#FIU Honors vs. FSU

I got into FIU honors and FSU for Business Management and I am unsure which to choose.

I plan on doing a minor is communications & a pre-law track. I’m thinking about doing a dual degree in another business major (like marketing or something analytical for $) since I have the credits for it but idk yet.

For FIU I qualify for the Golden Promise & I have a $1500/yr scholarship. I am from Miami but I don’t think I’d live at home if I end up going to FIU.

On the other hand, FSU is best for business in the state (according to niche but possibly not accurate?) and ranked higher than FIU. I haven’t got any merit scholarships and don’t know if they do need-based.

Something important to me would be my housing situation; at FIU I could apply for the private bedroom dorms (honors dorms) & those are really limited at FSU. I am not sure on what kind of college experience I would be going for, I like FSU’s culture but I also like city life. Can anyone lmk what their experience has been like? I am apprehensive about going far away from family since I have a baby sister.

I’m also unsure about the internship opportunities; I’m not sure how many options would be available in Tallahassee vs. Miami but then again I would probably have to compete against UM students for them.

Some important things to note is that I qualify for a maximum pell-grant, have 75% bright futures (as of now), and will have 60 credits as of May to transfer (dual enrollment.)

Even if I get full tuition off at FIU, their dorms are still more expensive than FSU’s so the cost might balance each other out. I committed to living in dorms if I attended FSU since I don’t know the area but I would want to live in an off campus apartment or honors dorms if I attended FIU.

Help!

ok sooo im a tiny bit biased but

#

i do think FSU is the better choice

#

the cost of living is soo much cheaper, you can get a private bedroom for less than $600 a month

#

and median salaries at FSU are significantly higher, especially when accounting for miami cost of living

#

as for internships, school location doesnt really matter as you will be home in miami during the summer

#

and while tallahassee is somewhat far, youre only an hour and a half flight away from miami
american airlines flies direct daily

Usually, I don't care for rankings. I don't know FSU and FIU rankings but seems to me they are in different leagues. Correct me if wrong.

yes and no...

UF and FSU are still the flagships/oldest public universities in the state, which is why theyre seen as more prestigious

FIU is very similar to USF and UCF, as all three were founded post WW2 in big cities to serve the growing demand for college in miami/tampa/orlando

in terms of law schools though, FSU and FIU are very similarly ranked w/ similar admissions stats, so while undergrad prestige is different their law schools are neck and neck from the looks of it

#

she really cant go wrong with either school; both are very cheap for undergrad and have good affiliated law schools
