

  • out of state tuition
  • further from family (even though it’d still be kinda far at A&M)

Texas A&M pros

  • in state tuition
  • closer to family but the drive would be 2-4 hours so I couldn’t really visit too often
  • it’s like 10k less expensive than IU but money isn’t too much of a problem but I’d like to not be much of a financial burden on my parents

Texas A&M cons

  • maybe not as lgbtq friendly as IU? Not really sure kinda need help w this one
  • cas here isn’t as great as Kelley but I wouldn’t worry that much abt ranking

Tiebreakijg conclusions

  • how isolated are the towns of the colleges? I come from a very dull isolated place and would hate to go to another similar place
  • mentioned it above but lgbtq friendliness is a little important but as long as I can make nice friends it’s not too much of a deal

If $11k/yr cost difference is a burden, then TAMU. Otherwise, IU

School is (by driving time) 1.5 hours from Houston, 2 from Austin, and 3 from DFW

#

I think the school is quite lgbtq friendly based on what I've heard others say

However campus buildings are very boring to look at unless you're an engineer who gets to go to zachry
