Soooo like many fellow high school seniors, I have no idea where I want to spend the next four years 😭 I'm stuck between the above mentioned schools as a hopeful premed student...some things I'm considering right now:
Research - All three schools are R1 research institutions I believe, so I wonder where I would be able to gain the most experience and opportunities. Being in the honors college at RU and Pitt I think might also give me an upper hand in terms of facility of finding research, though Case is also very good in terms of providing EC opportunities due to its proximity to so many hospitals.
Location - I don't prioritize the social scene THAT much but it's still definitely something I consider. Also, l'd definitely think about, again, research and shadowing I can find in the surrounding cities, especially at hospitals.
Honors/Prestige for Med school - Does going to an honors program give me a big leg up for med school admissions? What I mean by this is, CWRU is definitely the most renowned and prestigious for medical education out of the three, but l'm not sure if going to Pitt or RU honors would even it out.
Cost - I'm from New Jersey so Rutgers would be cheapest at around 35k. I got a significant scholarship from Case, so that would be about 45k. Pitt unfortunately wasn't too giving in terms of money lol so it would be most costly at around 55k. (though I'd also love to know what might be the best option for me if money WASNT a factor...)
Standing out - Not sure how much I could stand out at each of these schools. How easy is it to pass classes and get involved in the community? I'm pretty good with putting all my effort into wherever l'm doing, but I worry that attending any of these schools would place me in a competitive environment where I would remain average in comparison to my peers.
I'd love to hear any thoughts, opinions, experiences, etc that might help me decide. I'm really stuck!! Thanks 🫶🫶
